Joltik is too cute! My favourite pokemon so far is either Scolipede or Haxorus. They look so badass and their stats aren't too shabby either. |

Lightning knows what's up. Lilligant is also my favorite of this generation, though really there are a lot of Pokemon that are good/great. My faves overall are still Mew, Celebi, and Espeon. Yay psychics! Anyway, obv playan dat FFXIII-2. Will likely post a full review when I'm done with that because the gaming media is claiming "FFXIII sucks" when they gave it mostly decent reviews upon its release. Fuck them and fuck the Final Fantasy "fanbase". |

Yeah basically that, the FF Fanbase sucks. Lilligant is quite awesome, btw. Psychics are generally a strong type and my favourite, but my favourite Pokemon aren't in that category for some reason. I love Marill (DUH), Jolteon, Aerodactyl, Scizor, Joltik, Pawniard, Lucario and Blaziken. Tyranitar and Dragonite are also pretty beastly. I don't get the hate for Gen 5 being a "Digimon" generation, but they say that for every gen so w/e. |

Gil's Gil-Farming Guide For dat FFXIII-2 obviously. Okay, getting gil before post-game sucks asshairs. Like, a ton of asshairs. I think I made something like 200k gil all game. That isn't enough to raise a good monster, not at all. Here's a way to make ~40k per fight. Preparation: Beat the game. Not sure the monster I exploit appears until you do. Do everything in the Yaschas Massif timelines for Encounter Master. More encounters = more gil. It's not rocket science. If you want Rolling in CP, do everything in the Bresha Ruins timelines, too... Not that you need it; acquiring CP is easy enough. Explore every map. That includes both Academia maps, doing all the Paradox Agent quests in Augusta Tower (those are a bitch, use a guide and save yourself the trouble) so you can access floor 13, etc. You *need* Battlemania to speed this shit up. That's all the fragment skills you need. On to monsters/items. Go tame a Moblin in the western part of the Archylte Steppe. You only want its Gilfinder II, which it conveniently comes with, and you want it on the monster that is in at the end of a fight (so, likely a Commando or Ravager, whatever you use to attack with). It only works at the end of a fight. You don't necessarily need this, but it's an easy enough step and it takes 10-15 minutes, perhaps a little longer without Monster Collector. You'll need two Collector Catalogs, which you get through Chocobo racing. The race you need to win twice is Dahaka's Stake. It's fairly easy to win if you pick up the Golden Chocobo in A Dying World and raise it well, which costs a good amount itself. That is unless you pour the Lv. 5 materials you find into it, which I recommend because it's a perfectly good Com until you get Chichu/Odin. Takes around half an hour with a good Chocobo. You next want to upgrade those fuckers to Durable Collector Catalogs. You'll need four Sunpetals, which Microchus drop. Those are in the western area of the Archylte Steppe, too. You'll also need four Phoenix Bloods. You only find like 3-4 throughout the game, so odds are you'll need to buy at least one at Serendipity for 1200 casino coins (or 1600 without Haggler) apiece. Getting the drops is the hard part, even with regular Collector Catalogs. It took me an hour? Go to the Archylte Steppe and get your Durable Collector Catalogs from that cunt Chocolina. The only drawback is they take up all your accessory capacity, but unless you suck/are weak, you won't *need* anything else. You'll need to open up Bresha Ruins AF100. Don Tonberry appears there as a rare monster, and the requisite fragment skills make him appear more. I generally see him half the time. The fight itself takes me around two minutes and I make 21.4k gil BEFORE drops. He will often drop a Scarletite, which you can sell for 18.7k, and rarely a Hermes Sandals, which goes for 11k. Tame him for the achievement/trophy, of course. This takes some time, but you're here, are you not? You'll make somewhere in the neighborhood of 35k-40k gil per fight with this method. I'd estimate this method will net you at least 500k gil per hour, probably closer to 750k-800k with a little luck. Enjoy having all the money you'll ever need. >.> |

Speaking of XIII-2, I got to play it today for a while and I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or amazed. The gameplay is brilliant. Everything I disliked about the first one was fixed in the gameplay; even moving around in the overworld feels natural, save jumping. The battle system is slow as fuck, but hey, it may speed up later on; Lightning's battles were fast. Some little additions here and there, like the removal of that awful animation, the more user-friendly interface, the fact that when your leader dies you continue and all these make the battle system quite fun to use and, as a result, it removes the monotony from the game. Which brings me to the next point. The introduction was great. It brought the player into the battle system and the game in a really exciting, unknown world; players new and old to the series will love an intro like that. I was personally wondering why Lightning was there, while old players will probably be thinking "DAMN SHE IS A BADASS". And then Serah/Noel's main parts come in. And the plot devices begin. Now the story may improve but, so far, it is pretty awful. Serah changes clothes for no reason (prolly explained to be fair), magic is explained very poorly, artefacts are introduced too quickly; it feels like a complete mess compared to XIII's introduction to the storyline, which confused the player yet kept them interested enough to keep playing, with a slow build up to the main plot points, which then set the tone for the rest of the game. Throughout XIII, the player never quite had a goal for the characters, leaving you in constant mystery. In XIII-2, the mystery isn't all that interesting. Lightning's gone, oh noes. She went to Valhalla. Oh well that was quickly sorted. You don't really emphasise at all with the characters because the idea of Lightning being missing is brought in and resolved so quickly that you honestly don't really care. Serah's mystery and despair is thrown all over the place to where it doesn't seem believable. The gameplay came first this time, which is great. It's fluid, it's nice, it's very good. The storyline seemed to be almost a side thing, like they'd work out how they'd get all this to work with that gameplay style later. This isn't a problem, per se, as gameplay is more important, but the storyline is very disappointing so far. Again, I don't mean to make this post seem negative, but I can generally rant and nitpick for longer on things I disliked rather than rave about every tiny good thing. I look forward to playing more. EDIT: Also is it just me or did Squenix give Lightning and Serah as many upskirts as they possibly could? :| |

Getting the ATB +50% charge weapons later on/in post-game really speeds the charging of the ATB segments. Of course, these weapons are drops from one of the tougher enemies in the game. Have fun! Other than that, getting more ATB segments speeds up the charging, as it did in XIII. That's the easiest way to speed it up. Serah's outfit change isn't explained. Then again, the explanation is likely along the lines of, "we need a skintight outfit to pander to our lonely, nerdy male audience". So yeah. Magic? I suspect you mean gameplay-wise, which is true, it's not explained well. In terms of story/lore, it's explained in the datalog and not very well at that. The tl;dr gist is that after the move to Gran Pulse, people discovered they could use teh magikz. I don't get why, either. If it were merely being near Fal'Cie, you'd expect them to know it on Cocoon, but when they lived there, they used a sort of synthetic magic. So Serah's like "lol I can use magic nao" for no good reason whatsoever - even on Cocoon. YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN THAT SHIT. Yup, it's hard to care when you know where Lightning is, what she's doing, and some general JRPG tropes. For example, you just know Serah and Lightning will reunite somehow. It's also hard to care about any place/event on the timeline when what you're doing essentially amounts to "lol just passing through". Really the only good parts of the storyline are those that conclude it. And yes, they were given more upskirts/fetishistic clothing in general. Undermines one of the major things I liked about Lightning, really. She's still a strong character, but if one didn't play FFXIII, that outfit won't give a good first impression. As for Serah, her last outfit was cute without screaming "SLUT". And now she's supposedly getting a pink bikini as $3 DLC. Fuck you, Squeenix. Fuck you. |

Looks like Imma be grinding dem enemies. xP The magic was explained by crystal stuff in the Datalog and it was a horribly plot device. If they'd just said "People who WERE l'Cie are also magical" or something, it woulda been a bit better, but that probably clashes somewhere cuz that's too obvious. Wait, Serah's outfit ISN'T EXPLAINED? The intro quite heavily talked about that. Everyone kept bringing up the clothes and they honestly don't matter other than they needed an excuse for a separate costume? Yeah, the tropes don't help either. You know they'll live happily ever after, Serah was right all along etc. The major plot device which got me, though, was the "illusion" thing. That was bullshit. That is a horrible plot device. Also wow you agree with me on the outfits thing. I thought FFXIII was actually very tasteful in that; while Vanille's costume was still outrageous, the camera angles were all very careful and the design was careful to not show any naughty areas, even making said camera angles comedic instead (Chapters 3 and 9 spring to mind). In the first hour of this game alone, Lightning gets two or three and the camera zooms in on Serah sleeping in a position that just happens to look up her skirt. The problem is that this stuff sells, so people probably enjoy that. Eh. Also Serah's outfit in XIII was insanely cute. This one is wut. >MFW that DLC Sometimes I lose faith in Japan. I mean if they wanted to see her in a pink bikini THAT badly, they have the power to do it in the programming room and I'm sure Rule 34 has got to her (as much as it saddens me). |
