Y'all are probably thinking, "Ducks is exactly why gaming sucks the way it is; people like him are ruining the industry." I'm not trying to poison anything, I just feel not as strongly I suppose about protesting things as some of you guys do. You're certainly entitled to that, and should be able to. I encourage that as a free thinker. However, I just feel that it's not fair to essentially look down on someone for wanting to purchase a certain game, DLC, or peripheral. Whatever the case is, it isn't really fair to condescend someone for a choice in what I do or don't do.

*shrug* if you're happy to let the medium I plan to work in and the one I've supported for my entire life trample itself into the ground, I'm gonna speak out.

This was unnecessarily douchey. It's like you're implying Ducks is the SOLE REASON behind it and we all know that's bullshit.

I do agree that you should vote with your wallet, it's one of the reasons i even don't want to buy games like battlefront and mirrors edge because of the publisher, but I'd say Ducks spending the money he earns on something he enjoys is far less of a problem to the industry than the people who pirate or only buy used games or people who don't bother with trying new ips. The difference is that Ducks is paying for something he enjoys. At the very least he pays for jis games and is willing to try new games, more than you can say about a lot of gamers.

This is a fair point. Obviously Ducks isn't the only reason stuff like this happens; that'd be an absurd claim to make. Even if you temper it somehow, it's an absurd claim to make simply because someone has to actively choose to implement bad features. I mean, it's simple. You don't blame the *victim* (insofar as you can call someone enjoying a video game a "victim"); you blame the people who are actively doing bad things.

I think we should be careful not to blame consumers, especially those who are buying video games just to have fun. Sure, everyone could stand to look more into the products they buy (I don't mean just video games), but nobody has that amount of time or energy to *give*. We have lives to live and we cannot know everything. Even someone like me cannot know everything, as much as I'd like to think otherwise because I'm an egotistical asshole.

But yeah, basically speak truth to power and punch up, not down. Getting mad at Ducks/people who want to enjoy video games accomplishes neither.

I wouldn't consider any of those inherent problems. Most of the problems affecting the gaming industry are side-effects of how awful the entertainment business is, in general, for consumers. Publishers and developers alike are mismanaging their resources, ignoring the consumers' wants and needs, and deflecting their own shortcomings onto the consumers. That's why the industry is "suffering."

I don't see where I got "mad" at Ducks. I don't see where I implied that Ducks is the only living being buying these games. Of course he's not. He's not standing there with a button deciding whether GHLive lives or dies. I am, however, kind of sick of people getting offended when I say that buying games that are completely fucking over the customer is bad for the industry. Because it IS bad for the industry and if anyone's doing it, I'm going to speak out about it cuz I care a lot about this industry. You can draw parallels to a lot of different things and trying to change people's opinions to what we feel is better or more ethically stable but if it's games it's fine to get defensive? I don't really think so.

I wasn't saying they are the major problems, just that they do more damage because it gives publishers a "reason" to implement these types of features. Buying a used game is as bad as buying a used anything, but then publishers start pushing things like drm and online passes as if they have justifications.

I personally tend to avoid bad business, but for instance, if battlefront is good it'll be hard not to buy a game that i really want, even if it's plagued with these types of problems. And if i really want a game but am short on money I'm going to buy the game used. That doesnt make me the problem, it just means I'm giving the publishers a "reason" to implement bad features.

I know what you are saying, but, if it isn't one thing, it will be another. You aren't giving them a "reason." They are making one up to fit their agenda.

Neither piracy nor used game sales have been shown to affect the industry negatively more than a negligible amount. Used game sales actually end up giving consumers more money to spend on new titles by trading in their old games, and the vast majority of piracy is by people who wouldn't buy the game anyway.

Yeah i know, that's what i was getting at, just didn't express it fully. I personally rather spend money on used games most the time anyway since i shop at a local store which is cheaper and better for the economy than a place like gamestop

11 new songs revealed for Rock Band 4!

Once again, I'm happy with every single selection.

LifeAgainstDeath is still waiting patiently for "Eat the Rich" to be put in RB.

An Aerosmith track pack with "Eat the Rich", "Just Push Play", "Rats in the Cellar", and "The Other Side" and probably some other songs would be perfect for me.

All of the songs announced for Rock Band interest me very little to none. I can't see myself going oh I'm going to play this, this, that. I'm really loving GHL songs. I'll get both games anyway though for different reasons.

I honestly think its beyond laughable how bad Guitar Hero Live's setlist is thus far. the thing is, I am a fan of what bands they've announced, but they've picked nearly all the wrong songs for such bands

I didn't expect to get excited about 11 new songs for a game I probably won't be able to get any time soon, but this is quite a pleasing selection.
