Can't blame you for that...hell, look at those damn titles. >.> I still found the 4th to be better though. My least favourite (excluding the newest) was always the second movie. |

I just watched The Cabin in the Woods. Overall, I liked it. Spoilers ahead.
For me, the movie began interesting, then got less interesting but more exciting, and then interesting and exciting, and then bleh. The interesting part for me was when they were exploring the cabin. I knew about the mirror part from a trailer a while ago, so I thought there'd be a lot of weird things to look for. I guess they were just in the basement, though. Still, I was interested because I was looking for things that hinted about how this organization was controlling everything. The less interesting part for me was when the zombies came out. It was more exciting because stuff was happening, but I mean, they were still just zombies with pointy things. Not much to see there. There was a brief interesting part for me in this section, though. They mentioned that the cave-in wasn't working because of a "glitch from upstairs" and I didn't realize what upstairs was at the time, so I figured there were just more workers and one of them decided they didn't like this ritual or something. Anyway, the really interesting part (for me) was when Marty found the elevator and I realized that they were "upstairs". I liked pretty much all of it from there through the end, but I didn't like the ending that much. I guess I just thought that the "humanity is stupid let's give these gods a chance" felt like it happened too fast.
|

I guess this thread is the most appropriate one to post this in, so... Do any of you know where I could find a download of Nosferatu in German for school? Yes, I know it's a silent film, but I think my teacher probably wants the segments with text to be in German. I've only been able to find it in English. Anyways, just let me know if you know where I could find this. Thanks. |

Nosferatu is public domain, so it's probably readily available to download. Finding a version subtitled in German is the hard part. I don't often try to find foreign films with their native language title cards, so I don't really have any suggestions on where to start, but it shouldn't be that difficult. |

I had to watch a foreign film and do a review on it for one of my classes, so I chose something that had been on my list for a long time: City of God. And srsly guise, it was amazing. I mean, it was disturbing and all with everything they do (lots of kids wind up shot/dead), but it was one of those things I just couldn't stop watching. It's pretty fast-paced (I read a review that called it a slow-burner which was all lolwut) and fun, but still has dat artfulness people look for in foreign films. Do yourself a favor and watch it because this is seriously one of the best movies I've ever seen. |

A friend of mine had to watch that one for our project. He didn't like it, but he doesn't like quite a few things that I like, so I'll still probably watch it sometime. |

Oh no, he's not sensitive to violence at all. All he does is play FPS's and LoL. But yeah I haven't seen it so idk what he wouldn't have liked about it. |

Hmm forgot about this (for a month and a half, apparently). Anyway, Prometheus -- Won't be watching this again. It was made well, but I just thought it was so disgusting. Not too many other people seemed to think that, but eh. Plot was eh. I never expect much of a plot from horror movies, but since this was supposed to be "the search for our beginning" or something I expected more from it. Mad Max -- It was fun watching it with friends. I can definitely see how this inspired Borderlands -- there are many screaming crazy people. It was enjoyable to watch, but nothing really stood out about it. I heard the sequel is better, so I'll try it sometime. Slumdog Millionaire -- I thought this was pretty good. That's about it, I guess. 2001: A Space Odyssey -- Yeah, it was the first time I've seen it. Oh well. Anyway, I didn't know anything about it other than HAL = bad, so I expected the whole thing to be about Dave and HAL. It's probably good that it wasn't, because the rest of it was pretty interesting too. Zombieland -- I liked it. I thought the characters were all great. Unfortunately, apparently they were all recast for the TV series which recently got a pilot on Amazon, and I heard no one likes them. Oh well. I don't really need to watch any more shows right now anyway. Rear Window -- I've liked every Hitchcock movie I've watched so far, and this wasn't any different. It was nice to see the women in this one have more important roles, though. Guess they had to 'cause the main guy was confined to a wheelchair. Dial M for Murder -- Still liking every Hitchcock movie I've seen. I thought this one was interesting because to me it felt like a backwards murder mystery. You already know how the murder happened, and you're watching other people try to figure it out. So that was interesting. The next five discs on my DVD queue are The Wire season 1, so I probably won't be in this thread for another month again. Actually, as I typed that I realized that I will, since Iron Man, Gatsby, and Star Trek come out next month. Yay. |

Just got back from the Iron Man 3 "evening" release. It was great, but I read story arcs in the comics that were supposed to be in this movie and it hardly follows them. Sure, that's good so it's not predictable. But...
They completely ruined the Mandarin. He's supposed to be Iron Man's greatest enemy, but in this movie he's just a face taking the blame for stuff. He doesn't DO anything. A couple other key characters (Aldrich Killian and Maya Hansen) also have roles similar to, but also waaaaay different from their original roles. Kinda annoyed me. Mainly the Mandarin part, 'cause I was wondering how they were gonna incorporate a bunch of magic rings into the not-magic world of the Iron Man movies. So they just didn't! Urgh. Also, the after-credits scene: I wasn't crazy about it. It was Stark thinking Banner was a therapist and talking about his past (the movie). I was expecting/hoping for something to connect it to the other phase 2 movies. Oh well.
But yeah it was good. Easily the best Iron Man, but that's really not saying much. IM1 was pretty good, and IM2 just wasn't. So... I'd recommend this to anyone who's gotten into these superhero movies lately. Unless you're a hardcore gritty dark gloom and doom Nolan Batman type person. But if you are, you'd probably know this isn't really for you by now. |

I saw The Great Gatsby. I didn't like a lot of it, but it had some good scenes. You should still see it if you were thinking about it, I don't want to stop you, 'cause some people I know liked it more than I did. And I know the book is short, but no, I haven't read it. |
