Here's the thing, I don't care if you don't like the bands. I was saying that complaining about those bands as if they're the same is stupid, they just play on the same station.

And genre nazi? Really? Just because YOU don't know know the genres, doesn't mean I'm a genre nazi. Alot of those bands are different. Now if I said CCR aren't Southern Rock, they're Swamp Rock, yeah that would be different, but that isn't the case.

Calling classic rock a genre is like me saying modern rock is a genre, it's wrong plain and simple. It's not like I'm going into detailed genres, I'm stating the actual genres, because classic rock is not a genre it's a radio format for almost all older rock music from the 60s and 70s, with some stuff from the 80s.

3. No flaming. We're all friends here (right?) so don't kill each other over the internet. Religious and political discussions are prone to these reactions, but we feel that we are better than that. Please act civilized, even if you strongly disagree with someone's opinion.

This reminds me of how European teenage boys act when an American calls their "football" by the name of "soccer". Who cares? You knew exactly what he was referring to. That's the purpose of communication. He got his point across, and people are jumping on him because he didn't take the extra effort to split hairs?

Radio format or otherwise, the fact remains: We are getting a shitton of what people know as classic rock. There is no way around that fact.

Both the old man and I know what it's about: money. There is way more money to be made putting out music from artists that everyone knows instead of trying to appeal to our mostly niche taste. We also understood that classic rock was one of the best ways to promote the new peripheral. There's a lot of that music that uses those instruments and would be fun to play. After the tenth or so week, with little to no other music to offer people like dwest and me, it got tiring.

That said, we're frustrated because the old Harmonix threw us a bone once in a while. Even if there were many weeks of popular music, there were generally a few songs/packs that were less well-known. Now we're just scavenging through popular music trying to find the few songs we like. I know, first world problems, but when your retention plan is to keep consumers interested through DLC, it's kind of important to try and keep as many consumers as possible with a varied selection of music.

You might say, "But RBN exists!" Except the music we like, by and large, is not there either. Sure, I could pick up a PS3 copy of RB3 and get some Dillinger, Devin, probably more Amberian Dawn too, but there is as much music there (if not more) that I do not know. I don't like all the stuff I would know, either.

I've seen zero flaming here.

Also, I find it mildly annoying when someone takes the "We all have opinions so we should shut up" route.

Yeah, no one's been flaming, it's more of a heated discussion than anything else.

Also yeah about the soccer football thing I am kidding when I say that like everything involving the european/irish jokes etc.

On-topic, I definitely get what you mean in terms of music released. While there has been a lot of great DLC, for some people, the DLC released hasn't been great. The problem is that no matter what is released, people will always complain. There's been little released to appeal to people like Ro and dwest, but if they HAD appealed to that crowd, people would complain. That said it has got a bit ridiculous with the lack of anything outside of classic rock (yes I'm using that as a genre whatever).

As for Never Gonna Give You Up, let's be honest here. This song is massive on the internet, teenagers (the biggest crowd, I would imagine) and adults growing up in the 80s will love this song and buy it. It was clearly the 4chan bomb that made the song so heavily requested, and by doing the "MOST REQUESTED SONG EVAR" will build up hype for a song which will probably outsell anything in the history of the game. You don't have to buy it, and if they had announced anything people would be disappointed. Muse and Guns 'n' Roses come to mind, and people would have shouted "OVERRATED" at both. I would rather have had those two bands myself, but it's not a huge problem. So at the end of the day, the complaints are valid in that there has been little to appeal to an outside market, but complaining about the song in general doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone seen the pro-guitar scores for the entirety of 2112? Holy shit! PSN has someone named InnerSenses listed at the number one spot with 1,945,425 and a 97%. anyone wanna tell me what #1 on 360 is?

This also makes me want to know if TTFAF can score that high. hard saying when the highest percent for that is only 65%

I actually didn't mean you. >.> I've been on sites where kids seriously get bent out of shape over that, though like I said, they know damn good and well what the American poster meant.

All this popular DLC would be well and good if it meant the sales justified taking a few more chances on songs that might not sell so well, but that rarely happens these days. Harmonix's attitude on unpopular music seems to be "that's what RBN is for", whereas in practice, it's pretty much a lot of people trying to one-up each other with more difficult songs.

Then again, perhaps it's the fact that I go to GH/RB-centric sites that makes it seem this way. OF COURSE the hardcore fanbase cares more about Chaotrope or Amberian Dawn than something like of Montreal - The former groups are hard all-around except on vocals, the latter group is piss easy on most everything.

No, the song itself isn't awful. As you said, people will buy it. Some will buy it due to the outdated meme and others will buy it because they genuinely like it. I don't like it enough musically to spend $2 on it, and the only charts that might be fun are vocals and keyboard, so I'm going to pass unless it turns out that I'm wrong and it has a fun guitar/bass chart.

I remember like waaay back I used to get annoyed about football being called soccer and then I realised I was being a dick and stopped so thought you were referring to me, which is perfectly reasonable =P

Yeah, being a vocalist I can imagine would be frustrating in that. Most of the later tier songs for instruments are easier on vocals, so RBN being sodifficultomgz doesn't help for vox. Also you want to buy songs you know instead of just flat out difficult songs the whole time. Idk why they don't have random singles as well; it'd be pretty cool to have a more obscure song every week along with the popular stuff.

I hope the singer is wearing all blue and does weird dances throughout the song. Getting NGGYU and maybe the poison song.

Looks like I'm not paying for it. I watched todays livestream and they awnsered one of my questions that I asked a few days ago. Then they said peoples questions that were awnsered are getting codes to download/play the pack tonight a week from now. Was thinking about the Heart before, and the chart for the other song looked like something I would enjoy playing. So this made my day! :D :D :D

EDIT: They have 360 codes ready. not PS3 yet. They are contacting Sony about this. Hopefully I get a PS3 code soon. They also allready sent me a 360 code. Any northamerican 360 users send me a PM me and if he lets me give that 360 code away, I will choose a random user to give it to.

EDIT 2: HMXHenry replied to my comment and said I can only have one or another. Sorry 360ers, I went with the delayed PS3 code. Sorry Volt since you are the only one who sent me a PM. It will probably take about a week before I get it.

Here is the Question that won me the code:

Q: Who are some of the bigger bands that have requested to be in Rock Band that you turned down? – nascargo19

A: No one really. We will release DLC of just about anyone we can. We’d like to note that no one has refused us, 100% outright will never happen. Usually bands say no to us because they just don’t want to at that point, they only want us to do a full game of their stuff (ala: The Beatles Rock Band), or they want us too do it, but only if we don’t use the master tracks (which are needed for the process). But don’t worry, we have a volcano of DLC on the way.

And here is a recap of the stream: http://www.thegamingvault.com/2012/02/the-...vestream-recap/

Next week we're getting a Megadeth three pack. The logical conclusion, of course, is that Harmonix endorses Santorum.

Megadeth - "Symphony of Destruction" X
Megadeth - "À Tout le Monde"
Megadeth - "Public Enemy No. 1"

Megadeth is firmly on my list of "bands I don't like but get for GH/RB for gameplay reasons". What can I say, the guitar parts are fun, even if Mustaine has all the singing talent of the average local drunk at karaoke. So yeah, I'll pick this up at some point.

A Tout Le Monde is a great song, another thing to add to my list of "songs to get when I get RB". I already have Symphony on GH, and Public Enemy is eh, so I'll probably miss them.
