I just finished watching the third season of Natsume's Book of Friends.

This is one of the best anime I've ever seen. Everything about it is great. The music is fantastic. The art style is awesome. The characters are great. It's largely episodic, but every single episode so far (39 episodes) has been at least "good". It's a very laid-back show, and also very emotional.

The fourth season is airing right now, so that'll bring it up to 52 episodes. By all accounts, this season is just as great as the first three. I have to urge everyone to watch this, because it really is fantastic. It's all available on Crunchyroll, too. NISA also recently licensed all four seasons for North America.

But yeah, amazing show.

I started watching AnoHana and even just one episode in, it looks interesting.

It's kinda sweet yet sad at the same time. The story? Simply put, it's about this guy and a bunch of his old friends helping this girl to grant her one wish. There's probably a plot twist somewhere in there but you have to find out for yourself.

Watched all of Angel Beats! Was a pretty good series, even if I could see many of the explanations/plot twists coming from miles out. The only thing that really bothered me was there were a good amount of emotional scenes that were immediately followed up with an intentional comedy scene. Idk, for me it diluted the impact of those scenes quite a bit. I was like "wut" every time that shit happened.

Also started Durarara!! while I was waiting on my ME3 demo to download. I don't even know what the fuck is really going on yet, but it seems decent enough. *shrugs*

For fans of Fate/stay night: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012...anga-gets-anime

It's a spinoff series where Illya is a magical girl or something. I haven't seen Fate/stay night yet, but Illya makes some brief/minor appearances in Fate/zero, and this sounds like it could be amazingly entertaining.

Over the break I watched Dance In the Vampire Bund, Elfen Lied, and Birdy the Mighty Decode 1&2 (talk about unresolved questions :/)

Elfen Lied was definitely the best out of the three, and DItVB was the worst. Birdy had its mix of interesting and boring episodes.

Yeah, I wish Birdy had a third season. Overall it was a pretty good show, but there were way too many questions not answered after the second season.

I also quite enjoyed Elfen Lied. One of those shows that can keep you sucked in the entire time.

I've heard Dance in the Vampire Bund is pretty bad so I've never bothered.

I just finished up Nisemonogatari. It's the sequel to Bakemonogatari, that I posted about earlier in this thread. Overall it was very good in many of the same ways that its predecessor was very good. It was still quirky. The characters were still fantastic. It was still very funny.

The only two things were that it wasn't as focused in its first arc (the first 7 out of the 11 episodes) and there seemed to be a lot more fan service. The first series had its fair share of fan service, but it didn't seem as blatant I guess. Also, the first arc seemed to focus more on character interactions and fitting in all of the heroines from the first series and it didn't flow as well due to that. However, these character interactions were fantastic so I didn't mind much. The plot was never the best part about this series. The show could be two people sitting in a room talking for 23 minutes and it would still be fantastic (this has essentially happened in this series, too). But, there are times when its plot can really get kicking and the second arc shows that. It was only 4 episodes long, got right into things, and it was a pretty intense arc.

Overall the show isn't quite as good as Bakemonogatari. This is mainly due to the general lack of direction with the first arc (Karen Bee) and there was quite a bit more fan service. Still, most of the things that made Bakemonogatari great are still present and it's definitely worth checking out if you liked the first show.

I would sacrifice my first born child if Birdy the Mighty was finished. Not that it was the best anime ever (though it was pretty good), but not explaining everything just pisses me off so much. Who was that blonde dude with the pedo stache? Who was the chick he was working for? Did Sayaka really preserve any of the virus within her body? We'll never know, and it killed me a little inside. Apparently there's a sequel to the manga remake title Birdy the Mighty: Evolution, but I can't find any scanlations anywhere for it.

Same applies for Elfen Lied. I knew it was Lucy's outline at the end, but they didn't show her. We know it's her. Just show her goddamn face so we have resolution!

And, yes, Dance in the Vampire Bund was pretty bad. I kept watching to see if it got better, but it actually got worst. Some things just didn't make sense.

I haven't really watched the anime you mentioned, but I do notice that some anime/manga add much more fan service to the sequels, probably to get more viewers. To-Love-Ru's sequel, Darkness, went insane on the amount of fan service. The original was raunchy, but Darkness is straight up pornographic (literally).

You want resolution for Elfen Lied, read the manga. The anime fell pretty short of the manga, in my opinion. The manga is one of the few that I have read multiple times, and has quite the solid ending.

Anywho, I'm going to see the Rebuild movies this Thursday in a double feature showing. So excited!

No use watching all of a series only to download the "true ending" at a later date.

So Madoka Magica is getting a 3-film release. The first two are going to be recap movies and the third one is going to be an original story. I'm guessing the only difference between the first two and the series will be a few new scenes and maybe even more disturbing images (oh gawd).

Well the first two movies got titled and are apparently going to be released this year.

OreImo has been green-lit for a second season. I thought the first season was pretty funny and I enjoyed it enough. I will definitely check this out. I'm just scared it's an April Fool's joke because fuck April Fool's Day.
