Brand new big hardcopy releases have been $59.99 (or your regional equivalent) for as long as I can remember, so I'm not exactly shocked by this. Hopefully Sony aren't retarded and will offer a cheaper alternative with their online marketplace. |

That's exactly how much they cost now. There was a lot of speculation that they'd cost more, so it's great to know that that's not the case. I tend to not buy games new anyways, but I'm willing to spend that much if I'm really excited for the game. |

IMO, too little too late for a successful launch, the damage has been done. |

So, due to my working pretty much every day I missed all of E3. I knew that PS4 curb stomped Xbox One but now that the dumb restrictions have been changed I don't know which console I should get when they launch, unfortunately I am unwise to the benefits each console offers. Would anyone care to help me with this? EDIT: I read about the consoles on the respective websites, but like I said I missed E3 so the games and stuff I don't know which one is better, so help please :/ |

Fucking power outages. Had a good post going, and then LOLPWNT. Anyway... If you value sheer power, the PS4 is probably the way to go. Rumor has it that the PS4 will be 50% more powerful than the Xbox One. If this information is correct, the table in this article would be the simplest explanation as to why. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6972/xbox-on...playstation-4/2 The Xbox One probably has the better media package, if that matters to you. I think it's asinine to pay $60 to access services you already pay money for, but Xbox has more services: HBO Go, ESPN3, amongst others that Playstation doesn't have. PS+ is now required for online play, but as far as we know you don't need PS+ to access services like Netflix. I guess it depends on the services you'll want to use, if any. PS4's sharing features sound interesting. I'm not sure if you'll value being able to watch friends play games, take over for them if they're having trouble, posting more game information on social media, and all that stuff, but at the least it's interesting. Kinect is obviously better than Move, but so far no "core" game has utilized the technology in a way that improves/innovates gameplay. I guess Microsoft is hoping that bundling Kinect with the system inspires developers to make better use of it. I don't know if that'll be the case, but who knows. Games are a subjective matter, so I'll leave you a list. http://www.neowin.net/news/list-of-xbox-on...exclusive-games The Xbox One presentation had a lot of shooters, the occasional Kinect game, and a couple zombie games. The usual Halo/Forza suspects were there, too. It also had MGSV, but I think we can guess that's coming to PS4 too. I think Playstation did a better job with showing a variety of games, but there are still some we know nothing about (sup @ The Order: 1886). In any case, I'd look into these games somewhat and make a decision based on what will be coming to those consoles. Personally? I'm going with a PS4 two or three years down the road, once it builds up a respectable library of JRPGs. The only game that could make me buy one sooner is Persona 5, but Atlus generally doesn't embrace new home consoles very quickly. |

Thank you! I checked out the list of games and I think the PS4 has better exclusives (Infamous was an eyecatcher). I don't have social media (except Twitter). I just don't know if the Xbox One is like a gimmick or a real universal tool. I don't really wanna voice control all the menus did Microsoft ever announce that you don't NEED to use Kinect to control everything? |

You're welcome. I would assume that you don't need it. There are just too many languages, accents, etc, to go fully voice-controlled barring a massive improvement in that technology. Also, there are times you might not want to use voice-control features: babies sleeping, you're sick, etc. I feel the whole Xbox brand is an attempt to control our living rooms. Gaming seems like it's secondary to Microsoft at this point. I agree with this quote:

You don't NEED to USE the kinect to do anything, although you NEED to have it on and connected to use the console, which is completely asinine. And if it matters, PS+ is cheaper ($4.99 a month, I believe Xbox Live is $5.99 or more) and also offers ~18 free games (you can only choose one of them if I'm not mistaken) per month. The Xbox Live service is required for everything online related (right?) and it "only" gives you one out of two free games a month. And I've heard that the PS4 has about 20-30% more power than the Xbox One, but y'know rumours lol. Finally the Xbox One uses 3 out of its 8 gigs of ram for its OS, while the PS4 uses nothing/significantly less of its 8 gigs of ram for its OS, making it a bit faster. All in all it seems the PS4 provides a better (and two games worth cheaper!) package. |

Don't forget that many of the games Microsoft showed were being run on PCs, NOT the Xbox One. Sony's was all on the PS4. Take that for what you will. |

I really appreciate all the feedback. I think most of y'all are leaning towards PS4 even though the policy changes which is probably a sign that PS4 is going to meet the needs of the gamer more, huh. |
