Catherine.

It's a short game if you pick/change the difficulty to easy/normal and are half-competent at games. I've only played for three hours and have made it to the fourth night's "boss battle". There are only eight. I really, truly don't see where the reviewers on sites like IGN are coming from. I have had some difficulty, but it's nowhere near the level of difficulty the average reviewer claims it's at.

Then I started drinking and quit playing. I somehow doubt that drinking IRL helps me control Vincent in Catherine. >.>

It's like I said on FB:

"LAD on FB"

I've determined that Catherine is only frustratingly difficult if you just pull out blocks without thinking of the consequences, and addictive fun if you actually use your brain. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that the reviewers who baaaaw'd about its difficulty just have no skill.

The reviewers just really suck at the game. I did struggle with the first floor of stage 4, but that's because I wasn't really used to the game and wasn't thinking.

Ok I  have seen a few people on my list playing Catherine. What is it all about?

I'll be writing a review within the week, I'm sure, but here's a short description.

The story is about a man named Vincent and his relationship with his girlfriend Katherine. Vincent is pretty happy with where he is in life, Katherine wants to tie the knot and all that. Then Catherine comes into his life, they have a tryst, and things start going to hell in a handbasket. Vincent starts having nightmares about being chased, but he forgets them every night. All he knows is that he feels he was chased and that he didn't sleep.

Said nightmares make up the gameplay. You climb towers made up of blocks, and naturally you have to move these blocks so you can move up the tower. Each night culminates with you having to outrun a boss, which is a manifestation of one of the issues in Vincent's relationship.

I'd try the demo. Unless it really impresses you or you're into the games the Persona team puts out, it's probably best to rent it or wait for a price cut.

Played the El Shaddai demo. Unfortunately it was really short. I love the artstyle; it's very unique. The gameplay wasn't shabby either, at least in that level. IIRC every level has different shit going on. If this came out any other month, I'd probably pick it up, but Madden '12 comes out on the 29th and I am definitely getting that the first chance I get.

Also playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It's gorgeous. I'll often just stop and look at a view that's caught my attention. But man, am I really sucking at it. Even on easy, I'm still dying. >.> Having fun with it though, which is what counts.

If you think Drakes Fortunes is gorgeous, just wait until you play Among Theives.

So true.

Also, Among Thieves is easier. You don't die as much, the controls are smoother and throwing grenades is a lot easier.

This. IIRC, you used tilt controls to throw grenades in the first game? Yeah, not fun. The sequel is definitely better. The UC3 beta seemed like more of the same (in multiplayer) but with a lot more customization.

Tried the Civ Rev demo.

Clunky controls are clunky. I am totez staying with Civ IV unless I find Civ Rev at a low price. And have nothing better to get. So pretty much... Close to never.

On the other hand, that kind of put me in the mood for a real Civilization game, so off to play some Civ IV.

Suppose I can give an update of what I'm playing atm.

SNES: Super Mario All-Stars - Just something to play when I'm bored and need something simple to occupy my time.

N64: Shadowgate 64: Trial of the Four Towers - Started a file the other day (because the stupid memory card deleted my old one). Not sure if I'll continue for a while. Might put this game on hold.

PS1: Revelations: Persona - This game did not age well. I like the first person dungeon exploring. I hate the battle system (auto-battle is my best friend in this game). Haven't been playing it that much. Probably will put this game on hold until I finish P4 and maybe P3...and maybe Digital Devil Saga...and Nocturne...and maybe some other stuff...

PS2: Persona 4 - Progress is slow though I'm finally nearing the end of the game...I think. Almost 70 hours in. Gotta be near the end, right? Been busy doing side-quests and social links since I gotta wait for the plot to move forward.

PS3: Red Dead Redemption - Progress is slow with this game too because I keep getting distracted by side-quests.

3DS: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - Took a little break from this after beating it, but now I'm doing Master Quest. Just beat the Forest Temple. Fun fun.

Downloaded Project 64 and played some F-Zero X last week. Fun game, but it gets a little boring after a while.

Started playing Portal 2 (bought it with my PS3 for like $10) about two days ago. I'm at chapter 7 so far. IIRC there are 10 chapters. Very fun game, and I love the narrating, hilarious and very intriguing. I understand why the Portal series are so popular. Shame I didn't play the first one.. >_>
Should PROBABLY pick buy it over steam...and I should probably get steam.
