Alright gonna go ahead and post which shows I'm watching are worth watching for everyone else (including links because I suck at writing premises). Aldnoah.Zero - So basically the same exact people who were in charge of Fate/Zero are in charge of Aldnoah.Zero, so predictably it's pretty awesome. Basically, it's a mecha series that doesn't really pull punches. The soundtrack and animation quality are also amazing (the soundtrack is done by the guy who worked on Kill la Kill's and Attack on Titan's soundtracks, which were both also great). Barakamon - Super stressed-out dude who lives in the city blows up at an event and decides to head to the country to calm down. He meets the small town's people and they usually end up teaching him some valuable life lessons. It's a nice slice-of-life show. Blue Spring Ride - This season's well-received shoujo anime. It's a very nice watch. The two main characters are pretty compelling characters and their relationship even more so. The supporting cast is strong, as tends to be the case in shoujo anime. And, as also tends to be the case in shoujo anime, the production values are freakin' amazing. (reaching the point where I realize I'm not really saying much so I'm gonna shorten these up even more) Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun - One of the two great comedies this season. This one reminds me a lot of School Rumble. The premise isn't really in the link this time. It's about a girl (the main character) who confesses to her crush, who happens to be a shoujo mangaka. He confuses her with being a fan, she ends up helping him write his manga. It's pretty funny. Sakura, the main character, is one of my favorites this season. Sabagebu! - The other hilarious comedy. A girl gets dragged into joining her school's Survival Game Club. Everyone there takes it super seriously. Main girl is actually a terrible person, which makes for a refreshing change of pace in a medium where characters tend to be impossibly good people (probably one of the reasons why Watashi is one of my favorite characters). Terror in Resonance - Shinichiro Watanabe's new anime. Pretty awesome stuff. It's a crime thriller, where the main characters are actually the bad guys. There's still a lot of mystery involved with backstories and stuff right now, and I'm expecting a great conclusion to this down the stretch. I hope it's two cours (two seasons), and this is just the first one. Best character is Shibasaki. |

So I just saw something on twitter about planetarian coming to Steam. That is kinda all sorts of awesome. It is a Kinetic Novel from the same people that made Clannad. Guys, VNs are actually starting to come out over here. Holy shit. |

Finally decided to get a Crunchyroll subscription and caught up on Aldnoah.zero and Akame ga Kill. Aldnoah.zero: The soundtrack is definitely the highlight here but the show is generally very interesting. I really like the lead character and the ways each of the fights are resolved are generally quite clever. I'm not a fan of the 3D Animation but the 2D looks fantastic. I'm skeptical/scared that the series will fall into a routine soon but consider me hooked. Akame ga Kill: An episode in, I thought it was boring, borderling annoying and too edgy for its own good. It redeemed itself in its boringness and the characters are all interesting, it's just... the "comedy" sequences or fanservice just feels really out of place. It's fine for series like this to have downtime - some of it like Akame's cooking is quite amusing - but it just feels so weird and forced a lot of the time. Code Geass: My main IRL friend for anime sings Code Geass' praises endlessly and he brought over the BluRay for us to watch, so we did the first five episodes. Pretty sure it took me less than an episode to be completely hooked on it. It felt a lot like early Death Note with some AoT elements too so as hopefully it keeps up the pace throughout the series. Really loving it so far. |

Code Geass is a really entertaining show but if there was ever a plot with too many twists and turns, Code Geass's plot was it. |

At least Code Geass waits until the second season to get cliffhanger happy. |

I'm really loving the main character and CC, they're very cool. It was very "impulsive", I think, in that I couldn't stop myself going straight to the next episode despite the cliffhangers generally being quite ordinary. Also, the art style is fucking weird. Everyone is exceedingly tall and skinny and it's really quite odd when they're all standing together. |

Yeah I heard they tend to make their characters really tall so it was just offputting at first but works for scenes like Zero standing up against Britannia for the first time. Gonna start Rebuild now, wish me luck. |
