Thing is, I don't care for Alien, so I just judge it on its own.

Donnie Darko - what a messed up film. I really liked it, good acting, especially Gyllenhaal, which surprised me, since most everything I know him from is pretty meh. Also, dat ending. I was like, wait wut. But still, great movie, recommend. 9/10

Bronson - This is a very artsy film. Very simple plot based on the real life prisoner Charles Bronson: man is very violent, goes to jail, gets out, goes back. That's basically it. Also, Tom freaking Hardy plays Bronson. This movie made me even more excited about Dark Knight Rises, which I didn't know was possible. Tom Hardy did an amazing job here, he managed to make an insane violent criminal easy to empathize with. Also, Tom Hardy dick. There's a lot of it, and I didn't need to see it. 8.5/10

Lethal Weapon - I remember looking for this movie on Netflix and not finding it, and then it just pops up. I was all "wait, where did that come from?" Anyway, I watched it, because I had heard it was awesomazing and I love Mel Gibson (as an actor and director, not as a person). It was great, but probably not as good as I had heard. Not much ever is, but still. It might be because the buddy cop style has gotten stale, and I was just like "yeah, saw that coming". Of course, I realize that this was brand new when it came out, which is why I hate when things become cliche, because the originals get dragged down too. Still, great. 7.5/10

The Big Lebowski - It really says a lot about a film when you've never seen it, yet when you see a certain scene or hear a certain line, you know it. This movie is freaking everywhere, and I guess that's why I watched it. I kept seeing references to it and not getting any of them. After watching the movie, I was just like "oh, that's where that came from!" It was great, and very funny. Jeff Bridges was great, as he always is, but I was surprised at how hilarious Goodman was. He was probably the best part of the film. Well, now that I've seen this I can fit it! 9/10

Drive-I knew this movie was violent, but dear god, it's vulgarly vicious. I get the feeling this movie kind of scared away a lot of people by combining two weird genres: art film and action. I felt like I had unrealistically high expectations going in, but I wasn't crushed. It was good, hyper bloody, and dripped visual style, even if thirty seconds of dynamic lighting of someone's face in slo-mo gets annoying. 8/10

Lost in Translation-I feel like I both did and didn't get this movie. I understand that Japan is symbolic of where they are in their lives, lost and confused. They find comfort in each other and whatnot. What I didn't get was their relationship to each other. I wasn't quite sure how far up the friendship ladder they went, so I don't know if I missed an entire element or not. There's also the ordeal of not a lot happens. Yet the acting is superb, and overall it's still whimsical. Also, I'm pretty sure that really kinky song Paige entered in a Song Contest once was playing in the strip club scene. 7/10

Weird, I just watched Drive too. I didn't find it as violent as lots of other movies I've seen, but still violent. I enjoyed how the director didn't add any dramatic music during the fights or driving scenes. It was quiet and violent. Also, Ryan Gosling said like, 10 lines. It was weird. I was surprised how this film turned out, since when I saw the trailers I was thinking this would just be another Fast and Furious kind of thing.

Also, this movie is by the same guy who did Bronson. If you liked this movie, go watch Bronson.

Just watched Pulp Fiction. Not much to say, really. It's a good movie and I like how they added some dark comedy into it and made it fit perfectly.

And of course, Jackson and Travolta were awesome in it.

Night of the Living Dead -- Hmm... Well, it had every zombie movie/game stereotype I know of. Not much to comment on, really.

Yeah, I know it did, just kinda thought they would have gone in a different direction with zombies by now. Y'know, now that Night of the Living Dead has been out for nearly 50 years. I guess some have done things differently -- The Walking Dead, World War Z, Zone One, The Rising -- but for the most part, yeah, not much change. Then again, it's a lot easier to change a genre in a book -- such as these four -- than it is to spend millions of dollars on a movie that does something different, which might turn some people away from it.

I think I was the only one I know who liked it. It was my favorite movie I can remember seeing last year. BUT I STILL NEED TO SEE MONEYBALL AHHHH. But anyway, I guess it didn't exactly bring much new to the table in many regards, but I don't think I've seen any quiet action hero pulled off so well. And you can't really talk about how good the movie is without mentioning the style. That's really what put it on the map. Great movie.

Act of Valor - Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen, and the best war movie I ever saw. The entire cast was made up of real Navy SEALs and soldiers in the US marine corps. The whole movie was based as close as humanly possible to what real SEAL missions look like and how they usually go down. As I watched it, I noticed how real it actually felt. It didn't look fake, it was phenomenally filmed, directed and acted, and it showed some really neat stuff. it almost makes me want to be a SEAL.

So it's different from the shitty trailers, which were pretty much "Michael Bay but with teh reel SEALs"?

Just got back from seeing Prometheus. let me make this perfectly clear:

ITS AN ALIEN PREQUEL

IT HAS ONE OF THESE:

Posted Image

for some reason people are like "is it an alien prequel?" and other people say "NO" or "SORT OF" or "MAYBE"

he answer is YES. So clearly yes, that I cannot even fathom how people still are skeptical evan after viewing the film.

that said, the movie was great. I can't wait for the sequel to it that was clearly set up.

hurr

but seriously, for some reason everyone is like "ITS NOT A PREQUEL TO ALIEN GUYS" yeah it is. I don't understnad why people don't think it is. Its like saying Star Wars Episode 1-3 was not a prequel to episodes 4-6.
