XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been pretty fun so far, but my entire squad got killed in the last mission I did. It said at the beginning that you couldn't abort the mission, otherwise I definitely would have. Anyway, it's cool. Fightin' gooey aliens and stuff. There's a lot of customization options for your soldiers, but I don't like personalizing them too much because they might die and if I personalize them then it's like a part of me is dying too. Uh I'd recommend it if you like taking turns to kill aliens while researching cool things and preventing panic levels from rising and shooting down UFO's and stuff. So far Mulder's sister has not been found on any of the UFO's I've explored but she's gotta be out there somewhere so I'll probably keep playing. I'm not going to do a big review or anything, but it got game of the year awards from GameSpy, GameTrailers, Kotaku, and more, and it was PC Gamer's Strategy Game of the Year. The expansion, Enemy Within, has been highly-rated too -- I've heard it described as a "true" expansion pack, in the style of older ones, as opposed to something like a map/weapon pack -- but I haven't gotten to the content of the expansion pack yet.

Reinstalled KOTOR and installed a couple of mods to get it to run at 1080p. I haven't completed the game before -- lost my save an hour in the first time -- but I know the plot twist. Should be fun anyway though.

EDIT: Oh, but the "Flawless Widescreen" mod sometimes requires the game to be launched twice for it to allow the higher resolutions to be used. I told Oli (I think? someone in the chat, anyway) that I'd try not to launch it as frequently as Failure, but that was before I installed these mods. Oh well.

I'm playing Sacred 3, Titanfall, and Mass Effect 3. Wasn't blown away by ME2, but so far 3 is awesome.

Finished Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. I think I'll leave Milla's route in Xillia for another time. I don't think I'll be getting Xillia 2 this year because there are other things I want to get. It'll prolly be one of my first games of 2015 though.

Anyway, this game fell a fair bit in my estimation.

Hard in this game is like Normal in any other Tales game. Maybe Moderate, but I've never played that. In any case, this game has the easiest "Hard mode" of any Tales game I've played on Hard. I forgot what guarding was, it was so easy. You don't unlock Mania unless you play through the whole game on Hard, either. It doesn't help the battle fields are HUGE, which makes free run more borked in this title than any except for maybe Abyss (which it's supposedly borked in too, but I haven't played that).

Marta's Radiant Roar is the most OP move in any Tales I've played. It's a Mystic Arte that you learn at level 30, and because this is hard that will happen in chapter 3, or 4 if you do like no side content. It deals 10-15k damage to all enemies and significantly heals your allies. Bosses with Mystic Artes are jokes because you just build your unison gauge, wait for them to use their Mystic Arte, and then use this move to get back on your feet. Outside of boss battles, it's easy to pull off in regular battles too and it ends 90% of them. It's hilariously broken.

I like the monster mechanic and all, but I'd have preferred it if you could level Symphonia characters. They'd be viable for something other than seeing their Mystic Artes. I get they wanted you to take advantage of the monster system, but this feels like such a cheap way of "encouraging" the player to do so. You have almost no choice, and one late boss fight, probably the hardest fight in a normal run, will absolutely punish you for relying on the Symphonia cast.

On that note, bosses were easy for me but that might have had something to do with doing every Katz quest in the game, along with various side quests. Still, I doubt they'd have been very hard even if I didn't go out of my way to do side content. The only challenging boss was the bonus boss, who was still capable of one-shotting my overleveled ass with Meteor Storm.

I checked my NG+ file just to see how much grade I got. I wound up with 3380, which is enough to buy every bonus that will significantly help in a second run. After a second playthrough I'll easily be able to get every bonus lolz. It's stupidly easy to get grade in this game; every boss fight gives you ten just for winning (I got 57 from one, because the game counted it as 4 bosses and then tacked on bonus grade), and it's not uncommon to get 3-5 for winning regular fights.

Not understanding the hype surrounding The Witcher series at all.

It's gorgeous, but that's about all the first game has going for it so far. Gameplay? Boring me to tears. Oh wow I can select a style of left-clicking and maybe right-click against tougher enemies/groups. I have more fun with Skyrim's combat than this, and that's basically Back Up Simulator.

Story? I suppose it might be a slow burner, but nothing has made me feel invested in these events or characters. Even in slower shows/games, there's usually SOMETHING that grabs me within the first 15 hours. I'm not really getting the "mature" vibe from this either. Oh wow it has sex, cursing, and deaths must be teh matoorz.

So basically The Witcher 3 is going to be a glorified benchmark for me. Maybe 2 is better, but I'm not going to play it any time soon unless the second half of this game gets a lot better.

From what I understand (I haven't played either Witcher games), the second game is better with the combat.

I've probably heard that too, but right now I'm at the point where I just don't care. If the combat were good, I guess I could suffer through another 20 hours of meh story/characters, but it's not. I might try 2 before 3 comes out (or before the Summer sale), but right now I think I want to move on to something different.

I've heard from many that the first Witcher game is kind of shit. I haven't played it yet, but I don't expect it to be as good as the second.

Witcher 2 on the other hand is simply amazing. The story is fantastic, the characters are amazing. It took about 2-5 hours for me to really get into it (the combat, potions, stuff in general made me quite confused in the start). Hopefully the Witcher 2 will be better for you. It also has controller support, which worked really well for it. Although I think you're pretty used to playing most everything with KB+M, so I dunno.

Also, this kind of sounds like my impression of GTA IV, lol.

I just started Diablo 3 on Xbox One. It's gorgeous and unbelievably fun to play. I played for three hours straight tonight. I'm also playing Mass Effect 3, Sacred 3, and am about to start Tales of Xillia so that I can play Tales of Xillia 2 in the near future. Trying to play as much as I can before school next week :(

Got my Wii U earlier. Overnight shipping da best. Normally it's like 8000 dollars but it was only $12 more than standard, so wynaut?

The controller is huge. I wonder if "hueg liek Wii U" will become a thing. Original Xbox controllers were huge, but they have nothing on the Gamepad. It's more comfortable than I would have thought for such a big controller, but I still feel like I need to set it down every once in a while. Idk, maybe I'll get used to it. Looking at pro controllers and seeing them around $20 on eBay, which I don't mind paying. I don't see a need to shell out $50 for a regular controller ever, but $20 is acceptable.

Got my external HDD working on this thing. 160 gigs should tide me over for a while unless Nintendo has the GOAT sale on Wii U titles or something. It's Nintendo so I doubt this.

Anyway, games. I've only played Mario Kart 8 so far and it's every bit as gorgeous as I thought it would be. Some tracks are less inspired than others (sup remade tracks like Moo Moo Meadows), but they're all still pretty and I don't really *hate* any of them. Early favorites are probably Electrodrome, Piranha Plant Slide, Mount Wario (heehee), and Music Park.

The AI seems more competent to me. There's the usual item spam, but outside of that they actually seem to be able to throw green shells with accuracy, use mini-turbos, and all that fun stuff. I can't remember the last time I finished in like 5th or 6th, but it happens sometimes in this game. Maybe that's just because I'm not familiar with the game yet, idk.

I still haven't unlocked mah girl Rosalina despite having 28 characters. This is some serious bullshit. Fuck you RNGesus I'll never pray to you aga- oh who am i kidding i play fire emblem

I also have Nintendoland (came with the Wii U), Pikmin 3 (free MK8 game), and picked up MH3U because it was $16. At that price, why the hell not? I need something to play on this thing. I'll probably pick up WWHD or DKC:TF if I feel I need another game, or whatever goes on sale I guess, but this should be enough to tide me over for a little while.

I play pretty much all my Wii U games with just the Pro controller, it's a really great buy. You also chose the best tracks as early favourites so good going. The main strength in MK8 to me is that I only really dislike Dry Dry Dunes and Ghost Mansion for the new tracks, everything else is really great. The Double Dash selection was shit for retro but everything else was pretty good outside of Shell.

You'd actually be surprised how often you catch pretty decent deals on the eshop. More importantly is the good deals you get with Club Nintendo and the Wii U Deluxe Deal which you need to make sure you sign up for. Every game you buy on the Eshop or get for free on the Eshop you get %10 back through the Deluxe Deal, so for me I've gotten both Pikmin 3 and Game & Watch and then gotten $5-6 back on both, and I got $6 back for getting Windwaker with my system, and I get the %10 back for every game I get with Club Nintendo. So, while there aren't always amazing deals, there's definitely some good ones. I'm already in the need of an external Hard drive.

I just finished Mass Effect 3.

It's hard to rank this trilogy, as they are all amazing, but;
ME1 > ME3 > ME2

ME2 was definitely the weakest for me, not only because it was an absolutely horrendous PC port, but because I found the characters and story to be less engaging then the other two games.
ME1 is the best port, or at least the one with the superior control scheme (I also preferred the overheating aspect of the gunplay).

Garrus Vakarian is the single greatest companion of all time ever, ever, ever and...ever. Also ever. Garrus <3<3<3<3 etc.

As for the ending of ME3, I thought it was awesome (however the fact that you have to play online/play iOS games in order to get the best ending was some bullshit). I don't really get what all the hate was about.

I'm going to download the extended cut, and see how that changes things.

I might also re-play ME1 and play as Femshep as I've heard good things about the voice actor, and trying a different playstyle might be fun (played as an infiltrator with my Maleshep).

And if you've never tried the Mass Effect games but like the idea of a story that will blow your mind, an epic sci-fi universe in the Milky Way with fun gameplay, amazing characters and an epic plot...buy the trilogy ASAP.
On PC only ME1 and 2 area available on Steam, so you'll have to get ME3 on Origin. I'm sure you can find a discounted trilogy package on, Origin, XBox Live or PSN.

Somehow, when you mentioned Fem!Shepard voice actress, I just knew it had to be Jennifer Hale, because she is in goddamn everything.

Because she's an amazing voice actor.

Also, yeah from what I've seen, the general opinion is that Jennifer Hale does a better job as Shepard than Mark Meer.
