I guess that's everyone, from what I hear.

If you have them all, Darkie, feel free to send them.

There were a lot of broken downloads, so here's what happened:

1. If you got one PM and it says, "Your mixtape is here," hotlinked, then there's your mixtape, get listening.

2. If you got two PM's, one the same as #1, and another saying that your link is broken, then get listening, but also reupload/try another site because someone is waiting for you.

3. If you only got a PM that says your link is broken, it means your mix and the one you were supposed to receive are both broken. Fix yours and wait the other.

4. If you didn't get any PM then it means that your link worked and was sent to whomever, but the one you're supposed to receive is broken, so I had nothing to give you. Wait until the new link is available.

There were five of six links that didn't work.

If there's some problem with the file once it's downloaded, PM me and I'll contact the maker. I didn't download every file and check it, I just checked the links.

Anything not relating to the files or PM's themselves should be directed at Ro. I'm not in charge; I just have the list of what goes to who.

Don't say sorry for having a broken link because then it whittles down the possible guesses for the people that had to wait, and that's less fun.

If you sent me a corrected link before now, it's good. I'll send you another PM if your second link also failed. Otherwise you're fine.

Thanks for the fast fixes.

I suppose as OP, I should be the first to post my review, if only as a sort of template. Like I said, they don't have to be as long as Pac's infamously long posts on mixes, or even really as long as mine. They just have to show that you've listened to the music you were sent. Even if you choose to express that in a sentence or two. That is all.

Anyway, let's get on with it.

I'm 99% sure that this is cosecant's mixtape. My first guess was Mac due to Jeff Beck/Lights, but he kind of derped and told me he owned no Lights. So, csc is really my second guess, but whatever.

Band of Skulls, "Patterns"
I liked their song in Warriors of Rock, so this mix is off to a good start as far as I'm concerned.

It's not like this band is reinventing the wheel here or anything. This is just solid, catchy indie rock with good vocals, which is enough to win me over most of the time.

Beastie Boys/Nas, "Too Many Rappers [New Reactionaries Version]"
I've never been a fan of this group. I don't find their beats all that catchy, their voices annoy me, and the lyrics suck compared to much of the underground rap scene. The beat in this song is actually pretty damn good and I'd like it as an instrumental, but the Beastie Boys had to shit on it with their horrible raps.

The highlight as far as I'm concerned is Nas' appearance. His verses save the song from being complete shit. Might have to finally listen to Illmatic, at the least, despite it being the FFVII or Neon Genesis Evangelion of rap - That is to say, EVERYONE breathlessly praises it (and that kind of thing puts me off).

Beck, "Chemtrails"
Can't say I knew what to expect with this song. I haven't listened to a whole lot of Beck, but I knew enough to know that he does various things. I certainly wasn't expecting this. I'm a sucker for good keys and strings, so this song caught my ear once I heard them kick in. They add a certain melancholic (Idk if this is the word I want, but I'll go with it) atmosphere to the song that might not otherwise be present. Beck's vocals are rather understated here, but I far prefer the music of this song to Beck's voice.

The ending is all kinds of what the fuck though. Still good; it just feels out of place compared to the rest of the song.

Jeff Beck, "Dirty Mind"
Idk, rock instrumentals generally don't do much for me. This feels like the same riff repeated for three or four minutes. The drumming was a lot more interesting than this one riff; it actually changed throughout the song. I can understand how someone would find this a catchy song because it has its moments, but in spite of that I can't say I cared for it all that much.

Lights, "Timing is Everything"
Fuck yeah, a group I recently discovered completely by accident on my own. Knew this song was going to be good before I heard it (again). Anyway, I love the female vocals in this song, and those were really the first thing that caught my ear about this group.

This isn't really all that electronic compared to their self-titled album, but you can hear the electronic influences that differentiate them from a lot of rock bands. Without that and the female vocals, this would just be another song from another rock group. It's a decent little song, but I feel half of their self-titled is superior to this. >.>

Nujabes, "Music is Mine"
Another instrumental. A jazz instrumental this time, and to me it's far more interesting than the last one. It's very reminiscient of a faster Slow, Love, Slow, off the new Nightwish album, and it wouldn't surprise me much if they were considered part of the same sub-genre. Not that I would know, I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me. >.>

Anyway, I liked this song. A lot. Perhaps I'm finding a niche in jazz that I can enjoy; I've never really known where to start with that genre outside of like Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, and shit like that.

Q-Tip, "Move Renaissance Rap"
I've heard ATCQ and found them to be *alright*, but on the whole they aren't the sort of rap I prefer. Then again that was a while ago, so idk. The point is, I'm already somewhat familiar with Q-Tip and was interested to hear how he would do on his own.

I liked the verses well enough. The lyrics are pretty interesting, the flow is solid, and the beat is pretty catchy. If the whole song were six minutes of Q-Tip rapping, I'd find it to be a damn good song. The only bad thing I can say is that this song's "chorus", if that's what it is, drags on too long. Repeating "move" or whatever he's really saying for a minute or two gets dull and repetitive fast.

Raphael Saadiq, "Stone Rollin'"
Ahhhhh, Soul. Doesn't do a whole lot for me, and this song didn't change my mind on the genre. I can admit that Raphael Saadiq is a talented singer, sure, but that doesn't mean I particularly enjoyed the song.

Still, I have to praise including it. Throwing curveballs into these things is always good; it's a change from the rock/metal I expect of most of these. >.>

Tegan and Sara, "Northshore"
Fuck yeah Tegan and Sara. While all of their work is good, I especially love Sainthood and The Con. Do I even really have to go into any sort of detail on a song I already know, love, and would wholeheartedly recommend? Well, I guess not everyone has listened to it, so I'll just say it's an extremely catchy, quick-paced two minute song in which the twins never shut up, but that is a *good* thing. Their voices are so gorgeous. :3

They're in my mix too. It shouldn't be much of a secret.

The Kills, "Future Starts Slow"
Been meaning to listen to these guys since I saw them perform on the Coachella stream, and even went so far as to download some of their work. I... haven't quite gotten there yet.

I get the feeling that the maker of this mix (as I guessed at the start of my post, cosecant) likes much of the same indie rock I do. I mean, there's already Band of Skulls and Tegan and Sara, and both of those songs were ones I enjoyed. This is another song with good vocals, which as I alluded to earlier is really one of the things I enjoy most about indie.

The Shins, "Pink Bullets"
It's been a while since I heard this song.

They say "absence makes the heart grow fonder". This song is proof that's not absolutely true. I mean, I don't *mind* The Shins, but like most music in that vein (slower, sparse music), I have to be in the right kind of mood to listen to it. I can't say it's a bad song, but I really wish it ended with a minute or two of harmonica; that was easily the best part of the song.

TV On the Radio, "Will Do"
"Wolf Like Me" didn't exactly create the most favorable of impressions. Given all the hype this group has received over the past couple of years, I expected... Well, I expected something less mediocre.

This song is way different. It's slower than the aforementioned song, for starters. I can't say I like the vocals at all; they grate on my nerves for some reason I can't put my finger on. Take the vocals out of here and you have a decent piece of music. I suppose the simplest explanation is that the song reminds me a lot of the Beck song that was included - A beautiful, slower song with vocals that aren't exactly the highlight of the piece.

Wu-Tang Clan, "Shame on a Nigga"
It's probably shameful that I haven't heard much Wu-Tang Clan. Other than C.R.E.A.M. and now this, I can't recall hearing anything from them, only one of the more influential rap groups in ever.

This song is pretty damn good and I need to remedy that ASAP. The only *bad* thing I can say is that I don't like the hook, but it's mercifully short and the song throws you back into the verses, which are pretty awesome, rather quickly. I guess I could say the lyrics are simple (I tend to like esoteric/complex lyrics in my rap - I count Aesop Rock/El-P/Eyedea/Immortal Technique among my favorite rappers), but the flow is so damn good I can overlook that detail. *shrugs*

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Phenomena"
It's funny. I used to dislike this group. But after hearing Maps and really the entirety of Fever to Tell, and now this song, I'm really starting to like them. What can I say, shit happens. As usual, it's Karen O's voice that carries the whole song. Sure, there's some cool drumming going on in the background too, but yeah, her voice is just fucking awesome. Should check out moar of their work.

So yeah. In the end I liked ten or even eleven of the fourteen songs to some extent, which I'm pretty sure is a personal best for these threads. (Yes, I'm counting threads I did on other sites.) If I had to pick three favorites? Northshore (obviously), Shame on a Nigga, and probably Phenomena, though I could easily write in Chemtrails or Music is Mine. Unfortunately "Nas' verses" isn't a song, otherwise I could include that too. >.>

I also liked the varied mix. Let's see... There's jazz, soul, rock, indie rock, and rap here. I'd say that five genres over fourteen songs is a fairly eclectic mix. It's more than the rock/metal that I would honestly expect of a lot of people, which is *always* a good thing.

”Gears of War” by Body Count
This was pretty much what I expected it to be. Lyrics concerning the Gears of War games (a song made for the game(s)?). It sounds like modern thrash metal/hard rock, with harsh vocals and it kind of sounds like some sort of rapping is going on, although I wouldn’t call it rapping, but whatever. Judging from what I see, it seems like a lot of the songs will be more or less similar to this.
I didn’t particularly care for this song.

“Just Another Victim” by Helmet & House of Pain
This song is actually pretty good. Rap rock, sounds pretty heavy and the beat isn’t too shabby either, the breakdown in the middle of the song goes from a heavier bit into a more rap like part, with some wakkawakka shit going on (no idea what you call it). Good song, definitely better than the “Gears of War”.

“The One” by Treyarch Sound (album Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies)
Another video game related song? Fair enough. This song is much better than the first song. Female vocals are a nice change from the harsh screaming/rapping from the past two songs, much more modern song the other ones. Liked this song quite a bit, the breakdown in this song was great. Love that chugging shit.

“Fire Woman” by The Cult
Aww yeah, some classic rock! Love those vocal! This is just a good song, not much more to say about that. I downloaded some Cult a while back, but I never got around to listening to it, should probably check them out on spotify or something.

“Fuck Tha Police” by NWA
This is some classic black man rap shit. This is actually pretty good. And the lyrics are kinda funny. With a song called “Fuck Tha Police”. Got some good racism going on in the lyrics too. I like this quite a bit to be honest.

“ We Wish You A Merry Christmas” by Shonen Knife
This song is cute. It’s simply so basic and obviously meant for young children, which is what makes it so sweet. The singing is nice and sweet and the drumming and everything are simple and nice, like you’d expect from a Christmas song.
“Uprising” by I Wrestled a Bear Once
Awesome cover. Actually a little better than the original. Her vocals are very nice, and fit the song nicely. The double bass thrown in is expected, but it gives it a nice boost. And then BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. DEATHCORE IN YOUR FACE. Sick breakdown/transition. I knew they were a deathcore band (well sorta), but I didn’t expect that transition at all. Very cool stuff.
This is also from a video game album btw.

“Cryogenica” Annotations of an Autopsy
DEATH METAL. Heavy, fast. This pretty much sounds like your average death metal band. Nothing unique here, but a good listen none-the-less. The main riff is very nice, the drumming is impressive and the solo is pretty melodic too. Nothing to complain about here, it’s a solid song all the way through, although I would like some more variation in the singing, some higher pitched growling here and there would have done a lot for the song.

“Wizards in Winter [Instrumental]” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
A nice keyboard heavy instrumental. It got a little repetitive at time, although the song was pretty short so it didn’t drag on or anything. Felt like an odd song to put in here, as it seems like some sort of intro track for another song. Either way, I enjoyed it.
“Sara” by Starship
I doesn’t really get more 80s than this. I do like me sum 80s, but this is just a bit too 80s. That said, the song is actually pretty catchy, and the small guitar solo in the middle was pretty good. All in all, a generic 80s ballad with a generic solo. Cool stuff.

“Welcome To Paradise” by Green Day
The only Green Day song I’ve heard Is probably ”American Idiot”, which is a pretty bad song, which is annoyingly catchy. This is actually one of the best punk songs I’ve heard. This is from their debut if I’m correct. I got to say that I’m pretty impressed, seeing as punk is a genre I generally despise.

“ The Closest Thing” by Sheva
Oh, nice, a calm, pop song with female vocals. I don’t mind this at all. Very nice and relaxing song, with a nice catchy chorus. I’ll probably start humming to this song at work today.

“Front Row Seats To The End Of The World” by Funeral for a Friend
Oh, yay…FfaF.. I said to myself that I’m going to be positive when going into all of this, so I won’t stop now. This genre is probably one of the genres I hate the most. The good things about this song is probably that main riff is nice and it chugs along nicely, and the screaming isn’t too bad. Now, when the melodic part kicks in, I shudder. I can’t stand that singing. I will say that the melodic parts are pretty catchy though.

“The Elbow Twist” by The Woggles
As this song started, I only had one thing to say: Wtf? This is probably the most odd song on this mixtape. I don’t really know what to say about this song. The guitar solos are awesome, the drumming is awesome and the keys are great too. Very weird intro, but the instrumental parts are terrific.

“Tung, the Icelandic Lesbian” by Kitsune^2
Odd title, awesome song. Short and sweet video game sounding music. The genre which was tagged was techno. Fair enough. Enjoyed that quite a bit.

“2,000 Leagues Under My Keyboard” by Dutch
This song is pretty different from the rest. I love the female vocals. This song is really relaxing. Not sure what genre I would say this is, but this is probably the best song on this thing.

“Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden
I liked that song from GH: WoR, was it Black Rain? Nice calm song. Nothing special, it was just a good song.

“The End of it All” by Sirenia
Symphonic power metal with female vocals! Aww hell yeah! Great heavy riff, great solo and epic vocals. Reminds me that I need to listen to more power metal, because Power Metal is amazing.

“Son of Scary” by George Lynch
A heavy metal instrumental. Wild solos, a kick ass riff and solid drumming. That’s pretty much this song in a nutshell. It starts off really good and interesting, fun to listen to even. But after a while, it just gets repetitive. It’s the same riff and drumming in the back (although they’re solid) and just some crazy guitar work (sounds a bit sloppy sometimes though) over. A good song, but the excitement quickly wears off. I can imagine this song being fun for guitar hero, sometimes.

“Forty Six and Two” by Tool
This song starts off really slow and calm, with a nice clean riff, and then slowly builds up more and more. This song was really good. I liked those Tool songs from GH: WT and this one is no exception. I should probably check out some more Tool some day. Reminds me a bit of A Perfect Circle, except Tool are probably a tad heavier, something I can imagine really getting into.

I pretty much more or less liked all of the songs, but not too many stood out. The worst song on this mixtape has to be either “Sara” or “Front Row Seats To The End Of The World”.
The highlights of this mixtape are most definitely “2,000 Leagues Under My Keyboard” by Dutch, “Welcome To Paradise” by Green Day and “Forty Six and Two” by Tool. “Tung, the Icelandic Lesbian” and “The Elbow Twist” gets honorary mentions because of their weirdness.

If I were to guess who made this I'd have to say it was either YoYo or Andami. *checks who is in* Ok, Andami made this.

FYI, Tool and A Perfect Circle have the same vocalist and guitarist. That should explain the similarity.

Alice in Chains - 'Sea of Sorrow'
For me, this pretty much sounded like every AIC song ever. I've yet to actually find a song by then that I enjoy, and this did not change that fact.

Amon Amarth - 'Embrace of the Endless Ocean'
Oh, hey, the same Amon Amarth song that's in the current SC. By all rights, not too bad a song if you just block out the vocals. The guitar work may be rather repetitive, but it's catchy and I consider it the best part of this song.

An Unkindness - 'Foundation'
So far, the best song on this mixtape. The opening is very relaxing with just a piano and the slower male vocals. It slowly kicks into gear and pretty much just plugs along. I would actually listen to this again.

Bon Jovi - 'Blood on Blood'
Ah yes, here we go. This is a great Bon Jovi song. What makes it so good for me is that it's not overplayed ad nauseum and still has some meaning to me because of that. This was a great addition to this tape.

Evanescence - 'Everybody's Fool'
YES. YES YES YES. AMAZING song. This is easily my favorite song off of 'Fallen'. As errybody here is likely well aware of, I'm a sucker for excellent female vocals and this song fits the bill perfectly. For the record, Amy Lee is incredible live and I'd like to see them again.

Fountains of Wayne - 'Mexican Wine'
Well this is interesting. I actually put this song in my mixtape last year. Despite the opening 2 seconds being cut off, this is still a great song. It's best quality? It's not 'Stacy's Mom'.

Guren Lagann OST - 'Row Row Fight the Power (Rap is a Man's Soul)'
As soon as I saw the song title, I was turned off of this song. Then I started listening to it. Actually not bad considering rap/hip-hop is one of the genres I like the least. What really made this song for me is the orchestra during the chorus. Not something I'd typically heard in a rap song. I've already listened to this twice and it will surely be more.

Halicali - 'Stylee Stylee'
This...is not my kinda song. Even the female vocals can't redeem this one for me. Honestly, I can't even put my finger on why I don't care for it. It actually doesn't have too bad a rhythm, but I just can't bring myself to like it.

Hilary Duff - 'Come Clean'
Thank god this wasn't 'So Yesterday'. I'd have an hero'd and not completed this review. I really don't have much to say about this song. I didn't absolutely despise it, but I didn't really like it either. I just don't feel like she has very much vocal talent.

Nana Kitade - 'Tsukihana'
This song wasn't too bad. I'd call it an above-average pop-rock song with a respectable solo. I only wish I knew what she was saying.

No Doubt - 'Brand New Day'
Yeah, I've never really been a big fan of No Doubt. I enjoyed the ska elements in the background, but I really didn't care for the song as a whole. I suppose it's a more uplifting song than the majority of No Doubt that's I've heard, but I tend to enjoy their slower ballad-type songs more.

Pedro Castillo - 'Wind Scene'
A nice, calming instrumental. I enjoyed this, especially after the faster-paced No Doubt song prior to this. The strings may have gotten a little too high at some points where it nearly grated nerves, but all in all, a solid addition.

Perfume - 'Polyrhythm'
Not too fond of the electronic sound of the vocals. I find that most vocal enhancements just irritate me and add nothing to the song for me. It just gives the song a 'fake' sound to it for me.

Queen - 'Seven Seas of Rhye'
This may be blasphemous, but I have NEVER cared for Queen. There's just really nothing about them that makes them stand out to me. I like the piano in this song, but otherwise it's just another song for me.

Rose of Jericho - 'Buried Cold (Rock Band Mix)'
Not bad, not bad. I wouldn't say I loved it but I certainly enjoyed it more than most of the last few songs. Good female vocals but generic rock instruments.

Shining - 'The Madness and Damage Done'
...Really? What the shit was this? I absolutely detested this song with every fiber of my being. The only conclusion I can fathom for the inclusion of this song was that it was meant to troll. I found the vocals to be awful and there was about a two minute stretch where the music literally hurt to listen to. It took all of my tolerance to listen through the whole song. Afterwards, I wanted to burn this to a CD just so I could break it.

Sonata Arctica - 'Wolf and Raven'
Maybe it was just in comparison to the last song, but this one wasn't too bad. Very fast-paced with a catchy riff to it.

StripE - 'Fire Fire'
A pretty decent techno song. It kept me interested because it wasn't the same damn beat/riff the entire song. I guess you could call it prog techno? Plus, it was quite short for a techno song so it didn't drag on forever and bore me.

The D4 - 'Come On!'
This song kinda reminds me of the earlier work of The Fratellis or the White Stripes. The recording quality is kinda lacking but in an odd sort of way, I feel like it actually adds to the quality of the song. I'm not really sure how to put what I mean into words, but I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

Yume Nikki Gensou OST - 'Return to Reality'
I actually found this song rather boring. It had the same background guitar/bass riff the whole way through. The only part that really changed was the keyboard in the foreground. I dunno, I felt this song wasn't quite on par with the majority of this mixtape.

So all in all, I felt this was a more-than-respectable mixtape. It had a fair number of songs I'd likely listen to again and only one song that I wish never existed.

I'm fairly confident this is Voltage's mixtape. That's mostly based on the inclusions of Nana Kitade, Halicali, and Bon Jovi, as I know she's a rather large fan of each of those artists/bands.
