I'm completely clear on the distinction between remake and remaster. I'm disappointed that it is not a remake, rather just a remaster. I guess it's better than nothing but seriously, there is a comparison video out there, and it is a marginal at BEST improvement. I'll still get it though because it's my favorite Zelda ever and I'll take any improvement I can get.

Also, total sarcasm on the star fox comment. Lol it looks okay I guess, but I honestly don't know if I'll be buying it until I see reviews.

Well, Linkle exists now, so I'm satisfied. Also love her design even if she does look almost exactly like the Elf from Dragon's Crown.

BREAKING DOWN THE GAME AWARDS NOMINATIONS BECAUSE I CAN

Not sure if this is worth watching.

*checks date*

December 3rd. Might still be reading Clannad, which would be much better than getting drunk and watching this turn out to be a pile of dung for the second year in a row.

http://thegameawards.com/nominees/

Game of the year is highly predictable, but when is it not? Bloodborne, TW3, MGSV, and FO4 will be in consideration everywhere. Super Mario Maker is kind of a surprise. Idk I'd have expected Arkham Knight, AssCreed, or some other AAA title to round it out. Feels kind of like a token Nintendo nomination so people can't say "zomg biased against Ninty". Never mind it won't win.

Indie GOTY is pretty much "the indie games that got the most press". Can't say I have a problem with this; every game there looks pretty good.

Mobile and handheld being combined will never not be bullshit. They should be separate categories because by and large, they're different types of games. Downfall making the cut is kind of a surprise, but then again it's on mobile and it got some press.

Best narrative is Life is Strange and even that has its flaws. Maybe Her Story has a good one, but if so that's probably as much due to its non-traditional structure as its writing. Video game narratives tho.

Best performance is also from Life is Strange, what a coincidence! *cough* But yeah, Ashly Burch was hella good as Chloe.

Games For Change feels like a bullshit category. What are they supposed to be changing, anyway? The title is Tumblr-esque, and it seems like a way for TGA to be able to say "look at us! We support True Art, not just products!", and then get back to the corporate sponsorships and AAA awards after three minutes. Maybe I'm just a cynic. I'm sure Tale of Tales appreciates the support now that they're out of video games. As much as I like Life is Strange, I'm hard-pressed to say things published by major publishers like Squeenix are "changing" anything.

Arkham Knight should be ineligible for an award based on its PC port alone. It may very well be a great game on console, but when you put out a product at that level of "quality" on one of the major gaming platforms, you've failed. Doesn't help that its competitors have all put out, at the least, competent PC ports. Beyond that I can't say I have much to say on an action/adventure category; the games there aren't my shtick or aren't out on PC. (plz bring Tomb Raider to PC asap)

Surprised Undertale even got a nod, but I'd be hard-pressed to name five other competitors for best RPG, so might as well. It got three total nods, which is more than many of the AAA contenders.

Best family game is going to be Splatoon or Super Mario Maker, if only because of the demographics that actually watch and vote. Let's just say they're biased towards "traditional" video games. Disney Infinity and Skylanders are licenses to print money, but the people who like that stuff are neither voting nor watching.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rocket League take the best sports game category. Sure, sports games do change from year to year, but the perception amongst non-sports gamers is that you're paying $60 for roster updates. Even ignoring that, Rocket League is a breath of fresh air compared to this year's iteration of *insert sports game*.

Best multiplayer won't be Splatoon. Fun to play, but no modern conveniences almost certainly damns it.

BEST ART DIRECTION LITERALLY FEATURES TWO DREARY AS SHIT GAMES. Well, okay, I'll admit Arkham Knight looks bloody impressive; it's just that I don't care much for the artstyle. Bloodborne looks pretty decent too, but again, it's not my thing. IMO Ori and the Blind Forest should win, but money. If I were a betting man I'd put a tenner on The Witcher 3.

I'd vote, but the idea of having to share my votes is dumb. That and nobody on my Facebook gives a shit. Twitter list gives slightly more of a shit because there are no real life friends there, but only slightly.

What I'd vote for: DOTA 2 for best e-sports game, The Last Guardian for most anticipated game (because no Persona 5), Abstain x4. Ain't no way I'm voting for e-sports teams and YouTube personalities.

I find it quite annoying that ZeRo isn't nominated for best esports player. Guy went 53 tournaments undefeated. Apparently that's not impressive enough.

Idk where else to talk about the Steam sale, but yeah, I guess the Thanksgiving sale -- excuse me, "Exploration Sale" -- is here. I'm not sure how much longer I can refuse Darkie's wishes for me to buy The Wolf Among Us. Also, LAD described it as Jessica Jones starring a gruff guy who is also a werewolf, so that sounds fun. And I'm probably supposed to get Life Is Strange too (tbt to when I bought To the Moon on the summer 2013 sale and still haven't played it). I might get a Steam Controller, but it's not on sale. It won't add to my backlog though, so that's a plus. Maybe it'll even get me through my backlog quicker.

Long (I'd say 20 minutes-ish) but kinda cool. Not overly surprised at the order of many of these, but I am shocked Super Metroid is above OoT for me. That's probably not something I'd say IRL, as good as Super Metroid is, but apparently this data set says otherwise. Fire Emblem: Awakening would probably be a bit lower if there were representation from the superior Tellius games. Life is Strange at 11 is only slightly surprising because it's so new, but I can't say I disagree with it.

FFIX coming all the way in at 92 is a shock. Probably only so low because I took a lot of "I feel the same" about games I've never played. It's fallen in my estimation since playing other, better FFs, but not *that* much.

Only posting the top 30 because arbitrary cutoffs, size considerations, and because, well, that covers most of my actual favorites. Not shown but the next three: Twilight Princess, SMB3, SM64.

Pretty cool and actually pretty damn accurate for the top 15ish, ordering might not be perfect, but most of the games are more or less in my top 15.
Mass Effect 3 is above 2, Banjo-Kazooie would be replaced with Tooie, missing Donkey Kong 64, Dark Souls 2 and a couple of indie games. It's probably missing something for all of us, so that's fine. There were too many games on this list that I simply hadn't played/heard of, or had only played ~10 hours of, so I wasn't really sure how to rank them.
