Well, in the Thread of Joy I posted this lovely article:

http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/118/1189785p1.html

And then I realised it was posted on IGN five days ago. Chances are some of you already heard this news, right? So, I propose this thread for posting anything important about gaming news for all to see!

EDIT: Also, I found out last night and can't remember the link, but there's a heavy rumour that FE13 is going to be released on 3DS, and it takes place 100 years after FE6, Roy's game. So a sequel to a sequel of a prequel, and the only direct sequel is seven games apart. Anyway, in addition to that on September 13th Nintendo are having a conference in which they plan to announce a completely new 3DS game we've heard nothing about. It's possible this game is FE13, which fits the recent rumours.

I've heard the FE13 rumours too, not excited by it, since I've never tried an FE game before.

Crysis is coming to console as a downloadable title for $20.

If you need online multiplayer, you may as well not get this. It's going to be released with no online play.

Sure, it'll look worse than the PC version, but it has more than three colors and it's a fucking bargain at $20. Not to mention that next month is a slow gaming month for me. I'll get it.

Netflix now renting video games.

IMO this is one of the biggest deals in gaming this year, right behind the announcement of Wii U.

I was considering subscribing to Gamefly next month, but if Qwikster is cheaper and also features the "buy now" option, that would definitely be my service of choice.

I already know Netflix (or Qwikster, whatever) has a superior distribution model because they have shipping centers everywhere (even in fucking NORTH DAKOTA!), so I'm not worried about that unless only major shipping centers have the niche games I would likely want.

Sounds pretty awesome, but the lack of European support saddens me. Have they said how many games you get for how much a month?

Did the guy who named Netflix die a horrible death or something? 'Qwikster' is ugh.

Will renting a video game take the place of a movie? That'd be annoying, seems how movies take a day to watch and video games take upwards of a week.

I wonder if this would lead to something similar to instant streaming, but with video games. Probably not likely, but would be awesome.

Somehow missed the Tokyo stuff despite having it bookmarked. In my very quick searches so far, I've found these two:

Miku game

FE13

So DC Universe online will be switching over from a forced monthly subscription to allow users free access to play online. They will still have premium content available through a monthly subscription. I might actually buy it now.

This made me so happy the other day. I wanted to play it, but I refuse to pay monthly fees for a game

If you want to opt out of those stupid "lol u no can sue us" clauses, this is the easiest way yet to do it.

What I do not know is if they will cut off your access to these services. Personally I don't give a flying fuck. Worst comes to worst, I'll make/use another account to access the store. I care far more about getting the old games I want than online play.

EDIT: Apparently it might not even matter. Then again, the attitude in this piece is the same attitude that keeps young voters at home on Election Day. It's a very flawed mindset, that of "we can't do shit about it, so just accept it".

All of a sudden I want to be on Wall Street.

In addition, you’ll be able to get the 2011 season versions of the 11 NASCAR race cars for the first time

To be honest, I can't really think of major paint-scheme changes for those 11 cars, except for Gordon is now in the Drive To End Hunger car instead of the one in the game. I will probably still get the newer ones. I would like to see other drivers in the game. Suprised Harvick wasn't in it.

Some of the other improvements introduced are greatly reduced load times when loading races, quicker menu response times, and adjustable opponent AI in Arcade Mode. Players will now have the option to save their progress during lengthy racing events so they can come back and finish at a later time, and can also adjust weather conditions for races using a slider function that goes from mild to severe.

This paragraph is the one I am most excited about, ecpesially the part I made red. We needed this one for a while. I was getting bored quick on the 9 hour race and shut it off just under one hour into it. Never would have even thought about doing the 24 hour races.
