I was gonna say what Ro said, I actually double checked through Vanille's crystarium to be sure. It might be Hope, but I haven't acquired yet on this play through. I still don't care for Sazh as much as the other characters, but darn it Haste is amazing.

DAT STORY TIEM

I actually love Sazh as a character but in combat he felt lackluster so I never really used him. Also I'm a sucker for Lightning and Fang, so there's that.

I love Lightning; my battle team USUALLY consists of Lightning, Snow, Vanille.

Beat Yoshi's New Island. Finished with like 242 lives or something ridiculous like that. I still have a lot of levels to find everything in, but I'll do that another time. Just not feeling the game enough to do that at this point.

Moving on to the new SimCity. It finally went offline and I found it/the expansion for $30, so I said "fuck it" and bought it. I doubt I'll buy the upgrade to the Digital Deluxe version because I think all that came with was some cosmetic shit.

It has some interesting ideas. Using roads to carry water/power definitely streamlines things. It was never challenging to place power lines/pipes and the maintenance cost was negligible, so I'm not sad to see this aspect of the game go. I like the idea of being able to research technologies or what have you; it makes sense. I also like that you have to meet certain requirements (like number of people in the education system or whatever) to unlock buildings like Universities and such. There's no reason you should be able to build a fusion plant just because it's the year 2050 or whatever. It feels a little like a Civilization game, and I'm all bout dat Civ V life. Upgrading your buildings is sweet too; I like this far more than just plopping another police station or whatever.

I suppose you might be able to fill a city in an hour if you know what you're doing, but it took me maybe 6 to fill up all the land I wanted to fill. I left a buffer zone for my Academy/some other things, but beyond that, my land is already filled. This never happened in older games. If I pick a large map in 3000 or 4, it's going to take upwards of ten hours to fill the entire thing, assuming sensible expansion and not just spending money all willy-nilly.

However, the game is predicated on inter-connectivity more than any of the past games. I'll need more than one city before I can determine if the plot sizes are too small, or even if the whole inter-connectivity thing improves the game. I'll probably be moving on to my second city when I play next; my first one has a great foundation built and is in the green.

I'm not particularly attached to ordinances, but it does kind of suck that they're gone. They were another way to specialize your city, which is nice. Want a green city? Enable ordinances that cut down on paperwork, electricity usage, etc. Want money? Enable Legalized Gambling and build your casino, but be prepared for the crime. There's none of that in this game. Density has been overhauled; it's now wholly influenced by the roads you lay down. If they're low density roads, your zones are low density too. Medium? Low or medium density. High density? High, medium, or low. Idk how I feel about this change.

The game looks better than I thought, but it's still not winning any graphics awards. The artstyle isn't bad, but it's not great either. It's just wholly unremarkable, which isn't something I could say for 3000 or 4. Hopefully mods allow people to make HD textures or something, because these aren't great. The music doesn't wow me, but these games have always had more atmospheric soundtracks.

I'll have to play more to decide how much I like it, but I'm not feeling the internet hate for it, outside of the online component that is now thankfully optional.

Fuck all you bitches because I just completed Dark Souls.

I started playing it a week or two ago, I just thought it would be fun to give a go again because of all the hype around Dark Souls II, so I just pirated it.
I had played the game a few times before, and I actually bought it at release for my PS3 (making it more than ok to pirate it lol). I never got far though, I don't think I even got half way through hahah.

I don't know what was different this time, but despite getting a bit stressed out and a little angry here and there, I just kept going. The game is actually an incredible amount of fun, however there are more than just a few places where the game is nothing less than cheap, as Marill said a while back, it's sometimes hard just for the sake of being hard, however most of the time the game is actually quite fair and the reason you died is because you weren't good enough...and maybe a combination of bad gear.

I decided to get myself some of the best armour in the game, and a pretty good weapon as well. I spent a few hours grinding as well. This combination + me having seen most of the bosses before from various Let's Players and stuff made it all relatively easy. In most of the boss fights I actually beat them in my first try, and I think most of my deaths were from stupid shit (like this part....

I'll admit, I did look at some guides and stuff for some parts, but that was mostly to make sure to reduce the amount of tediousness from the game.A large part of this game is just doing stuff over and over again, and some bosses make you walk for ~5 minutes just to get to them from the closest bonfire with plenty of enemies in your way, something that is just incredibly annoying.

I do however plan to not have any help while playing through Dark Souls II when it comes out in April (for PC).

I'm just feeling really proud right now, having beaten one of the "hardest" games of the last generation (if you look away from stupid shit like "I Wanna Be the Guy/Boshy"). I actually think the hardest boss in the game, or at least one of them was the second one, the fucking Gargoyles. I probably tried 10 times to beat them before I finally made it. Other than that the boss most people seem to rage about, Ornstein and Smough I actually beat on my third attempt (first try I lasted about 10 seconds, second try I probably lasted 30 lol).
Now I probably used a pretty cheap tactic in the second half of the battle, where I had the big fat guy humping a broken piller and I just shot arrows and spells at him until he died. :P

I guess the stars aligned for a large part of the game for me, hahah.

I highly recommend that you give this game a try if you have the patience for it.
Now I'm just pumped for Dark Souls II :D

Wow, this became way longer than I planned, oh well.

Playing FTL again. The new update is soooooooooo awesome. There's new variants for each of the original ships, and to unlock them you have to get to the last section in the B variant. I almost pulled it off with the Engi B cruiser, otherwise known as the "Abandon all hope ye fools" or "Steel Deathtrap". LOOK, THE SHIP IS FUCKING GARBAGE. AND I WAS ABOUT 2 JUMPS FROM THE LAST SECTION. IMAD.

EDIT: that went from a what I'm playing to a ToH post pretty quick.
