:3 Take a vacation to Austin, or somewhere else that has a red dot: Posted Image Or you could wait until the day it comes out on DVD. Maybe that will be soon enough. But I do think it'll be expanding more as time goes by. Hopefully. |

Dark Knight Rises-best of the trilogy in my opinion. The story was so much better than the other ones and there's plenty of good surprises at the end. Also, imo, the three best superhero movies were released this summer. Each of them did their own thing and each of them I was glad to pay to go more than once (meaning, yes, I'll be seeing this again) Add in The Hunger Games and this summer has been amazing movie wise for me |

I finally watched TDKR. Fucking epic. And now I can read Snow's post.
Batman's had lots of Robins. The first, Dick Grayson, went off on his own and formed the Teen Titans and became Nightwing, and much later, replaced Batman when he went missing. Then there's Jason Todd, who got killed, but later revived and became Red Hood. Then there's Tim Drake, who was just Robin. And then finally, Damian, who is Batman's and Talia's son. So yes, Robin goes off on his own sometimes. Also, I felt stupid when they revealed Talia. I was all, "okay yeah, I guess Bane is Ras' son, that's new." And then Talia comes in and I'm all "oh...duh. Ras doesn't have a son."
|

Hmm okay then. I have too many comics I want to read, so... yeah... Interested in reading Iron Man, Batman, The Avengers, Green Lantern, X-Men, and Deadpool. There are some others too, but they're ones that are actually easy to pick up and read because they're just one series and there's not like five alternate universes and twenty spinoffs with continuity issues 'n stuff. So there's that and I don't know if I should read the originals, or the recently-rebooted versions of them (for both DC and Marvel, IIRC). |

For Deadpool just get the Deadpool series. I would say just start with the New52 for DC stuff. I dunno what Marvel does. |
Actually, he does/did have a son. Ra's switched bodies with him or something, so I guess he's technicality dead.
Edit: @Snow, definitely go with the New 52. Anything before that is no longer definite canon material since everything is being rebooted. As for Marvel, I think the Ultimate comics are the reboots there. Not sure as I don't really read comics that often. |

Saw The Dark Knight Rises (like I see how many of you have as well). Very well done, but it could have used a few more minutes of "the batman", and a few less of bruce wayne IMO. To me this seems more like Gotham citys story than Batmans (if that makes any sense), but still very well done. I would rank it as good as batman begins, but not as good as the dark knight. |

@Mac/Andami -- Thanks. I knew about Marvel's Ultimate series, but hadn't looked into DC much yet. One friend of mine is into Marvel, another is more of a DC fan, but he doesn't read as much as the Marvel friend. |

Just watched "Batman Begins". I haven't seen the entire movie, and it's been a long time since I watched part of it. What a great movie! It was very cool seeing the origins of Batman. Going to re-watch "The Dark Knight" tomorrow and then sometime next week I'm going to see "The Dark Knight Rises". Psyched! |

Seen quite a few movies since my last post: Savages: There really isn't too much to say about this. It's a pretty average action movie. The only thing I feel that stood out was that the villain was actually quite well done. She wasn't the plain evil bad guy who is completely awful. Not to say she's good (cartel leader), but she was at least a little sympathetic at points. Acting, writing, cinematography, plot pacing, etc. were all decent, but not great. The worst part was the ending. Really, really not very good. The movie wasn't a waste of time, but there are plenty of better ones to spend your time on (including all the others in this post). 6/10. The Intouchables: Warning: if you don't like to read, don't see this. It's French. If you are okay with reading (or can understand spoken French), I'd recommend it. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it's a nice little feel-good story. Lots of funny moments and good drama too. The side-stories could be a little slow. That's the only real problem I saw in this movie. Some reviews I read said it played on racial stereotypes too much, and maybe I did see some a little bit, but that's really only because I was looking for them. Good movie, worth a watch. 8/10. Moneyball: I think my expectations for this were a little high, perhaps partly because I'm an A's fan (Asfan = A's fan? :o). Still, I really liked this. Brad Pitt gave an excellent performance. Don't get the Jonah Hill Oscar nomination though. Good, but nothing that stood out. It really was cool to see how a film of a baseball season and some of Billy Beane's personal life could incorporate dramatic elements and be told so well, as if it really were a fictional one. As opposed to Savages, I thought the ending was the best part of this one. Pretty moving, and a great reflection on Billy Beane, or at least as he is portrayed in the movie. 8.5/10. Memento: Another one where my expectations were a little high. Maybe I was expecting something more like Inception minus the grand settings rather than something like Following. It was a little disorienting with the plot structure, and I can see why it was chosen to be done like that, but it got a little tiring after a while. And really, I wish the ending wouldn't completely spell every single thing out like it did. Overall though, it was a good low-ish budget film that kept me pretty entertained. 8/10. The Tree of Life: This is a pretty tricky one to review. I've never seen a movie anything like this one, and odds are you haven't either. It's sort of experimental, but not completely all the time. Took me a while to see where it was going. 10-15 minutes into the film, it goes to a pretty long (30 minutes maybe?) montage that has little to do with the story, so that was kind of weird. One thing it did do though, perhaps better than any other movie I've ever seen, was cinematography. Pretty much every shot had beauty in it. So many great shots. If there ever was a movie to see in HD, this is it. Great music accompanies the montages too. The thing about this film though is that there's very, very little story. It's basically a collection of memories that fit together in showing the young life of a man, his family, and a little bit of other stuff. Unlike in Memento, absolutely nothing is spelled out for you. If you're the ponderous type that likes interpreting a lot in movies, go for it. If not, you will hate this movie. Oh yeah, and another great performance by Brad Pitt. And apparently Sean Penn was in enough of it to put on the movie poster with two other people? He didn't get much screen time, maybe a little over ten minutes. But hey, he's a big name, so why not? But yeah, I liked the movie more once I saw what it was going for. Maybe if I saw it again, I'd like it a lot more from the beginning. 8/10. I should be seeing The Dark Knight Rises this week. Not planning on seeing any other movie before I go back to school, and I can't think of any that are coming out this year that I want to see besides Skyfall and The Great Gatsby. So other than those, it'll probably just be movies already released on DVD for the rest of the year. |

X-Men: The Last Stand -- I won't say much. Everyone I know who's seen it agrees that it was the worst X-Men movie. Obviously it's no Batman/Nolan film, but it wasn't so bad that I had to force myself to finish it. |

:o The Hobbit is one of those I couldn't think of. Will be seeing that. Haven't heard of the other ones. Lessee: Django Unchained is a western. That's a no-go. Dredd sounds like it could be okay, but unless everyone says it's something I have to see (like The Avengers), I'm not sure I'll be seeing it. Wreck-it Ralph looks very lolwut, so I'll wait on that one before deciding too. |

But how does this not look awesome? Also, Ralph is more of a kids' movie, but it still looks cool. |
