The cinematography style in the Django Unchained trailer is kind of throwing me. It's doing the Baz Lurhmann thing with hip-hop-izing a story set in the past and I don't know if I like it. |

I hope you're getting in cheap because no movie is worth paying full price twice, let alone six times. |

Only movie I've ever seen in theaters twice is The Dark Knight. And really the only reason we saw it twice is because my mom didn't see it, and because of this my brother, dad, and I were like "Why not watch it again?", since it was so amazing the first time. |

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan -- It was okay. The show left some things unanswered, but I liked that. I felt like the whole show had a kind of mysterious feeling and thought it would kinda kill that whole idea if you just explained it all in two hours (this movie is roughly 1 hr 50 min). However, it did not explain everything. It explained some minor things, but only maybe two or three major ones. I liked it, but I didn't see it as an extension of the BSG story. Another viewpoint, yeah, it did that fine. It just didn't feel like BSG, but I didn't expect it to because of the new point of view. I had that for 26 days before watching it because August was supposed to be my "focus on homework" month, not Monday through Wednesday of last week. Next up on the Netflix DVD queue for me is the first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. After that I'll get to some of those "wait what do you MEAN you haven't seen it" movies, including The Silence of the Lambs and The Shawshank Redemption. |

Wait, what do you MEAN you haven't seen Shawshank??!?!!!?!111 Anywho, I have a film history class this year, and I'll be posting some of the stuff we watch. I'll only talk about the ones that are new to me though. SO: Oh, Brother Where Art Thou? The Kid - A Charlie Chaplin film. It was good, it had a nice story. It's a little hard to get pumped about a silent film, but there were some very memorable scenes. It's about Charlie Chaplin finding a baby that had been dropped off by his mom in an alley, and he eventually decides to raise it. 5 years later they are close, someone finds out the kid is an orphan, and try to take him. The scene were the orphanage takes the kid and puts him in a truck, and you see the kid just screaming (silently) for his "daddy" is just heart-wrenching. I gave it a 3.5/5 The Artist - aka that French film that won everything at the Oscars. It wasn't THAT astounding (though really, what ever is), but it was coo'. The acting was good, since it IS hard to really act in a silent film, but they pulled it off. The music was cool, and the story was really good, like a tribute to the film industry of the 30s. The ending was lacking, but still, overall the film was good. 4/5 Inception The Dark Knight Casablanca - the film everyone's heard of but probably hasn't watched if they're not over the hill / a cinephile. Honestly, I wouldn't put it in my top 3 movies of all time (looking at you AFI), or really even my top 15. It had a good love story, was very quotable, but overall, it was a romantic movie. Like the very first Notebook. A bit of the acting was stiff (especially Laszlo) and the accents were almost too thick to understand. 3.5/5 Forrest Gump - this was actually my first time seeing it all the way through. My parents would always change the channel right before he sees Jenny in college, and then wouldn't turn it back on. Now, I have SEEN most of it, just not together. I would put this in my top 10. Tom Hanks is wonderful in this, and the story not only is a really touching one, but also a nice history lesson. Pretty much every scene with Jenny as an adult is just depressing though... But oh well: 4.5/5 |

Speak o' the devil, Snowman, I just found The Shawshank Redemption on Vimeo. I'm like 99% sure it's illegal, but oh well. Now I'm off to go watch it so people will stop telling me to watch it. I found Fight Club too, but I feel like: 1. I already know everything that happens. 2. I have unrealistically high expectations. I never watch movies on those scummy illegal movie streaming websites, but sites like Vimeo and YouTube are a different category for me. They aren't illicit sites, they just have some content that hasn't gotten flagged down yet. |

Watched The Avengers with some friends. I had only seen it once before, another friend saw it three times in theaters, another saw it twice, and the last never saw it before then. We also watched all the extras before we watched the movie, and... they really should've kept that Captain America stuff in. The alternative opening/closing with Maria Hill... the opening was eh, but I liked the closing. As for the deleted Banner scene, I didn't really feel strongly either way about it. We also watched that Item 47 thing and I liked it. The story made sense, and I could see how they'd be using that as a lead-in for the S.H.I.EL.D. show. |

Agree whole heatedly with this on the special features. Watching Captain America just walk through the city was something that should have been included, really captured how he felt about it all. |
