DLC for 2/14

Goldstar My Heart Pack
• Heart – “Alone” O
• Mr. Big – “To Be With You” X
• Poison – “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” O X
• Rick Astley – “Never Gonna Give You Up” O

Knew it was gonna be Rick Astley, and I'm gonna enjoy singing and playing the keys on that one. Will get the whole pack.

I hope the singer is wearing all blue and does weird dances throughout the song. Getting NGGYU and maybe the poison song.

Yeah, last year's Valentine's day pack was better. I'll probably get these if I ever get caught up, but nothing amazing, besides Poison, but I already have that on Guitar Hero. Last year's pack was amazing though, even if I didn't like all the songs.

That song being the most requested song is an embarrassment to the game.

I ain't gonna lie, that's just pathetic.

Also:

ZOMG, MOAR CLASSIX ROCK!!!

That got old about a year ago.

And before somebody complains about my complaining, I'm just frustrated and annoyed with the last year or so of DLC. It's been either classic rock or other 'popular' acts for the most part. They're very rarely throwing a bone for fans of any other type of genre.

Poison and Mr. Big aren't usually considered classic rock artists.

Heart is, but 80's Heart is all kinds of meh.

I'm sorry, there should be more older music realeased than newer, it makes no sense for 4 decades to have less music than 1. To complain about a ton of older music is a horrible argument. If you're gonna complain complain about quality, not the age.

And yeah, I wouldn't consider Rick Astley, Poison, nor Mr. Big classic rock. Heart is, but that song isn't really.

And I decided to look at the DLC, there hasn't been that much classic rock, unless you count Stevie Wonder or Def Leppard classic rock, which in that case, well, you're wrong. There have been 24 weeks that were classic rock, but I'd say have of those weren't just classic rock.

Are you fucking kidding me? Rick fucking Astley, the man whom epitomizes shit 80s poop (not a typ-o for "pop" by the way) music was the most requested song!? What the fuck kind of drugs were those people on when they requested THAT piece of shit song!!

The rest, not bad, not great, but not bad. Maybe, MAYBE I will pick up Poison!

My bitching about classic rock IS complaining about the quality since I'm not a classic rock fan. I don't give a shit how old a song is. If I like it, I like it.

The Doors - Oct 26
John Lennon - Nov 23
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Nov 30
Queen - Dec 7
Billy Joel - Dec 14
(Note how this is 4 weeks in a row)
Paul McCartney/Wings - Dec 28
Meat Loaf & Stevie Nicks - Feb 11
Pat Benatar - Feb 22
Billy Joel (again) - Mar 22
Jefferson Airplane/Blood, Sweat and Tears/Santana - Mar 29
Grand Funk Railroad - Apr 5
Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks - Apr 12
(4 weeks in a row again)
Kiss - Apr 26
Foreigner - May 23
Queen again - Dec 6
(A nice long break, I'll admit)
Hendrix - Dec 20
Edgar Winter Group - Jan 17
CCR - Jan 24

That's the amount of 'classic rock' since RB3's release. Easily more than any other genre. Using your number, classic rock has made up 24 out of approximately 64 weeks, or approximately 37.5% of the time. You have to admit that's a LOT of one genre, when taking into account how many genres are out there.

I hate using "classic rock" as a genre.

Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't the same genre as John Lennon who isn't the same genre as Kiss and blah blah blah.

Yeah, classic rock isn't even a genre. There's prog rock, southern rock, heartland rock, arena rock, and a ton others that fall under the classic rock category. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean the quality is bad.

That would be like complaining if they released Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Seether, Nickelback, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Poison, Metallica, Disturbed, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc. Sure they may play on the same radio station, but there is a mix up of genres between those bands.

Also I was counting from a year ago today, not since the release of RB3, yes they released alot after RB3, but they were all big artists, 3 of which they never had before.

There's only 19 weeks where they released nothing but classic rock, 12 since in the past year, 3 of the 19 were by bands that already had a pack come out since the release of Rock Band 3, which Harmonix does very often.

I could get technical and break down every single band released since RB3 into their actual genre, but that's too much work for me.

I'm SO sorry for using the almighty 'classic rock' label instead of being a genre Nazi. I like what I like and I don't like what I don't like. It's probably close to a majority of what they've released in the past year, I don't like. It's really as simple as that.

Also, for the record, I WOULD complain about that release list. Only band there I tolerate is Green Day. Believe it or not, you've actually listed four bands that would make my list of 'most despised.'
