If Game of Thrones was only Tyrion being awesome and Dany being nekkid, it would be the most successful show in history. |

Dexter was all right. Better than last season, for sure, but it still had its issues and inconsistencies. It seems that others liked it more than I did. Homeland, on the other hand, was amazing. I was a little worried about a drop-off since it was tough to follow last season and it seemed like they didn't really have many places to go, but they surprised me in a very good way. Still extremely compelling stuff. Looking forward to the rest of the season. |

Misc things: Alphas -- Haven't seen the new ep from two days ago yet (recorded it, though) but at least the one before it was pretty good. Some of the eps before that one were kinda eh but it's getting better again. Arrow -- Just the pilot ep of course, since the second one isn't on until about two and a half hours from now. The pilot felt a lot like Nolan's Batman movies, but apparently Green Arrow was originally based on Batman anyway. I hope the show stays this good, and hopefully they don't introduce and defeat a new villain in every episode. I'd rather see characters interacting and building up to someone becoming a villain and then eps that work towards the villain's defeat. I feel like this show can do that because, well, it has more time than a movie. I loved the Batman movies, but I mean the first one pretty much ends with "o, btw, there's this guy named the Joker". I think a TV show such as this could build up a villain better instead of just having a new villain each week who happened to stay under the radar until it was convenient for the show. Arrested Development -- One day I was like "I want to start BrBa, but not enough time right now" so now whenever I have time for a ~20 min show, but not ~40, I'll watch AD. Only had time to watch the pilot yesterday. Hope it gets better since I've heard it's really good, and I didn't like the first episode all that much. |

So, I haven't watched some American TV shows in a while so I finally started watching the first episodes of House, The Walking Dead, and Dexter. Gonna try to find the time to start watching Mad Men and Breaking Bad and probably continue How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, and The Big Bang Theory. |

Been watching Buffy. Specifically, 8 episodes on Saturday, and 6 other episodes scattered around then through now. So the next episode is Phases, episode 15 from season 2. It mentions a werewolf in the description, and I believe Oz is a werewolf, so I think I know where this is going. Anyway, this part is right after that spoilery thing with Angel and the two-parter with the Judge. I've really loved the character development in this season. I assume it keeps going because I've heard Buffy is supposed to start getting pretty good in season 2, where I am, and then gets even better from there. Now I want to kick myself for not continuing to watch this earlier when I finished season 1. (Although... I did stop partially for BSG, which I loved too, so that's alright.) |

ONWARD: Series 2 of Sherlock-Okay, there's a trend in Sherlock series. The first episode is terrific, the second one is forgettable and basically irrelevant, and the third one continues the story arch with Moriarty. The first episode, "A Scandal in Belgravia", is one of the best episodes of anything ever. It's full of great cinematography, acting, writing, and whatever else makes television good. Then there's the second episode. My main problem with it is that the plot is just so farfetched that wasn't credible. Also, Sherlock has 90 minute episodes. The episodes typically feel like their own movie. "The Hounds of Baskerville" just felt like a really long episode. AND onto the third episode, "The Reichenbach Fall." It's the Shutter Island of TV episodes, aiming to disorient and twist everything you though you knew. The problem is that the ending was blatantly obvious 20 minutes away. And no, the ending doesn't have to do with the twists I mentioned. You'll get it; no worries, no spoilers. Series 1 & 2 of Luther-This is a bit of a difficult show to review. I kind of figure that no one's ever really paid attention to this and doesn't know what it's about. It's basically a really dark and gritty detective drama and character study. I liked series 2 more, because it seemed more cohesive with the cases spanning multiple episodes rather than the let's-solve-a-murder-in-40-minutes cliché that covered the first 2/3 of the first series (although there are only 6 episodes in the first (and four in the second)). The problem with the second series is the disappointing absence of Alice Morgan, who is clearly the best and most interesting character. She's basically your friendly neighborhood sociopath who flashes between trying to help you and trying to murder everyone you love. I like her. The first series had no real overarching plot other than some failed relationship ordeal that was never really that interesting. The last two episodes are a total change of pace though, and no longer involve the standard cop formula, and I think that was the point all along. They couldn't START with that, because it wouldn't have made sense. The last two episodes are better, but still not the best. Series two is dark as fuck. I wish there was a video I could link of the office massacre, because that whole scene was HOLY WHAT THE FUCK level insanity. It's essentially just a guy clubbing people to death with a hammer and spraying others in the face with acid for like three minutes. It's an okay show, but it's a kind of slow burn and the main character struggles with likeability. Season two of The Walking Dead-It surprises nobody that the first and last episodes are the best. It stayed really good for a long time, but the little saga starting at "18 Miles Out" was annoying and too long. I did like that it gave Dale a shining moment though. It was better than season 1 or what's happened so far in season 3. Freaks and Geeks-A cult favorite canceled after one season, and it's a tragedy. It's a period piece about the freaks (burnout/stoner/misfits) and the geeks (obvious) trying to deal with high school and life in the 80's (but it was made in 2000). What ties the storylines together is that one of the freaks is the sister of one of the geeks, and so they occasionally interact, but for the most part are two different stories dealing with separate issues in each episodes. The acting is kickass, and it makes sense because the show launched a ton of careers including: James Franco, Martin Starr, Jason Segal, Samm Levine, Linda Cardellini, and Sarah Hagan (who is Amanda in the 7th season of Buffy for those of you who were just talking about that). The writing is really smart and the plots and characters are real. Literally, a lot of the stories are based on things that really happened to the crew, but also just in the way that people behave. Everything is gray rather than the miraculous, "Go hang out with your friends all night and do your homework in 20 seconds and ace every test and spend hours at home with your family who loves you very much," that television usually has. Well, bad television. It's one of my favorite shows now, and the one season is sad. At least it had a fairly long 18 episode season. I dunno what's next. |

LAD hasn't been on Mibbit since Sunday's episode of TWD </3. Anyway, don't click this if you haven't been watching season 3.
So I know they had the grave for Carol but I thought what's-his-face (Glen Mazzara?) said she's alive and then the description for the next episode says Daryl finds her knife or whatever so she might be alive. I hope she's alive. I like her. Also, next week is gonna be soooo good with Andrea, I think. You could tell she was thinking about what Michonne said. That and the preview showed her running away from Woodbury. I'm gonna guess this makes the Governor send out a search party for them or something (if nothing else, because Merle wants more info on how to find Daryl) and while they're searching they find the prison. Idk. Anyway, we'll see. :3
|
When I saw the third grave, I thought to my self, what the fuck? Because we never saw Carol actually die, Daryl just found her bandana. I really hope she isn't dead, I am really starting to like her too. I'm sure she's in some far corner of the prison terrified. Episode 4 was complete bullshit, I mean, both T-Dog and Lori? =[ I am really curious about Rick and the phone... And I'm sure Andrea will go after Michonne. I never watch the previews, because fuck spoilers, but I'm excited for that now. :P
|
