It's awesome! I love it. I'll never touch CoD (which I rarely
Played anyway) or Battlefield again.

Hahah, that's great :P

I love Titanfall as well, but for me it doesn't have the same longevity as Battlefield. It's amazing for a quick game of action, though. The game needs more optimisation and an ADS slider for PC, though. Switching between the two games is a bit of a nightmare :P

I just finished Half-Life: Opposing Force, the first of two expansions to Half-Life. Both expansions are their own stories with their own characters, though. Everyone knows the first game is from Gordon Freeman's POV, but in the second, you play as a Corporal Adrian Shephard. So at the beginning of the game, Shephard is supposed to stop Freeman and stuff, but then plot twists. I thought it was pretty cool, and I hope Shephard is in some of the HL games I haven't played yet. I don't think I'll review this, but I'd say it's at least as good as the original Half-Life. I still need to do that MGS review though, so uhh maybe this weekend or something idk.

EDIT: I'll probably play the second expansion, Half-Life: Blue Shift, next. It's very short (HowLongToBeat.com has it at 3 hours) and then after that probably MGS2.

From what I have seen, Shepard just kinda disappears, though he cameos in Portal 2's multiplayer.

Finished Half-Life: Blue Shift. I knew it'd be very short, but it still doesn't feel like much happened. I've read that Calhoun and Rosenberg return in HL2, so I guess that's cool, but they didn't seem as interesting as Freeman and Shephard. Looking forward to playing HL2 or Metal Gear Solid 2 or something next.

I installed Dark Souls II yesterday and played a little of it. I started as the Soldier class, and played around with that for about an hour before I went to bed (I started playing at midnight). When I got up this morning though, I felt like I should go with the Knight class instead as I felt the starting gear was just much better and it would make the first part of the game easier, plus I felt like I wasted a lot of lifegems (health "potions"), which are quite essential as you only start with 1 estus flask use (you started with 5 in Dark Souls 1).

The game looks quite fantastic, though, and it runs really well on my low-end rig (well compared to a desktop any way). I've got all the settings except AA and anisotropic filtering set to to high (AA and AF are both turned off, although AF might be like low or something). And the game just looks really nice, definitely more nicer than the previous game (which didn't have graphics settings outside of resolution and AA :P).

Here's a little screenshot I took.

So I took down the first boss today, which felt good. The game isn't particularly hard yet, although I bet first timers will struggle in the first area.

As for the feel of the game, everything feels more substantial, whereas in the previous game your character felt very loose and floaty, in DS2 I feel more in control of my character when walking close to ledges and stuff like that. The combat is a little more sluggish in this game as well, you don't block quite as quickly as you did in DS1 (talking about fractions of a second here). So mechanically this game feels a little more substantial, which is very nice. Going to play loads of DS2 this weekend :D

Does anyone else here have DS2/want to buy it?

I play enough FTL and Binding of Isaac, I don't need another game to punish myself with.

Been playing Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System. Obviously emulating this because it hasn't come out here in English. If there's an FFXII HD remake, odds are it will be this version.

Anyway, the big difference is that it adds a class system. There are 12 different classes, and each uses one or two types of weapons/armor. Mage classes obviously have the most spells, but I've also seen magic on the board of a melee-oriented class like Knight (useful white magic too, like Regen/Curaga). In the original, everyone was able to do/equip everything, which got kind of boring. You actually need to *gasp* adapt as the situation requires in this version. Removing the damage cap is also a fairly big change; at the least it should speed Hell Wyrm/Yiazmat up.

There are also some minor changes, like being able to hit L1 to speed the game up, as in an SNES/GBA emulator or some shit. This is a pretty awesome feature; it cuts travel time down by a fair bit, especially in cities/safe areas. I doubt I'll mess around with controllable Espers since the game is easy enough without summoning them even once, but that's still kinda cool.

Beyond that, I do think the game feels a little easier. I don't know if anything was re-balanced or whatever, but I've had an easy time with most bosses. Well, outside of the Elder Wyrm, but he always gargles balls. Maybe it's just my experience with the game, considering I've done almost everything. (I've done everything except the last 5 bars of Yiazmat and Omega Mark XII)

But yeah, they need to announce XII HD already.

Since Friday I've played Dark Souls 2 for 31 hours according to Steam, so I might write some of my thoughts on the game, and compare it to the other Souls games.

Spoiler: GOTY

I'm really diggin Conception 2. Will probably be doing a review once I complete the game, very interesting and different mechanics, even if it's a little creepy.

Completed Dark Souls 2 today. Took me a bit under 40 hours. I could have finished a bit earlier, but I didn't realise that New Game+ didn't start right after killing the last boss, so I spent some time running around making sure I had gotten most of the stuff I could for the first play through.

Overall the game was a bit easier than Dark Souls. No bosses like the Four Kings were there to wreck your shit. Might also have been the fact that I'm now a bit more experienced with the Souls series since I completed Dark Souls about a month or so before DS2 was released.

I only really struggled with two bosses, the second one and some boss in the middle. The final boss wasn't too bad as all the moves were quite easy to dodge.

I'm sure most of my deaths during this play through were either from falling or from testing out random crap.

Speaking of falling, the level design in Dark Souls 2 is just much, much better. There were almost no stupid ledges were half your body is floating in the air and stupid stuff like that. The world is absolutely amazing, the graphics are gorgeous (obv not as detailed as Crysis 3 and stuff, but very nice for an old gen game, however the PS3/Xbox 360 versions probably looks pretty shit).

I also respeced my character (yeah that's a thing, and it's glorious) from a strength build with a greatshield and stuff to a faith build that uses miracles in the form of lightning bolts to smite my enemies. Definitely a more fun and diverse way to play the game. I haven't started NG+ yet, as I want to dick around some more and maybe do some PvPing and helping out players with boss fights and stuff.

The respecing aspect is very nice. You are able to find an item called a Soul Vessel (you can probably find something like 6 or so per play through) throughout the game which allows you to reallocate your skills (but never lower than the starting stats of your class). The reason this is amazing is that as a new player, or when you first start up you don't really know what class you want to play. Do you want to be a pure melee character? Dexterity focused? Sorcerer or faith? There is a lot to take in at first, so you might level up some skills along the way that you really don't want to use or don't need actually need, something that is not very nice as it can get quite expensive later on. Or if you are like me, and you feel like changing up your playstyle slightly, with a little planning you can tailor your stats to better suit a different class. It's a very nice little item, and it allows you to stay on one character all the time instead of having to make a new one if you really feel like changing it up. However you don't have an infinite amount of these items so you kind of have to think carefully about using them.

If I had to give this game a rating right now I'd probably give it a 9/10 or even 10/10. Absolutely amazing experience. I've never been so hooked to a non-Fallout/Elder Scrolls singleplayer game (I played it for 24 hours in the course of three days!).
Sitting there with shaky hands, your heart beating a million kilometers per hour, and sweat trickling down your brow as you finally take out that boss...the feeling is simply amazing. It's honestly a rush I've never gotten from any other game.

I can just HIGHLY recommend that you get this game if you want to play something that's very exciting, a little hard and just a very nice experience. This game isn't stupid hard in some parts like Dark Souls 1 was, it feels fair all the time. I never got angry from a death in this game as I didn't feel cheated, or like some part was just "stupid" or that the level design was simply bad.
The controls are also very precise and if you mess up, it's your fault, not the game's.

Go along, finish your exams, buy this game and become a total badass over the course of the summer.

I guess that was my impressions thingy of Dark Souls 2. :P

Started playing Game Dev Tycoon for the first time in nearly a year. I've actually made it up the the PS2/Xbox HUEG/Gamecube era for the first time, and it feels pretty good. The game is still pretty basic, though they have added a lot into it, to help make sense of why your game flopped. Wound up playing it for quite a few hours without realizing it.

Game Dev Tycoon is strangely fun once you start playing it. I actually made it to the final stage once or twice, felt pretty good. At a certain point your income just goes through the roof and you can just pump out games like a mofo.
