Things I've listened to recently, in the style of Darkie: Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials Way, WAY better and more unique than Lungs ever was. Idk, I got the impression that album was derivative indie rock with a soul voice. Good but derivative. This, not so much. Miranda Lambert - Four the Record Nothing half as catchy as Gunpowder and Lead. Then again, few things in country are. Overall a better album than Revolution, and half the songs are better than The House That Built Me (I never got the love for that song), so yeah. U2 - Achtung Baby Idk, I expected something overrated since this is one of those albums almost everyone splooges over. While I'm not about to go into hysterics, it was a good listen, and I'll likely listen to more of U2's work. Mute Math - Odd Soul It's fucking Mute Math. Anyway, it goes further in the direction that Armistice started to take them in, and I get the feeling that between this and Armistice, they've found their voice. A great album. Evanescence - s/t They're back. Really all I have to say on that. The Open Door was a pile of ass, so I'm glad to see they didn't continue in that shitty direction. I'd say this is Fallen with a lot more piano. Demi Lovato - Unbroken Haters gonna hate. I don't care; I stand by Demi being the best of the Disney artists. Solid pop, not that I really expected much more. The Postal Service - Give Up Nothing new to me at all, but I post this mostly to remind people that Owl City totally ripped this album off and made a career of making music that is inferior to it. Also got it for $3 recently, so w00t. Also tried listening to the new Megadeth and Bjork, but I couldn't get through that shit. Ninety-nine percent of thrash metal bores me to tears, and I'm not sure that Dirty Projectors/Bjork album was the best introduction to Bjork. |

School's been back and I have an art class again so I now have albums that I listen to several times a week again. These would be: Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West: My favorite album at the moment and the one that gets the most playtime from me. There's only one weak song out of fifteen, which is "Long Distance Drunk". "Cowboy Dan", "Doin' the Cockroach", "Bankrupt on Selling", "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine", "Convenient Parking", and "Lounge (Closing Time)" are all great. I still have to get my hands on everything else they've released, but I'm content with this for now. The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt: By far my favorite album of the last ~10 years. Folk music that doesn't bore you to tears. Incredibly "catchy" songwriting (I guess) and brilliant lyrics. I would assume his voice could turn some off, but I love it and I think it fits the music brilliantly. Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born to Run, and Born in the U.S.A.: All three of them get played to various degrees. I could write forever on all three so I'll just say they're great. Yep. |

Well, since Slash released a new live album, decided to give it a listen. Purrty good. Miles does quite well on both Slash's solo stuff AND GNR stuff. |

Listening to Bastogne Blues again. And again. It's so mind bogglingly beautiful. It's incredibly epic, yet downright bleak. Damn, this song is immense. |
