Smash obviously. More on that at a later date, but suffice it to say shit is hype as fuck.

But outside of that, I bought the Leading Ladies Humble Bundle, which had some interesting shit. I bought it mostly for Long Live the Queen, though Lilly Looking Through and Ms. Splosion Man also seem like they might be fun.

Played a bit of Long Live the Queen since, y'know, that's why I bought it. It's pretty much a visual novel. The objective is to ensure the future queen survives until her coronation, which isn't as easy as it sounds. You have to ensure she takes the right classes so she can recognize danger/win fights/etc, and you have to balance her mood so she can effectively learn needed skills. Rock, Paper, Shotgun called it a Sansa Stark simulator, and that's not very far off.

All the events happen in the same order every time, so I could probably beat this game really quickly if I looked up a guide/wrote down what skills I need for certain events, but I feel that would suck a lot of fun out of it. Half the fun, to me, is seeing how she'll die, how commoners/royals will react to what she does, what can happen to your kingdom, and of course being an asshole to everyone. Knowing what to do at this point would just sap the fun.

I don't think it'll significantly impact my Smash time, but it's fun to sit down and try to get through the story once or twice before I do something else. Takes me about an hour to do this, so yeah, it's good in bite-size chunks, which is nice.

A Bird Story launched today. If you didn't play To the Moon (shame on you), you probably won't care in the least since this is a bridge between that game and a proper sequel. The (working?) title is alluded to after the credits and I think I'll leave that for you guys to find.

But yeah, Kan Gao did it again. This game has more EMOTIONS than most games that actually have words. As with To the Moon, a big part of the reason is due to the music. Laura Shigihara didn't work on the OST this time but it's still really good. The story itself is pretty simplistic but it's executed well and it's one I think we can all relate to.

Also, Xenoblade. I got that working in Dolphin with HD textures, and shit is more gorgeous than many PS3/360 games. Probably not as graphically impressive as they are, but there aren't many games that hold a candle to it in the artstyle department.

I feel like I've done most of what that has to offer. I don't know how many quests I have left, but it's not very many. Think I'm just going to max relationships, look around for some more quests, fight the superbosses, and finish this one off. I probably don't have more than ten more hours of stuff to do.

Do you mind posting a link to the Xenoblade ROM you used?

Would be fun to try it out.

Beat Bayonetta 2 earlier this week. Don't know what to say about that except, "it's more Bayonetta". This is great if you enjoyed the first, as I did. It's really not much easier in terms of fights than the first was, but a lot of the stupid bullshit from the original doesn't exist in the second. There are plenty of health pickups, which the original sorely lacked. They help ensure that you'll go into most fights with more than a sliver of health. There are no fucking insta-death QTEs, which are the worst thing ever invented. Also, there's only one short part in which you have to ride something. Chapter 14 in the original occupies a special space in hell; it's just not fun.

But yeah, the sequel basically iterated on an already good game and made it great. Sure, at the expense of some difficulty, but I'm sure the higher difficulties will be pretty hard for most of us.

New MK8 tracks came out today. I don't feel they were all that spectacular, but you can't argue with the value: $8 for eight tracks, three racers, and four vehicles, or $12 for both packs. I paid the $12 and got it over with.

Excitebike Arena is a fun novelty track. It's different every time you race it, but the difference is in how the obstacles are arranged. Excitebike's 8-bit music was pretty coo' and hearing the updated version is kinda nostalgic. When I was young (I know, back in the Stone Ages), I mostly just messed with the track editor. As you might expect, there's a standard layout for time trials.

This update of SMK's Rainbow Road is kinda meh. The reason that track was so fun/chaotic/whatever is that it was easy to fall off. This version is wider, as I would expect in a game balanced for twelve racers, but outside of one or two spots (occupied by Thwomps, naturally), it's not really easy to fall off.

Mute City/Hyrule Circuit are pretty coo'. I like tracks that feel fast, and Mute City creates that feeling with boosts, boosts everywhere. I also enjoy its general aesthetic. Hyrule Circuit is just a decent track with great music. The music in Zelda games doesn't stand out to me, but this arrangement of the main theme (and maybe additional tracks idk) is pretty awesome.

The rest of the tracks feel like they're just... there... to me. I'd probably wind up picking Dragon Raceway or Wario's Gold Mine at some point in an online session because they aren't bad tracks, but those aren't must-race tracks in the same way as tracks like Mount Wario, Electrodrome, or Piranha Plant Slide.

I met someone else who owns Dissidia, so we've been playing that a bit. Apparently I didn't finish the game -- only played through the stories for FFI-FFVIII -- so my characters range from level 1 to level 34, but I think all of his characters are 80-100 and he has good items and stuff. He handicapped himself down to my levels when we played, but I played some of the story mode today to level some peoples up. Started Zidane's story and got to his final fight against Kuja, but I'm struggling to beat him since I'm a noob.

Found an old save of mine on Game Dev Tycoon where I was sitting around 200 million and had a full staff of useless bastards that I was paying nearly 100k each a month. So I loaded it up, fired everyone, hired an entirely new staff, and held out until I could develop the single most powerful console you can and released a brilliant AAA game for it. Currently sitting around 900 million and preparing to make the MMO to end all MMOs.

Also have been playing Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth, which is bloody brilliant, and FTL with the Captain's Edition mod, which is still damn near impossible.

So I've been playing Crusader Kings 2 the last couple of days. I am enjoying the ever-loving-fuck out of it, but, man, is it complicated. Keep your vassals happy, can't declare war on a country that is a co-religionist unless you have a claim, holy war to your heart's content, make sure you have an heir in your dynasty, beware the Mongol horde, etc., etc. If you like the political intrigue of Game of Thrones, you will probably find it at least entertaining to take part in. Just mind the learning cliff.

Fell down the rabbit hole of modding Skyrim. I swear I've probably put like 15 hours (if not more) into modding the damn game alone. But it's so, so worth it. I'll probably post screenshots at another time.

Let's see what I'm running.

Obviously have all official DLC.
Unofficial Patches are always the first mods you should get for a TES game. Even if you intend to play vanilla otherwise, these are must-haves.
Skyrim Project Optimization is worth getting, does things even the Unofficial Patches don't do.
Skyrim Script Extender is a must for a lot of the best things.

In the graphics department I'm running a looooot of things:
RealVision ENB
Skyrim 2k
various aMidianborn texture packs
SMIM
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Enhanced Lights and FX
Better Dynamic Snow
Grass on Steroids (EDIT: Don't download this, this shit murders FPS even on monster rigs. Gorgeous grass but not worth the 15-20 FPS hit, especially when SFO makes vanilla grass look half decent.)
Enhanced Blood Textures
Cinematic Fire Effects 2
Realistic Water Two
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Book Covers Skyrim
mods for Rainbows/Shooting Stars, just because
some mods for the night sky I can't remember

These are just the more notable ones IMO. There are moar mods, but most of them are for the smaller things: Clutter, booze bottles, etc. The Book Covers mod is surprisingly huge. Even though the game has a ton of books, I didn't expect 900 MB when unpacked.

It should go without saying you'll require a powerful rig to run a lot of this stuff.

Immersion stuffs:
Frostfall
Wet and Cold
Climates of Tamriel
Sounds of Skyrim
Immersive Weapons/Armors
Immersive Patrols
Run For Your Lives
When Vampires Attack
The Choice is Yours
Magic Duel
a few that enhance various cities/villages
SkyUI since idk where else to put it

Also running some of the bigger quests: Falskaar, Wyrmstooth, Elsweyr, and Helgen Reborn. I'll probably add more at some point, but I know these are going to be good ones.

I feel like I left out some more stuff, but whatever. When I mod a TES game, I generally mod it for better graphics, immersion, and more quests. Tried one of the female body replacers but it wasn't my jam, so I uninstalled that shit. I don't think I'll try them again for either sex.

Finally playing a character I had previously made though, so I guess that counts for something. I made her a High Elf because High Elves are the most ballin' race (fuck the Thalmor doe) and because I wanted to make magic a central part of her character. High Elves get an extra 50 MP, which comes in pretty handy early. Other than the mage stuff, she's also a thief and will have some Pickpocket/Sneak skills to supplement that. Gave her a bow as her weapon, so she'll get some Archery skills.

Got her in the Thieves' Guild/College of Winterhold atm. Thinking I'll start on the Dawnguard expansion soon-ish, like when I get her to 20, then move on to the Dragonborn expansion.
