For some reason, after watching End of Evangelion, I feel gloomy.

I feel like that after finishing most anime.

Just finished Corpse Princess. I wish they would have made just a few more episodes :/

I was thinking of watching this a few months ago, but I was told that the series ends on a cliffhanger. Is that true?

So I continued Madoka Magica yesterday. Simply put, it's somewhat similar to Evangelion ("somewhat" because I'm only a few episodes in). So yeah, hopefully, I won't die after this.

It's the Eva of Magical Girl series. Except that it's more brutal. A lot more.

Pretty much. The last true episode (the final episode is an OVA) ends without all loose ends being tied and even features the signature "to be continued" that oh so many anime use.

Not much to write about but the subs to the Another OVA is up. Took somebody like a week but it's understandable. Why? Because nothing much is going on (as with the case for most OVA's.) The story's rather simple: basically, it's about Misaki's life before the events of the series.

I get this strange feeling that fanservice is involved in the making of this.

You fuckers watched Toonami even if you just put it on mute, right?

As far as the old shows go, I understand keeping Bleach. It's meh, but I'd bet it's far and away their most watched show. It also serves as a lead for the other shows. Was never a fan of Full Metal Alchemist/Brotherhood. Every time something interesting might happen, it feels like some stupid "lol xd so randum" moment undermines it. Or perhaps it just doesn't take itself as seriously as much of what I like. And of course I love Cowboy Bebop/GitS, but I've seen them.

Only two new shows, which was kind of meh, but I'm hoping/assuming they'll add more once the ratings justify it.

Deadman Wonderland didn't sound all that appealing to me from the previews they were showing, but it actually turned out to be an alright first episode. The premise is fairly interesting, at the least, even if there is no character who jumps out as truly interesting yet. I'm not a huge fan of gore (it generally screams "WE'RE NOT CREATIVE"), so it was nice to see that it was limited. It's present, but not overwhelmingly so.

Casshern Sins seems like it's going to be a slow burner. The first episode wasn't that intriguing in any way, but given that it's a slow anime, I'll need to watch it moar before I decide whether or not I stick with it. Apparently this week's episode is supposed to be really good, so yeah, looking forward to seeing if it is.

In non-Toonami news, finished Madoka Magica. SO GOOD. Make some time and watch this shit ASAP; it kicks your ass. I'm normally not a fan of shorter shows, but this is easily one of the better ones.

Idk what to start after I finish season five of The Wire. Then again, I haven't given it much thought yet.

I just recently finished Steins;Gate, which was really really really good. It's based around time travel and is a great drama/thriller. Only thing I'm not sure about is if you'd be able to get into the characters. They're otakus (some more than others) and they're generally quirky/eccentric. They're *good* characters, but very different from things that I've watched, at least. I'm not sure how much you'd care about that. I'd really recommend the show, though, anyways. At least to give it a shot.

I'd also recommend trying out Code Geass, Gankutsuou, or the Kara no Kyoukai movies (what my avatar/sig are from) if you don't want to give Steins;Gate a shot. Could go into more detail on any of them if you want.

Deadman Wonderland is something I'm really looking forward to, which is weird. I almost never watch any shows currently airing. Usually I just watch things that have finished over the internet or on Netflix. The only exceptions so far are Young Justice, Mystery Inc., and Adventure Time.

And much to my disappointment, AS lied about Panty & Stocking w/ Garterbelt :( I kind also wish that they would extend Toonami to include the time slots currently held by KotH, Family Guy, and Boondocks. Those shows already get enough air time as it is.

So I finished Madoka Magica today. Honestly, this show exceeded my expectations. I watched like 8 episodes from afternoon to evening (can't remember the last time I marathoned a series with that many eps.) So yeah, a must-watch for everyone.

Oh yeah, DAT ENDING.

Toonami did pretty well. Let's hope that this can continue in the coming weeks.

I'm under the assumption that Deadman Wonderland has the best opening ever or at least top 5.

Hey look I'm joining this thread now!

Anyway, I have a question: Is High School of the Dead supposed to be a serious anime, or a parody? Because I started watching it, and I just giggled the whole time. Not because it was funny, but because it was ridiculous. It just felt TOO anime-stereotype-ish. Every movement any girl made resulted in ridiculous tit-bouncing, the creators used every chance for an upskirt, and everything that resulted in blood, came out with BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. It was still kinda good, but if it was trying to be a legit show, than it did a really bad job.

The manga is more serious, but, yeah, the anime is basically one big fanservice bonanza. It's not necessarily a parody, though.

They certainly played some tropes gleefully straight, almost to a fault. Not a bad series, but dear lord the fanservice. The OVA is even worse (read:more gratuitous).

I second this.
