The choices never matter.

I played The Wolf Among Us twice and did drastically different things, and it was way different. I got whole scenes that never happened the first time. Yeah, the epilogue cutscene was the same both times, but just because that's the literal last scene doesn't mean that there was no difference in the story; there was a really big difference. If you're looking at it like, "story ended with x event," then you're ignoring the rest of the story and all of the character development.

I will give you that. The Wolf Among Us does give the player more freedom with some choices. I wouldn't say drastically different since most of the choices you made didn't limit what choices you could make later, but the alternate scenes were nice. However, the other three episodic TT games I have played, TWD 1 & 2 and Jurassic Park, had far less player control.

I still wish the choices could were more impactful, like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book or plenty of visual novels. I feel like a wrong choice ending the game early, a fork giving multiple different endings, or a string of good choices giving you a perfect ending is a lot more satisfying than the formula they have now.

Bought Grim Fandango Remastered as part of the Summer Sale, and I'm really enjoying it right now. All the characters are great and the interactions and quips are hilarious.

So I usually assume sequels -- especially with video games -- won't be better than the originals, but I've been playing Fallout 2, and it's definitely better. Sure, I had fun with Fallout 1, but it seems like there's a lot more to do in 2. Gameplay is generally the same -- though there's a steep difficulty curve in the beginning if you don't invest in combat-oriented stats at the beginning -- but the world feels so much more open and alive. I'm not too far in right now -- like seven hours or so -- so I'm still discovering the important locations and everything, but I really hope Bethesda's games keep the spirit of the first two alive (I've only played like a couple hours of 3 so idk). It seems like that could be hard to do with modern graphics and voice acting -- seems like it'd force it to be too realistic/gritty/unfunny -- but I'll find out soon enough.

I created a new Xbox profile and it came with a free month of Xbox Live so I got to download new rosters for NCAA 14. So it's pretty much like getting NCAA 16 for free.

Started Fallout 3. Skyrim spoiled me because when I looked at the world map, I thought it was small. I mean, I'm sure there's plenty to do, but I just thought it was weird that I thought it was small. Thanks, Skyrim. Also uh I'm going for a more neutral character here -- usually my WRPG characters do good stuff no matter what, so I just wanted to change it up a bit.

I also started playing Arkham City in German, because yeah. They sometimes talk fast but I have German subtitles on. It's just annoying because I sometimes have to stop and read stuff, though I think I'll ease up on that a bit. I don't need to understand every word, especially when it'll be summarized when it says "go over there and meet this character" in the quest/mission tracking thingy.

This is actually a pretty cool way to learn a new language. Good luck! I played about 10 hours of AC after finishing AA, but I stopped. I guess I just got Arkham fatigue. Still want to get back into that game, though.

Yeah, I was thinking it'd be a good way to learn too. I can usually read well enough, because it's not really time-sensitive (can go back and re-read, look up words, etc.), but listening to stuff is another thing. I'm bad at understanding native German speakers 'cause they just talk so fast. So yeah, games are cool, and I picked Batman since superhero stuff usually has pretty straightforward plots. I'm definitely not playing The Witcher in a foreign language any time soon :P .

If this doesn't make you want to play Hatoful Boyfriend, I have nothing else to say.

(this UI isn't the one in the Steam version but text is the same and stuff)

I played all that I plan to play in 3 for now (main story, all the DLC's, and some random side stuff), so I started New Vegas, and I already like it so much more. 3 was good and all, but a buncha people who worked on Fallout 2 with Interplay worked on New Vegas with Obsidian, and it shows. It just feels so home-y for me compared to 3, so yeah, I'm biased, but eh. I'll probably do more exploring in New Vegas than I did in 3 -- I wouldn't say I rushed through 3, but I didn't do too much exploring because I wanted to get some time into both before school starts up again, that way I can be ready for 4 (because it was definitely important to play all of them before 4). It's also making me want to get into Skyrim again, but not quite yet.

I agree, New Vegas is definitely the better game. It just has so much more in it. The athmosphere in FO3 is better, but overall I much prefer the world of New Vegas. It actually has interesting characters!

I started up a new New Vegas save last week, I went with a low intelligence build, low charisma and just super good in everything else, I also went with the more evil Caesar's Legion, which is pretty cool so far. I rarely play an evil character (and even when I do, I try to be nice...), but it's freeing to slay NCR soldiers. :D

Low INT wasn't as fun as I had thought, but it's still kind of cool to have your character reply with stuff like "Me buy things" and just all kinds of misunderstandings. I am pretty excited to see how Fallout 4 handles low intelligence since it's voice acted.

Spent an unhealthy amount of money on Vita stuff, so obviously P4G. I know I'll platinum the game; I just don't know if I'll do it all in one shot or not. I have to play through at least twice, hear 250 of Rise's lines, and fuse every Persona, amongst other tedious shit that I don't look forward to.

It's pretty much the same P4? Some of the differences are welcomed. Choosing skills to pass on to new Personae is one of the best new features of the series. Hitting square constantly to get 2-3 (or more) acceptable skills was not fun. It will never be fun. The extras menu is cool and I hope future Persona/SMT titles have it. Most of the differences just build on concepts that were present in the original P4/newer SMT titles, though. They're cool, but I'd hardly say most of them justified a new version.

It's not worth buying a PSTV or a Vita for P4G alone, but if you were going to buy one for other stuff (I bought it for Persona/Danganronpa, mainly, but there's a lot of stuff I want), this is obviously worth buying. It's the definitive version of one of my absolute favorite games, so... Yeah.

New episode of Life is Strange party hard.

I... don't know how I feel about it.

We got "In My Mind" this episode. I thought it'd make for a good ending song, but it fits pretty well where it's used too.

These choices were all pretty hard choices. The first choice of the chapter would be impossible, except you have your handy dandy new power, which you then use to escape any real consequence of said choice. I feel it takes some of the gravity away. But I guess Max would always know she made that choice. There's also a fairly intricate dialogue tree about halfway through, and getting through it the first time without pissing a certain character off is very difficult. I wouldn't say it's *impossible*, but it's not easy. It can turn out three different ways, but I eventually got through it with no violence, which is the outcome I wanted for this file.

Most of this chapter is, finally, an "investigation" into the main suspect. I use that term pretty loosely; it's more like "steal information from people and piece it together around the halfway point of the chapter". This isn't L.A. Noire or some shit, so I didn't expect a deep investigation, but I expected a bit more than this. It accomplishes what it's supposed to do, which is convince you that the game's main suspect is indeed the person who did it. But that'd be too easy, wouldn't it? I figured out something was amiss when a certain character seemed very nonchalant about a situation that obviously never should have been allowed by someone in their position, but that was like ten minutes before the grand reveal and the major plot twist of this chapter. However, in retrospect, everything falls into place.

I think the reason I'm not so high on this chapter is that it pushed aside things that I would have liked to learn about in order to press on towards the ending. The alternate timeline you go into at the end of episode 3? You're not there for very long, and you learn very little about anyone or anything going on there. The Rachel/Chloe relationship? This *really* could have used development, for spoiler reasons. We're supposed to feel something because ZOMG CHLOE SAID THEY WERE BESTIES, but nope. There are also things like the Prescott family's story and the killer's motives, but one or both could conceivably be covered in the next chapter.

I'm still enjoying it and all, but there's a lot of ground to cover and only one episode left, and I'm not sure how well they can wrap it all up with ~3-4 hours remaining.
