I saw that movie a few years ago. I didn't understand it at all. My friend who made me watch it also liked to fast-forward through movies, so that could have factored into it as well. |

Plus if you haven't seen the series you're kind of out of the loop.
You didn't burst into tears when Wash died? That was so much more depressing than Book.
Also, it accurately portrayed how I see most anime. |
Yeah, Wash's death was sadder than Book's, IMO. However, I also liked him more than Book during the series too, so that could be why, I guess.
While we're on the topic, I did get my friend to watch Firefly. He's watched all of it now because his sister has it, but they don't have Netflix so he's going to try to find Serenity at the library but he can't always find stuff there. So he's going to watch the first season of Buffy now, which his sister also owns. But she doesn't have the rest of it. I think he gets all of his TV/movie stuff from the library (all the video rental places we have here have been gone for a while now). They didn't have Stargate there, but he knows they have Battlestar Galactica so he's gonna watch that since I started it recently so we can talk about it and stuff. ANYWAYS, just watched The Thing. It was... Well, it was disgusting. Aside from that, though, it was alright, I guess. The general flow of the plot went the same as the other sci-fi horror movies I've seen, though. Except... Everyone always says the black guy dies first, and I have yet to see a horror movie where the black guy does indeed die first.
And in this movie, one of the survivors was a black guy.
I'm not saying black guys should die first, but the stereotype came from somewhere and well I haven't seen that. |

I'm late as hell on this, buuuut It seems most of the people that have seen the hunger games movie, haven't read the book. The reason most of the contenders are barely mentioned is that the book is "written" by Katniss. If she doesn't know thier names or see them, then you shouldn't know who they are. She doesn't want to know the names of her enemies since she's trying to keep them as distant as possible, because she doesn't want to kill. The book isn't a love story like the movie, it's very different and makes the character of Katniss a lot more complicated. All of the characters in the book that are important (Katniss, Haymitch, Peeta, Cinna, her crew, Rue) were all more fleshed out in the book. As for the violence, it was pretty graphic for a PG-13 movie, but that's about as mild as they could have got it and truly adapt it from the book. The violence in the book was just gruesome, as was Haymitch's alcoholism (which would've been played perfectly by Harrelson if they didn't stip down his role) It's a good movie, but is so shallow compared to the book. But now that I've read the Catching Fire and am reading Mockingjay, I think they'll do a much better job on them. Although there's about few important parts they screwed up in the movie that will take away some of the effect of the sequels-the mockingjay pen, the lack of introducing her crew, not mentioning the avox, and some other things that I don't want to say since I don't want to ruin it for the people who haven't seen the movie. All of these seem small if you just read the first book, but they become more important later on. |

I agree that they focused too much on the Peeta/Gale thing in the movie. It does exist, but since the books are from Katniss' perspective, it's only seen after the first book. Catching Fire does focus a good portion on Katniss trying to decide her feelings on Gale and Peeta. Also, Harrison would have been infinitely funnier than he already was if they hadn't cut back the drinking. |

Except his alcoholism was fueled by dying children, so you felt bad for laughing. I didn't think the movie overdid the romance. The book dealt with it way more. The entire tedium of the cave scene was significantly shortened, which is where most of it happened anyway. |

It's not that the movie overdid the love, it's just that in the movie, you can't understand her true feelings, which is impossible to convey in the movie, unless they would have made her narrate it or really captured her expressions. I can't lie, it was a hard feat to accomplish and you can't really get mad that they didn't get it right. They'll just have to make up for it in Catching Fire, although they could have easily done it in a minute if they would have ended the movie the way it should have been. |

Saw The Avengers last night, definitely worth the hype. All the heroes had thier moments to shine and it had just the right amount of comedy, story, and action. Probably going to see it again Sunday. Also, nothing was greater than the fact that when the movie was over it was thundering and lightening and when I turned on the radio Soundgarten's new single (the theme song to the movie) was playing. |

I don't remember the name of the movie, but it's a Disney production about the Little Rock Nine. I remember watching it before in a past class. The movie is as infuriating to watch as it is educational. |

THE AVENGERS WAS AWESOME. The audience, however, wasn't. Apparently it's humorous when someone falls down and gets up, so it's worth a large amount of shrieking laughter and applause. And this wasn't even an "...is he dead?" kind of fall-and-get-up, this was a "oh no I stumbled back in a fight" fall-and-get-up. They laughed at a lot of other stuff, too. Yeah, I thought the stuff was funny, but when I can't hear a couple sentences because everyone's laughing and clapping at the smallest things, it's annoying. But the movie itself was awesome. |

There was alot of laughing when I went to, but the only time it went "too far" I guess was a certain part with Hulk towards the end. I'm sure you'll know what part I'm talking about |

Yup CAL, I know what you're talking about. They laughed at that a lot here too. I chuckled, but that one girl with the shrieking laugh did that for a bit and other people laughed loudly too. |

Just watched "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" Eh, it was a decent movie, albeit it was very predictable and there were plenty of clichés. |
