Reminds me of when I heard that some porn websites were made to be specifically compatible with Wii's internet browser. |

Microsoft is joining the latest bullshit bandwagon. http://kotaku.com/5865797/now-microsoft-wa...g-them-to-court The Gamers Opt Out site (gamersoptout.com) is migrating at the moment, but I suspect it'll return with a section for Microsoft now, too. You're probably better off writing them yourself. The address is given in the article. |

http://oneofswords.com/2011/12/tony-hawks-...r-hd-announced/ The original TH games were great, and as I don't own those games anymore, I'll definitely be getting this. |

Watching the VGAs. Doesn't look like I'm as big of a gaming nerd as I thought I was. Recognizing very few of these games. Upset RB3 didn't win best DLC. |

Humble Indie Bundle 4. Because I know we all like cheap ass games. Normally I'd get this, but really, I've gotten myself enough stuff. Need to focus on Christmas now. |

Not really news, but the idea is different. People have tried arguing "game writing isn't anywhere near the quality of movies, TV, or novels". I'd be inclined to agree, but what they conveniently ignore is that they are judging games based on the criteria for "good storytelling" that other mediums have set. Games are interactive as opposed to passive, which necessitates telling a story in a different way. It also doesn't help that many gamers don't like the undisputed best way to advance the story in their games, the cutscene. I get it, you're taken away from the action, which is a major issue when your medium's best selling point is its interactivity. The medium is still young, still by and large in this mindset that "games are toys", and hasn't found its own voice for storytelling. Perhaps by trying something new and trying to tell smaller episodic stories as opposed to long epics, it finds a way to actually tell a compelling story that we can put up there with the great works in other mediums. The downside? The prices. You'll likely pay more over the span of an episodic game than you will for a bundle, but you're always paying more to get something upon its release. That's how these things *work*. So what's worth more? Getting the product right away or waiting for the inevitable disc/full download release? For me personally, this is fairly close to my opinion:
*nods head* I can't say it much better than that. There are exceptions, namely Treme and football, but where most shows are concerned, they better be transcendent or I'm waiting on the inevitable Netflix release. I don't think I could eagerly anticipate each episode of a game knowing full well that it'll get the disc/download treatment. |

Call me a caveman, but I still watch network tv. I mean, sure I have netflix, but that uses up precious bandwidth. My tv costs nothing a month, so I dont mind it at all. |

Ahhhh yes, I sometimes forget bandwidth limits exist. I don't have a cap that I know of, and if I do, it's ridiculously high. In that case, streaming/downloading huge files probably isn't a good idea. Anyway, actual news on that note: http://kotaku.com/5869462/gamefly-launches...-pc-games-today While this isn't a reason I'd get Gamefly (my computer isn't powerful enough for modern gaems), this sounds like a viable alternative/addition to using Steam. |
