No. Not watching Spaceballs makes you cultured.

Don't listen to him, Spaceballs is glorious.

Just got back from seeing The Maze Runner, and I really enjoyed it. I am usually very critical of films any more that aren't Marvel movies because TvTropes ruined my life, but I found it really enjoyable.

I thought the Maze Runner was ok. It was your typical tween-teen movie you see nowadays, kinda cashing in on the success by following the format of things like Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, etc.

I went into it totally blind, I have no clue what movies are out anymore, and I usually only care about the Marvel stuff, anyway.

My school's theater is having an Alfred Hitchcock weekend, showing The Birds, Rear Window, North by Northwest, and Vertigo. Very excited. Saw the Birds tonight, and I really liked it.

The only downside is that there is always that one group of friends who feel the need to laugh at all attempts of FX older than 10 years.

CAN I COME?

I'll probably go to part of a Polish film festival here this weekend because that's what's going on here and I have a friend who's taking Polish.

Rear Window was the first movie we saw on the FILM1010 class I took earlier this semestter. It was a pretty good movie.
Spoiler: click to toggle

The class gave me a better appreciation for older films, something I very rarely watch.

It's been a while since I posted anything here so here are all the movies I've seen since then and some short reviews to go with them:

World War Z: Decent.

The Way Way Back: All right.

A Most Wanted Man: Pretty good.

Skeleton Twins: Liked it.

Calvary: Awesome.

Pride: Fabulous.

Force Majeure: Uncomfortable, but good.

Interstellar: Mostly fantastic, partly meh.

Dear White People: Good.

HONEY, I THINK I'VE KILLED YOU (Kochanie, chyba cie zabilem) -- A friend is taking Polish, so we saw this at the Ann Arbor Polish Film Festival =o. It was pretty good. It reminded me of Fargo, but I haven't seen any other Coen brothers movies so I don't know if it would remind me of them. Also, there was this one scene where this guy only spoke German (without subtitles!) so that was nice because I felt useful for my friend who was taking Polish. Even though the only think he said was that he doesn't speak Polish.

Xanadu -- XAAAAAAANADUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. XAAAANADUUUuuuuuuUUUUUUU. I hope you liked my singing. Umm, this movie was kind of weird and extremely 80s and reminded me of the music video for "Take On Me". Anyway, it was fun watching it with people I guess because the guy who wanted us to watch it (Polish guy from above ^) really likes it so he kept it exciting. Also, we made our movie night a Xanadu-themed movie night and watched Citizen Kane after it.

Saw Whiplash today. The two main characters both had amazing performances and it was nice to see this movie done right. I really enjoyed it.
