There's no reason to not get the game unless you already had it. It's a fantastic title.

If you haven’t already decided on buying a PS4 here are some interesting features:
  • 1. Each PS4 will have a 500GB hard drive, and can be upgraded.
    2. You can log on to other PS4s and all your digital copies of games are playable on that other PS4. The contents already on the other PS4 can also be accessed when you are signed in.
    3. Each PS4 comes with it’s own HDMI cable AND headset.
    4. PS4 is NOT region locked.
    5. PS4 has Suspend Mode. Which allows you to leave your PS4 and come back and start playing where you left off.
    6. PS4 uses Gaikai streaming that will stream new games and PS3 games to your PS4 which can be in suspend mode.
    7. You are able to play games as your PS4 downloads games and content.
    8. You can now stream movies using Video Unlimited.
    9. You can purchase games and other content using smart phones and tablets, that will automatically start downloading to your PS4.
    10. There is already +140 games currently in development for PS4.

This is probably the longest post of information we already knew on this forum (though to be fair, the picture makes it appear longer than it actually is).

I guess we know who's getting the PS4, lol.

However, it's great that it comes with a headset in the box.

I think this is more hilarious than true, didn't know where else to post it. Honestly seems possible.

Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president, also commented on the story saying, “I haven’t heard of these unscheduled visits from Sony, but I will allow them to publish Steel Diver for those ports.”

This makes the article. (For those that don't know, Steel Diver is awful)

For those of you who don't know, p4r is The Onion of video games.

Anyway...

http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2013/07/29...use-video-games

This feels like a resounding "DUH" to me. This is purely anecdotal and all, but I've definitely noticed the autistic gamers I've encountered spend a lot of time playing games and are into RPGs of all sorts.

I wonder why. Is it because kids on the spectrum are inherently drawn to video games somehow, are they pushed towards video games because nobody accepts them/they just don't like socializing, or some combination thereof?

The game selection is also interesting. Again I'd have to wonder what draws these kids to these types of games. Is it the gameplay/whatever else, is it the knowledge that your peers aren't playing these games, is it a combination of these, or am I entirely off?

But yeah, I think answering these questions might make for some interesting case studies.

I did not know, but it's hilarious nonetheless. D:

My brother has autism and he plays pretty much exclusively RPGs... that's strange

So there was a Nintendo Direct today, but not much was announced it seems. Looks like the only things of interest (to me, anyways) are Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney confirmed for release in both NA and Europe in 2014, and Luigi confirmed for SSB4.

We really need a SSB4 thread, but I'm too lazy to make it.

Yup, it's EA this week. Contrary to what's implied by "Origin bundle", there are Steam keys for most of the games, which is a smart move. Also, there is no option to give EA money.

Sure, it's obviously a PR move/a way to get more gamers to install Origin, but it seems to work out for all involved. We get cheaper games and we don't have to support EA to get them, EA gets some positive press/more people to use Origin, and some great charities are being supported.

I'm on the fence. I'll wait and see what games are unlocked next week. I hope for Crysis 1 or Mass Effect 3, myself. As it is there isn't a game here that I need since I got Mirror's Edge during the Summer sale.

It's a sweet deal, though. I just had to get it.
Sims 3 is fun, I haven't played Mirror's Edge yet (didn't buy it during the summer sale either), and Dead Space looks kind of cool, although I am fairly positive I am too much of a bitch to actually play it.

I've got some leftover codes for those who want them (check the recent purchases thread).

http://www.gamespot.com//news/ea-introduce...l-games-6413205?

Wow, this is awesome.

The only flaw I can see is the 24 hour limit. Some gamers will beat the game in under 24 hours and return it, but that already happens with physical media. No way around it, really.

Now Steam needs to do this for US residents. >.>

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013...hales-are-males

article

EEDAR also looked at the breakdown of how each group spent that game time. Interestingly, whales tended to be more active on the two platform categories least associated with free-to-play titles: consoles and handhelds. Whales reported spending 24 percent of their gaming time on consoles, more than any other category, while non-paying mobile gamers spent just 15 percent of their time on consoles. As for handhelds, whales used dedicated gaming portables 10 percent of the time, compared to just 3 percent for non-payers.

Here we all thought that the people who used microtransactions were the casuals who needed that instant gratification, not "hardcore" gamers.

Maybe the divide between mobile and "core" gamers seems bigger than it is for the usual reason. You know, people complaining on the internet.
