I finished watching the Kara no Kyoukai movies last night. An amazing series that I'd strongly recommend to everybody. The movies are an adaptation of novels from Kinoko Nasu, who also did the visual novels for Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. So, in other words, it's in good company. There are seven of them, and all seven are definitely worth watching. There are three things that really made this series special for me: 1) The music. It was pretty damn good in all of the movies. I think it did an awesome job of heightening whatever feeling you were supposed to be having throughout all of the movies. It was especially good in the seventh and last movie, which had possibly the best music of anything I've ever watched. 2) The art/animation. It was incredible. I'd say it's right on par with (or maybe even slightly better than) Fate/Zero's animation, which is a currently running TV series from the same studio (ufotable). Everything was smooth. The colors were fantastic. It was darker and "grittier" (I hate using that word, but it works in this case) without being boring in any way. And the fight scenes were by far the best I've ever seen and were actually breathtaking for the most part. The best animation I've ever seen of any anime. 3) The characters. All of the characters were interesting, even the characters that only appeared for one movie. But the best character is clearly Shiki Ryougi, the main character that the series is based around. She's probably become my favorite character ever. Her fight scenes are amazing (which would make sense since she's involved in most of the fight scenes in the movies), her character itself is amazing, and her character design is probably my favorite ever. Her character design is actually what got me to watch the movies in the first place (besides some praise I've seen for them). She's just awesome. So yeah I'd definitely recommend the series. If I were to describe the series as anything, it'd be a Thriller series, with some Romance, Action, and Mystery thrown in. It's fantastic. There will be few scenes that I see that I'll enjoy as much as some of the ones in these movies. |

OHOHO I SEE WE HAVE AN ANIME THREAD UP IN HERE? Recently finished Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou and as a guy who loves Slice of Lives, it was quite entertaining. But Nichijou still wins imo. In other news KORE WA ZOMBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE OF THE DEAD is pretty good so far. |

We try to use English names in this here thread, yo. Anyways, I've heard The Daily Lives of High School Boys is hilarious. I'm probably going to check it out soon. |

I live by the rule "English unless the English title makes me want to slaughter the innocent". Case in point, Asobi Ni Iku Yo! I refuse to call it by the English name. |

I just use what I see it called most often. For example, I very rarely see Daily Lives of High School Boys referred to as Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, so I use the English name. I rarely see The World God Only Knows referred to as Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, so I use the English name. But it works the other way, too. I never see Nichijou referred to as My Ordinary Life, so I use the Japanese name. I think there's a generally accepted name that's used for most shows. Some there aren't (the Kara no Kyoukai movies I was talking about above seem to be referred to as that or as The Garden of Sinners almost interchangeably), but most there are. |

Or Karin. When I found the English version was called "Chibi Vampire" I was like "Wut the fuck?" Chibi sounds cute and all, but neither the manga nor the anime are chibi. |

Wow, that is quite the derp. Anybody plan on watching anything this season? Here are the shows. I'm going to watching the second part of Fate/Zero because the first part was amazing, and you should all watch it too. Kids on the Slope has the same director and composer from Cowboy Bebop, so that's an insta-watch. I'll most likely watch the Lupin III show. I watched part of the first episode to give it a try, and it seems decent enough to watch. Bewbs. I also watched the first episode of Zetman. First episode wasn't particularly good, but I'll keep watching for now. Also looking at maybe watching: Space Bros (Uchu Kyodai), Sankarea, Ozuma (it's airing on Crunchyroll and it's only 6 episodes, so why not?), Medaka Box, and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. Odds are I'll wait a week or two before starting any of them, see how they're being received, then try them out. |

I'm already swamped with a lot of shows so I'll only watch a few. I already started Is this a Zombie of the Dead, I might watch Sankarea and Kimi to Boku. I'll definitely see if Yurumates is worth watching. |

Kimi to Boku is actually the second part of a show that aired during the Fall 2011 season, similar to Fate/Zero, just so you know. |
