Spent about an hour playing the Invoker game telling myself that I'm not gonna quit until I beat Classic in 10 seconds. I actually managed to complete that goal, then played this game: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2299962516 Not a dominating performance on my part by any means, but I am super proud. I only fucked up once or twice, and was actually playing it well. I want to play him more. I did Wex Exort Invoker |

As before, reading through patch notes before I see anyone else's thoughts on them: ~Wtf is this Scan ability. I don't really know what we'd end up using it on - maybe scanning for blink initiators when pushing aggressively? I also would use it on that Pudge spot near the Dire Top T1 (you all know the spot). This is a weird one. ~Intel increasing spell damage --> we LoL now. Silencer/OD are the big ones I can think of, but it may allow Skywrath to build Orchid a little more feasibly. ~INITIAL BOUNTY RUNE NO LONGER GIVES EXP KILL ME NOW ~Tower armor aura I feel is in place to mitigate super aggro dives early on, but it's also a clear effort to slow down gameplay from deathball pushing. See also: scaling creep bounties, T2 damage increase. ~"Ethereal now blocks in-flight projectiles fully" WOULDA BEEN NICE WHEN THAT ENCH NAILED ME A WEEK AGO ~Rosh exp bounty change REALLY hurts level 1 Rosh attempts, which I can't say I'm super keen on. Annoying as fuck to deal with, sure, but that strategic edge is basically gone. ~Was Nightmare not purgable already? Hwut ~Terrain is hard to comment on without pictures (why do they not do this) ~Holy shit this Bloodthorn item makes the Silencer/Ench/Windrunner player in me moist. Actually I'd prolly pick it up on WR every game. ~Who's going to build Echo Sabre? Oblivion Staff is a little weird of an item - the only melee ints are DS/Ogre who for sure don't need it and melee Strengths who want double hits would be autoing cores, but ones that benefit from the extra mana - looking through the list, to me it's a narrow pool. Tiny needs other items (I mean, MAYBE after Blink but before Aghs), Sven came to mind but damage is not his problem, CK seems like an OK fit, and... that's it. I'm interested in learning what the vision for this item is, because it doesn't seem super... usable. ~Oh man Blight Stone for super aggro supports. This one's gonna be weird. I could see it on Huskar too for sure. ~Raindrops idk. Good for heavy spell spammers but it comes off as basically buying consumables past the 3 minute mark. Spammers like Zeus or whoever may find it annoying but good rune control with a Bottle could probably benefit you more. I guess all-in heroes without super spammable spells (QoP, Puck, Storm, Lina, a large chunk of supports) really hate this item, and it seems like a good pickup to avoid just dying over and over to comboes. ~Wind Lace we'll see. Unfortunately the Wind Lace + OoV + Blight Stone dream comes to 800 gold so no go on the starting items, need to pick 2 for roaming supports. Curious to see how this one gets used. ~Tome of Knowledge... pretty cheap cost for how much exp it looks like you're getting. Plan it out with the team, figure out who needs the levels (position 6 supports or snowballers), throw it down. Not much more to say. ~Hurricane Pike - who the hell is going to buy it other than Enchantress, because who else even buys Dragon Lance and could feasibly use Force Staff? You could do interesting stuff with the active but at a glance this item is super weird. ~Wow, Abyssal requiring Vanguard... okay. Most Basher users could probably use the extra durability anyways and the damage seemed to make more sense than damage block, but we'll make do. Common Basher purchasers would be AM, Alch, Lich, PA, Slark, and then a good number of oddballs where it isn't a BAD item, but I reckon Abyssal is less of an afterthought purchase now. Previously you were ONLY going to go Basher-->Relic. ~Jesus Armlet buffs ~Bloodstone charge buff increase is pretty nice - easier to get stacks when you have stacks. ~Why do they keep changing Butterfly active it's not like it's a really common item anyways ~Oh, Dragon Lance change. So now I think of it a little more like a mini-S&Y. I still hate the idea of the item though. ~"I don't have the money for Flying Courier" BITCH NOT ANYMORE ~What a useless +50 gold to the Greaves recipe how weird ~Lmao Heart buffs praise Centaur ~100 gold for Obs kills makes me seriously consider ceding that gold to nearby cores if I'm dewarding near them. Normally it's courtesy to let the support get it but 100 gold is kinda significant. ~Obs cost being reduced to 65 is just fucky math. I get that it's more accessible now but still. ~Fucking lmao the day I see an Atos nerf ~Silver Edge... not too many buyers of the item but I imagine Slark is torn on this. Slark doesn't super need the extra stats but he won't turn down any. I think it's more preferable to have the Sange in there. ~HOLY FUCK TPs ARE SO CHEAP THERE'S LITERALLY NO REASON NOT TO CARRY TWO AT ALL TIMES UNLESS YOU HAVE BOOTS OF TRAVEL ~Arc Warden changes are numerous so let's see. Magnetic Field is a huge change, being countered by standing in the field, Spark Wraith PURGES, item cooldowns persisting is a GIANT nerf (Midas in particular, but Necrobook too), goodbye Rapier, duration was short already but now you REALLY need to be quick on the draw, and... yeah. This hero is no longer a rat, and you can't brainlessly spam ult off cooldown to throw out Midas anymore. Like I did. ~PURE DAMAGE COUNTER HELIX HOLY FUCK OSFROG WHY ~Anyone buying Scepter on Bloodseeker is purely doing so to PROVE they are an asshole ~BH mana cost increase on Shadow Walk is bigger than it looks. That hero has mana problems galore as it stands already. ~Centaur buffs aw yiss ~Jesus that Chen nerf is kinda brutal. Was he really being picked THAT much still in high MMR games? ~GUT DP YES AHAHAHA I HAVENT EVEN READ THE NOTES AND I KNOW IT'S NERFS ~Okay seriously OSfrog FUCK YOUJ this is barely a nerf, aside from the BKB immunity ~I feel like Earth Spirit somewhat survived the nerfbat beating, but the knockback speed change I need to play around with. 10 movespeed is a big hit, especially for a roaming support, but it could've been worse. ~What the fuck is this Earthshaker Aghs. Actually just buy Force Staff instead of this. Just like what should've been done before. ~Bahahaha the Gyro Aghs is kinda comical. I wonder if it breaks invis? I still probably wouldn't buy it. ~Invoker nerfs do not seem super brutal. The base int is the only really big one but I still feel like Invoker was not super OSFrog but just FotM. I haven't looked at winrates. Still, if it gets people to shut up about him. ~Aghs: when 20 seconds of Macropyre isn't enough to really make an impact. ~THANK YOU WITH THE ANCIENTS CHANGE ON LIFESTEALER ~Finally a reason to take Dusa ult at levels other than 6/24/25. ~Miranda Scepter I find weird, although maybe it'll make some nuker Miranda spec viable. I'm still pretty wary of Aghs upgrades on cores unless it actually does something to help you carry (Tiny, Drow, etc). This seems like a farming item and she was already prone to building Maelstrom. ~YES NERF THAT NECRO RESPAWN INCREASE ~Holy ass this Oracle scepter is crazy. Heals galore. Killsteals galore. Oh baby. ~OD got gutted and not gutted. Int steal change is fine (0/1/2/3 seems like too big of a nerf) but with the higher mana cost on his orb he won't hit his infinite mana breakpoint for a significantly longer time. Keep him around, but... yeah, just tone him down. ~Dayum these PA buffs are juicy. ~Lmao I don't understand the Puck change but alright. For reference, it moved at a speed of 650. ~I could see Scepter on SF now but the actual ult impact is still kinda crappy because you probably shouldn't be missing health when you ult and the return isn't a lot of damage (80/120/160 per line out, 32/48/64 in). Could experiment with it once, he likes the stats still, but it's a big grab bag for him now. I'd treat it like a mini-Skadi. ~LMAO THIS SKYWRATH AGHS CHANGE IS FUCKING NUTS. YOU STILL ONLY GONNA GET ONE OR TWO OFF BUT IT'S HILARIOUS NONETHELESS. ~Regrettably Spectre was not removed from the game tragic day. Really though I guess this is fine. I'd rather nerf the Strength than the Agility but either is fine. ~Storm Aghs seems like it should be more powerful than it looks. He needs Orchid/Bloodstone already but I see it as a later item with a good amount of usefulness. ~They keep slightly buffing Tinker and as long as nobody plays him we should be fine. I was expecting a bigger buff like some we got in previous patches but I won't turn down better mana usage. ~Wyvern Aghs is fine, though I don't see it as super geared for a support. Perhaps pushing for offlane / mid Wyvern? ~Static Field not disabling Blink is one of the greatest things ever All in all, not a bad patch. We might see the meta slow down now, what with making fights near towers harder to deal with and Scan able to foil ganks. Predictions for FotM heroes: Medusa, Silencer, and - bold one - people realize Bristleback is fuckin OSFrog. That one I'm hoping for so he gets nerfed. |

- The change in creep experience actually makes Lich so strong. Sacrificing a ranged creep now denies 90/225 experience to the enemies in lane. It used to be 41/227. That's pretty insane. It also makes denying these creeps more important than ever. - I'm glad they nerfed early Roshan. I think it's just too easy to take Rosh and the reward for doing so is too large early. There's nothing more frustrating than shutting an Ursa down and then he gets into the pit at level 7 and now he's completely caught up and just doesn't give a shit. You should be checking Rosh as often as possible against certain heroes, but some heroes and some team comps can just kill him so quickly. - I'm not super hyped for Bloodthorn. I think Windranger is the only hero I could see buying it before the very late game. For anyone else it's basically just "I might as well upgrade Orchid because I don't have any slots left." - Echo Sabre is weird. I think it could be cool on Spirit Breaker for 17% nonsense. I was playing in the test client and a Riki bought it and with Blink Strike's nerf he did a ton of burst damage with it. I doubt I'll buy it much. Sven seems to be thrown around the most when talking about this item. Ult into blink initiation into instant destruction seems to be the idea there, I guess. I'm just not really sure where you fit this item into your build in terms of timing. - Blight Stone seems pretty strong. Buying this item at the start of the game seems like a no-brainer for a few heroes (Wraith King, Lifestealer, Weaver). Your attacks hit harder, it's easier to last-hit creeps, and you'll jungle faster, and you'll probably build it into a Desolator on all of them. I tried it with Phantom Assassin and the synergy with Stifling Dagger seems decent. Should be a good item. - Hurricane Pike seems like it was made with exclusively Enchantress in mind. I just don't see who else buys this. There are just so few heroes who build Force Staff and right click. Maybe Silencer or Outworld Devourer could use it? Seems very limited. - The Basher/Abyssal changes are pretty big. I don't think this is an item you buy on right-click carries much anymore. I think the idea of the mana reduction and cooldown reduction was to make this aimed more at utility/tank heroes that already build Vanguard. Centaur, Bristleback, Beastmaster, and Elder Titan are four heroes that I could see it working on. The problem is finding utility/tank heroes that actually right-click a fair bit, but I think those four all do. I was actually thinking this new Abyssal could be better on Riki, too. His main issue at the moment is his terrible health pool and nonexistent regen/sustain, and this would help that while still giving him the utility of bash that benefits him greatly. You don't really need high damage items on Riki in the first place since it comes pretty much built-in with the hero. - They keep buffing Armlet and the Wraith King player inside of me appreciates it. This item is so good right now. Just look at the benefits you get from this item and it's an item that's easily completed before 15 minutes in many games. - The new Blade Mail seems too strong. I don't think I really understand right now what the counterplay is to a Legion Commander blink/blade mail/dueling you, or an Axe call/blade mail combo. Getting ganked by a Legion now is just completely lethal with BKB no longer doing jack shit to help you. I think this is going to get nerfed pretty quickly. This item just seems too strong for how cheap it is. - The new Dragon Lance seems more useful than the previous one. I think most ranged carries are going to appreciate the new benefits a lot more than the 10 damage/atk speed/strength. You get even more HP and you get as much (if not more) DPS if you're an agility hero. I never liked the idea of this item on heroes like Sniper and Drow, but I could see it now. Also a nerf to the DPS Enchantress gets from the item. - Sange & Yasha is even stronger on melee carries now. Praise Jesus. - Silver Edge seems like a much more practical item for more heroes now. I think it's even better on Slark now than it was before. You get essentially the same amount of strength and raw damage/atk speed, but now with an added +15 to agility and intelligence? Jesus. Not to mention it's over 600 gold cheaper now. It also makes doubling down with a Sange & Yasha completely viable because you don't have to double dip on Sange. I love building well-rounded stats items on carries and this seems like a really good one. Gives you the same stats that Linken's gives you, as well. - Crystal Maiden's buffs seem significant. I think she's going to be so good this patch. Her skills have ridiculously low cooldowns now and they just keep buffing the amount of mana regen she gets from her passive. 8 mana per second is no joke. 4-1-4 Maiden was already the best build, but now it's even better. - I think they gutted Spirit Siphon too heavily. I agree that the ability was too strong, but I don't think the hero was. She may have felt strong, but there's no winrate in the world that supported it. Pretty sure she was a sub-50% winrate at basically every level. Her peak winrate right now is 49.55% at the 3K-4K bracket, and it was below a 50% at the competitive level I'm pretty sure. This nerf wasn't thought out well, and unless a meta shift occurs that makes her much better in some way I'm not seeing right now, I think she was definitely over-nerfed. - Glad that they nerfed Impetus so heavily. Fuck that ult. - Jakiro's changes seem completely and utterly inconsequential. Sometimes I feel like they just completely miss the point when balancing heroes. Maybe I'm wrong and it'll be super OP, idk. - I'm glad that they didn't overnerf Lone Druid. I don't really care about the hero, but he seemed like someone who could've been nerfed too heavily without actually being too strong like Death Prophet. Lone Druid's winrate is very slightly under 50% at the highest skill bracket (which is predictably his peak winrate). - I actually like Mirana's Aghs upgrade. It's pretty weird, but I feel like it could be good. It drastically increases your farm rate on core Mirana (while adding stats and HP, unlike a Maelstrom, though it is considerably more expensive). I actually think it could be pretty good on a support Mirana, too. Support Mirana is already pretty greedy and tends to jungle in between ganks, but I feel like there's no item that's particularly good on position 4 Mirana despite this. Her only real source of damage in this role is her Q and this will essentially double her damage output, as well. Right now people just build awkward stuff like Linken's, Diffusal, Eul's, and whatever else on position 4 Mirana. - I actually think Necrophos was buffed. His ult is so weak at level 6 right now. The time penalty is completely stupid and brutal at level 6 relative to later in the game, but he should be able to actually secure kills much more easily with the new ult. I'd personally take that if I were a Necrophos player. The damage output at level 6 is now the same as it was at level 11 before. - I think the Stifling Dagger change is pretty significant. I was testing out the hero a few hours ago and the skill seems about as strong as before early in the game. It just now scales ridiculously well with items and will be more than an afterthought late in the game. Killing supports with a single Q late in the game will be fun. Until it happens to me. - Phoenix Aghs is now considerably more viable than it was before. - lol fuck pugna - Riki's new buffs are pretty legit. Doesn't solve the core problems with the hero (which I talked about earlier), but that ult is getting very spammable and Blink Strike hurts like hell now. - Arcane Curse seems super cancerous now. - Storm Aghs seems pretty strong in certain situations. Could definitely go well with various teammates. Not sure it addresses why the hero is so weak right now, but the significant Bloodstone buff may do that. - Is Tusk Aghs creeping into "viable" territory? - Helm into S&Y into Skadi Viper is what I play Dota for. Good luck killing that. - I appreciate the Wraith King buffs. Should be able to take ancients extremely fast now. - I'm surprised at how subtle the Zeus nerfs were, though players at high skill brackets would probably say no longer disabling Blink with his passive isn't subtle. He's also indirectly nerfed by the Veil nerf, though I'm not sure the -6 intelligence really matters much for Zeus so much as it does for some of the right clickers that were buying it (OD, Queen of Pain) for a while there. |

- Not a fan of this Scan. Doesn't seem like it makes sense within the core of Dota - Like this idea of the armor aura around towers. Early deathballs made this game no fun for quite some time during 6.86 - Initial bounty no longer giving XP is odd. Wonder what encouraged this change - Agree with Lightning about Lich. Sacrificing/denying that ranged creep will really help win a lane - Love the early Rosh nerf. Too many times we'd destroyed an Ursa in lane, only for them to get Rosh and come out ahead - Echo Sabre is weird. I think the Hero I see best using it would be Bounty Hunter. He's got constant mana trouble and is squishy, both of which are remedied with this item. The slow would also synergize with his Jinada - I like Wind Lace for early aggro. Combo that with OoV on somebody like Treant and you have a deadly lane - Hurricane Pike is literally Enchantress but I can also see OD/Silencer using it. Not sure about anybody else - Holy Armlet buff. I think even Darkie would have to admit it's a good item now - Don't like the Blade Mail change. Feels super OP - Diffusal now having a CD could be interesting. It's not long enough to really make that big of a difference but I'm interested to see if this is a baby step to a longer CD in a future patch - Always glad to see support items go down in price - Pretty significant Octarine nerfs. Interesting - Big fan of the AW Rapier nerf. Fuck that strat - Counter Helix now being pure damage is fuuuuuuucked - Scepter Bloodseeker: the ultimate in douchebaggery - Any nerf to DP is a nerf I support - Enchantress nerf was needed badly - Invoker nerfs yay. Not very strong nerfs though so I'm sure we'll continue to see a million Invokers - Agh's Macropyre is still the worst ult in the game - Fuck that Lifestealer/ancient bullshit. This nerf makes me happy - Surprised at the Luna Agi gain buff. Didn't think she needed it - Interested to see how Mirana Agh's works. Sounds pretty cool in theory - Like the Necro respawn nerf - Crocker will now be rushing Agh's on Oracle - OD nerfs were needed - Not looking forward to being the support that gets OHKO'd by a PA Q - Still don't much like Agh's on Phoenix but at least it's more viable. Might be worth thinking about in games with a Troll or a MoM holder - Riki needed buffs after getting destroyed last patch - Agh's Mystic Flare wtf - Skadi Viper is a go - Fuck the Shadow Word cast range increase. That spell is a nightmare to lane against - Wyvern kinda needed a buff but that Ult is still horrific - No Blink disable on Zeus passive is cool |

lol no
It's Valve being memelords.
I actually think Agh's Macropyre is pretty good now. Throw that shit down when you're trying to push and completely saturate the area around the tower in fire with almost 50% uptime. Automatically kill every enemy creep wave plus completely zone the enemy team for thirty fucking seconds. It synergizes really well with his pushing/teamfight quirk. The problem is that you still probably want at least two of Force/Eul's/Veil first, and Jakiro isn't usually rolling in like 8000 gold. |

Off the top of your head, what are some of our most memorable games? I just remembered this one as a pretty funny one where I thought I needed to abandon and picked Meepo as lastpick, then Snow built 4 couriers as his starting items and ghost bought 6 salves and tried to solo Rosh when I came back and said I could play after all - and we won. What other really memorable games do we have? |

This one I don't remember. I do remember one where they comfort picked and we took crocker's TA and slapped Chen in the jungle and won a really hard-fought one, but maybe we beat the comforts a few times. Also just remembered http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1520482586 where the void would not shut up about how much more farm he had than I did, but the rest of his team blew chunks and I think we had 6.84 Leshrac so while he took the game over initially we overpowered him and won and ghost kept harassing him at the end like "VOID HOW MUCH FARM DID YOU HAVE I HAD LIKE 26" |
