I saw an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal, and while the main character is extremely annoying, it isn't as bad as everyone claims it is (the premise is less ridiculous than Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds anyway). |

Oh I forgot season 1 of Arrow ended. I think Mac watches it, but I'm not sure if anyone else here does.
I was pretty satisfied with the season finale. I was surprised when the second earthquake device activated. That just seems like it will have huge consequences that will be important next season, which sounds great to me. As for Tommy's death, I knew someone had to die (the episode was called Sacrifice) but I did not expect it to be him. I guess that clears up any tension between him and Oliver about Laurel, though. So that's good, 'cause the love triangle stuff was getting annoying. I like Roy, but the way he's behaving, he could probably get killed (but won't). Also, I like what they did with the island flashbacks in the last episode. That felt like a season finale by itself. I'm curious to see where they go with that, since they haven't revealed any other organizations on the island (yet?). So yeah, overall, good season. When the show started, I thought it felt like Nolan Batman and they would just cross off a new name each week. I'm glad it's not that. Looking forward to season two.
|

Season 1 of Bates Motel ended two days ago. I'm not gonna bother with a spoiler post 'cause I don't think anyone watches it, but I won't spoil anything. The show is about the Bates family. It is a prequel to Psycho and is supposed to show Norman Bates's experiences at the motel that shaped him to become the killer in Psycho. The show begins with the unexpected death of Norman's father, prompting his mother, Norma Bates, to move their family to a large house with a motel to start over in a new city. However, the small city has a ton of secrets. Many people are not who they seem to be. Other important characters include the sheriff, Norman's brother (who had previously moved out, but came back to care for Norman, despite hating their mother), two girls from Norman's high school (the most popular one and a less-popular smart one), Norman's English teacher, and the previous owner of the motel. And some guys with a field of marijuana. So anyway, I felt like the show was pretty good for the first few episodes. It didn't get bad after that, but the focus changed. Suddenly, everything seemed to be about Norman's relationship with those two girls. Some of it was pretty important, but I just thought it took up too much of each episode. Some of the background-ish things during those episodes weren't really explained and then weren't important in the end (maybe in season 2, but they started some things and just forgot them in the finale so idk). The season finale was good, so I guess I'll probably watch season 2 next year. Some stuff still needs to be explained, though. |

Uh-oh. I know the major death in that season, but I didn't realize the whole season was painful. I'm excited! And scared. |

I was waiting for that last night, because I thought it was 12:01 EST, but then it was 12:01 PST, which is 2:01 here, and fuck that. I'm watching Fringe, but I'll pause to watch that now, because it'll be way faster. |

Yeah, I was hoping to start watching at midnight EST too. Also, might as well post this here: Amazon has a sale (I assume it's a sale, anyway) where you can get the first three seasons of AD on DVD for $24.99. |

So to make Arrested Development season 4 end later (and because I like finishing seasons), I watched some Star Trek (TOS) and finished season 2. Can't really talk about the season as a whole very much 'cause the episodes don't really relate to each other most of the time, so I'll just comment on episodes that stuck out (in a good, bad, or other kind of way). I watched it over a long stretch of time, so I might have forgotten some stuff from episodes that were earlier in the season. Amok Time -- I don't remember if season 1 had any, but this was an episode about Spock's half-human and half-Vulcan personality. This was the first episode of season 2 (on Netflix, anyway -- apparently they aired in a different order) so details might be foggy, but basically, Vulcans have this mating period, and Spock was going through that in this episode. He tried to resist it, but anyway some stuff happened and I'm not going to spoil anything here I'm just pointing out what I liked just in case anyone wants to go and watch it. Mirror, Mirror -- This is the episode where mirror universe Spock is evil, as explained by his beard. I, Mudd -- This episode features Harry Mudd, who was in a season 1 episode. He's on a planet all alone commanding a bunch of robots. Mudd is just a silly guy and the ending was funny. That's what made this episode enjoyable to me. Other than that, the plot was kinda average. Metamorphosis -- One of those episodes about immortality and humanity and stuff. This guy loves this cloud of energy, which provides for all of his needs and offers him eternal life. However, IT'S A CLOUD OF ENERGY, so he can't have a normal human relationship with it. When the Enterprise crew finds him, they want him to leave because he's a really important guy in Star Trek history, but this energy cloud can't leave, so he doesn't want to either. Then some spoilery stuff happens. Obsession -- I just felt like this episode had really good characters. In addition to the main cast, there are some supporting characters that just bring more to the episode. The episode is about Kirk hunting a killer cloud/fog entity that he encountered when he was younger. Kirk has an "obsession" with finding it, and this episode shows how that affects the rest of the crew, which I liked. Most episodes are usually just a handful of the main cast on the planet with the rest on the ship trying to solve a problem, so this one stuck out. Wolf in the Fold -- "Scotty is accused of murdering a belly dancer." (Netflix description) The Trouble with Tribbles -- This is the episode with the Tribbles. The Immunity Syndrome -- Okay I kinda have to spoil this one to post about why I liked it. Y'see, there's this GIANT SPACE ORGANISM (really it's like a giant cell) that's threatening to EAT THE GALAXY. McCoy wants to study it, but it's going to EAT THE GALAXY, so they have to stop it. Stopping things like this often involves destroying them, so he's upset about that. So basically, their last chance is to send someone in a shuttle to get a better analysis of the creature and then destroy it. However, whoever goes will certainly die. McCoy and Spock both want to go, but obviously only one can, and Kirk picks Spock. There's a sad moment where Spock goes in and he talks to Kirk (emotionally in his unemotional way) with the radio slowly getting more interference and eventually being cut off completely. Kirk and McCoy think Spock died after the creature is destroyed, but of course, he lived. So everyone's happy. The Omega Glory -- Someone violates the prime directive! This episode was EXTREMELY American. I didn't really like it (I mean yeah the US is cool I just didn't like that they really shoved the idea of MURRKAH in this episode), but like I said, I'm just posting about episodes that stuck out. |
