Anita Sarkeesian has a collection of various Twitter responses to her work. I don't know anyone here who's needed a TW but it wouldn't hurt to preface this with one.

I thought this was fairly interesting/disgusting. A huge problem within e-sports is that the managers, CEOs and all the rest are generally young guys who have no experience at all in managing finance. There needs to be more contracts for this shit.

More to the point, there isn't a formal *structure*. The closest e-sports comes, at least to my knowledge, is that there might be an organizing body that arranges tournaments. There are also team sponsors. There aren't standards concerning wages, contracts, hours players can train/play, an organized union that can go to bat for the players, amongst other things that exist in professional sports.

Until there is structure, things like this will happen. While structure does cost money because nobody works for free, it's also the easiest way for e-sports to be taken seriously. A formal structure would be in everyone's best interest. That said, I'm not sure if even LoL is big enough to make such a structure sustainable.

Probably the most structured esports system there is are the Korean Starcraft 2 leagues, none of which I can think of at the moment. MLG and the various other things over here need to look at them, because, to the best of my knowledge, they take esports very seriously over there. Might as well be their national sport.

Smash releases in Japan that day so it'll probably focus on that. Looking forward to everything they have to show, I love Treehouse.

I'm disappointed that MEGA SHARPEDO isn't in a tornado. If any mega evolution needed to happen, it needed to be that.

On the bright side, MEGA MAGCARGO looks pretty cool.

So Mojang just got bought up by Microsoft. For 2.5 BILLION DOLLARS, holy shit.

Notch has also released a statement which gives some more insight into why they sold Mojang, and it makes perfect sense...and frankly 1.75 billion dollars (that's over 12 billion Swedish kroners...) doesn't hurt either, and it also gives Notch an incredible freedom to create and experiment for a thousand years.

I'm pretty interested in seeing what Notch will do in the future. He seems really hellbent on not making a lot of fuss with his projects, which sounds like it might hinder his creative process if he'll immediately stop as soon as something gains traction. I get not wanting to be a celebrity, but still.

Funny, I was just on my way to post that story. This is big news, though it looks like all versions of the game are going to continue development regardless, which is also kind of a big deal.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-09-17-final-fantasy-15-demo-coming-in-march-report

plz no

the internet hasn't had enough years to raise its hype level through the roof, only to be devastated that, shock horror, a video game isn't perfect

More srsly, I still hope for a PC version. Maybe that's possible, given this:

And yeah, we'd all "sell out" or whatever for 2.5 billion. Even if Notch got like 5 percent of that, he's set for life. Can't blame him for selling Mojang, given that kind of money and his desire to just experiment and make shit.

Notch actually gets about 70% of that.
