Finally watched Inception. IT WAS AWESOME. I think a sequel would be nice, but I think it would kinda suck unless it was a completely new idea. It's fine if it's still taking place in dreams, but it shouldn't be extraction/inception. Then it's just more of the same (Lolla Doody).

I wouldn't mind a sequel either but I think they would have to go with another cast too. I liked the ending how it was and wouldn't want to see a development revealing the truth of what happened.

The last movie I saw is called Devil. It's about people being stuck in an elevator and terrible things happening and, yea.
Again, it was much better than what I was expecting it to be. Still not something I would recommend or watch a second time.

Next on the Netflix list is a movie I've selected, The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Watched The Social Network the other day. It was ok. I'd give it a 5/10.

Well aside from re-watching Clerks and Clerks 2 again (including the commentary). The last movie I watched that I had NOT seen before was This Is Spinal Tap. Really great movie. :D

Analyze This and Analyze That, which star Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro. Quite funny movies.

Transformers. I really like that movie, but hate that Bumblebee had his legs blown off at the beginning of the last fight scene. And that Optimus Prime gets his butt kicked by Megatron. Oh well, still an awesome movie.

The Next Three Days. I loved it. Easily my #2 movie of 2010 (Inception is still #1). It starts with John Brennan's (Russel Crowe) wife being falsely accused of murder and arrested. John then spends the next three years of his life planning out the perfect way to break her out of jail. He's a community college teacher who has never committed a crime before. Awesome movie.

Here's every movie I've watched this summer that I haven't already mentioned.

Dial M For Murder-Granted, it takes some patience and concentration as the whole movie almost literally takes place in the same room, but it's a brilliantly thought-out movie.

Night of the Living Dead-Regardless of if the end was meant to be politically motivated like I think it might've been, it didn't really make sense in a horror movie. The movie was fine, but there was a lack of likeable characters. Watch on YouTube!

2001: A Space Odyssey-Two hour allegory=Meh

They Live-Entertaining enough, but fairly far from good.

Reservoir Dogs-Quentin Tarantino is cool. It was intelligently written and yay ambiguous endings. I liked it.

The Silence of the Lambs-Great, however it annoyed that Hannibal just faded out of the plot for so long. I realize he wasn't the main character, but cliffhanging in the middle of a movie is abnormal.

The Invisible Man-Not the best thing ever, but not the worst. It just, especially with modern times, seems like they conveniently did everything wrong to try to catch him.

Gosford Park-Fairly hard to follow, since all the girls looked the same, and also hard to follow because every character has a backstory that seems largely unnecessary in the grand scheme. Also, the murder, which is the whole plot, doesn't happen until over halfway through the movie. What's up with that?

The Machinist-Here's a trippy movie. Definitely one of the better I've seen so far, and it all really does make sense at the end, which seems impossible throughout.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest-A YOUNG JACK NICHOLSON? I've heard this regarded as one of the best movies of all time, and although I liked it, don't think it's one of the best. It seems to go on long tangents and not clearly define what the intent behind certain scenes is. The last 20 or so minutes are terrific though.

Insomnia-I don't know why I didn't buy into this. The plot is there, and it's witty, but it failed to make me that interested. Robin Williams is a fun bad guy though.

Harold and Maude-I ♥ dark comedies. Harold is a loveable character, at least for me, but Maude was just eccentric. The film gravitates away from their lives though, and focuses on their relationship, which is fairly dull. The first and last thirds are great though.

Let the Right One In-It's vaguely like Twilight what with the whole vampire love story, but minus the sissiness, plus graphic dismemberment and serial killing. AKA fucking awesome, I really think it's my favorite movie of all time. Also, it's Swedish.

Suspiria-What a strange movie. If you wanna watch this movie, don't read the description of it anywhere, just read this. It's a horror movie about a girl who goes to a ballet school. Literally, if you read anything about the film, it'll give away what you don't learn until like the last 1/5 of the movie.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo-Oh snap, dat rape scene. I feel like Lisbeth having the central role instead of Micke would've made it more interesting. Still, it's an interesting movie and the characters are very likeable.

M-Peter Lorre+Terrific End. Probably one of my favorite movies, and usually considered one of the best. Watch on YouTube! Forewarning, it's in German so subtitles will be necessary, assuming you don't speak German.

8 1/2-It's literally a movie about not being able to think of a movie to make. I honestly still don't know if I liked it or not.

Arsenic and Old Lace-Pretty damn good movie, but so insanely strange. Also, more Peter Lorre=fuck yeah.

The Girl Who Played With Fire-Sequel to TGWTDT. This one was kinda boring. It wasn't bad, but it was the worst of the trilogy. Also, dat lesbian sex scene.

The Killing-Honestly, I only watched this because it was a Kubrick movie, and I wasn't impressed. It's 90 minutes, and only the last twenty actually have anything to do with the heist that they'd been planning for 70 minutes. But that's not really true, because the last about ten minutes take place AFTER the heist.

The Omen-Meh. At least it was the old one.

Mary and Max-The most insanely depressing animated movie ever. I wish it would stop with all the butt and poop not-even-jokes, but references, especially since it's obviously NOT a kid's movie, but other than that it was a work of art.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest-Not as good as the first, better than the second. The thing that bugged me about this one was that it was basically a continuation of the second rather than being its own movie. The first one had nothing to do with the second other than the characters and their history, but this is a direct tie-in. No super dirty scenes other than flashbacks to the rape in the first one; it's blasphemy.

Blade Runner-It explained the plot, then executed it, without ever referring back to the plot during the course of actions. That made it seem especially weak when events that weren't part of the main plot happened spasmodically in the middle and threw the momentum. It seemed like, "Oh, we've spent too much time forming a romance, now flash to side-characters and when you come back to me I'll be focusing solely on the other plot."

I agree. The black guy was the only guy I liked.

Just got back from seeing Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. It was AMAZING. The action was epic, the story was better, and the graphics were out of this world. I might just see it again... :D

You should read the books. The third book was literally a direct continutation of the second book, so that's why the movies were like that. The books were a lot better, they have much more detail. There were some huge chunks that they left out of the third movie, especially. I understand that they can't include everything for the sake of making the movie a reasonable length, but the parts they left out were pretty good.

Cars 2 - Best movie I've seen this summer. I like how it focused on Mater instead of McQueen. The spy theme, though I didn't like it at first, turned out to be a great plot for the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - Okay. You can definitely tell that the budget for this one was less than the first 3. Almost none of the original characters return. Fight scenes were good.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Okay. I like Nicholas Cage, but this movie, like most of his recent ones, wasn't that great.

Green Lantern - Biggest disappointment this summer. I'm a Green Lantern fan (evident by my Green Lantern wallet), but even I couldn't see the good in this movie. Fight scenes sucked. Villain(s) sucked. Even the hero sucked.

I really liked this movie, too. I didn't understand why Liam Neeson was advertised as starring in the film or anything, though. He was in the movie for like 10 minutes.

But the books don't have Noomi Rapace. And...they're books.

THREE MORE

Ip Man-A Chinese martial arts movie...WITH A PLOT? Granted, it seemed very stretched to still incorporate martial arts as its main focus, but the fact that it had a plot, and a rather political one (regarding the Japanese occupation of China) was interesting. The worst part about this movie was some of the dialogue just seemed worded awfully, but I'm going to blame that on Cantonese to English translations not being exactly the same. Fight scenes are cool and not completely unbelievable, mostly since they couldn't because it's based on a real person.

Cinema Paradiso-I kinda feel like this movie had too many themes to form a coherent purpose. Also, since there was no real central conflict, there wasn't a specific conflict resolution. It still had an interesting insight into a strange take on life though. Good and unorthodox point of view, but fairly void of meaning.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari-It has cinema's first twist ending, so yay for that! I didn't hate the strangeness of the world, which is weird because I usually hate things that are almost real, but slightly off and never really explained. In this case, it was just for atmosphere and never had to do with the plot though. A far better silent horror film than Nosferatu.
