I've been almost binge-watching Doctor Who for the last few days. It's such a fucking good show, and it just gets better and better.
I just finished season 4 this morning. Dat ending. I cried a little.

Psst guys watch Sleepy Hollow, it just started this past Monday at 9PM on Fox so it'll probably get cancelled but it looks like it'll be good while it lasts.

Oops, sorry, I forgot you watched it. Maybe because you didn't? It's only been one episode, but I enjoyed it. And they didn't do a lot of stupid things that they could've done with a show like this. Yes, "Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman wake up in the 21st century" could be done very poorly, but after io9 said it was the best pilot they watched for the fall season, I figured I'd try it. All I really knew about it before was that it was from the guys who made Fringe (minus Abrams). Anyway, I liked the acting (from the two main characters, anyway -- don't know who else is important yet). I guess my biggest complaint is that the pilot introduced several plotlines (how did they come back, why did they come back, preventing the apocalypse, what's up with Abbie's sister, what was the dead sheriff up to, who else is hiding supernatural stuff in the town) and at one point there was even a prophecy of a "seven year journey" which I think implies seven seasons, but I don't think shows should try to stuff long-term plans like that in the first episode because there's no guarantee they'll all be resolved.

TL;DR -- Good acting. Plots should be interesting if there's time for all of them. And the show just felt fun (when appropriate). If you expect everything to be realistic and dark and gritty then sorry no don't watch it.

EDIT: I'm not trying to sound butthurt, but I just don't like when people hate things they haven't tried, and I didn't really say what I liked about it in my first post so I thought I'd throw that in here too.

I've been watching Archer on Netflix. It's hysterical. H. Jon Benjamin is amazing.

I had to watch almost a whole season before I really started enjoying it. Then I watched them all over again and I got hooked. I noticed a lot more little jokes that I missed the first time through.

Finished season one of Under the Dome. The last episode was six days ago, but uh I wasn't really that motivated to watch it because the show really isn't that great. I don't like any of the characters. I don't mean that in the BrBa way where most of the characters are bad people. I mean that these characters are all terribly stupid. ALL OF THEM. Let's see here: (spoilers, but you shouldn't watch this so it's okay)

-- Only cop in the town: Recently watched the sheriff die, so she's now in charge. Luckily, there are still a few other cops in town. Wait, never mind, they're all crazy and one of them shot another one and then the rest disappeared or something idk. So now that she's alone, she becomes terribly stupid. After finding out that the sheriff, the reverend, and the only politician in town did some evil things, she does everything the politician tells her to do, including locking up some kids and tracking down a falsely-accused guy so he can be lynched.

-- Only politician in town: Councilman who tells everyone that he is now the new mayor and new reverend by the end of the first season. Kills several people, blames their murders on one of the most helpful guys in town so now they all want to kill him.

-- Guy with mysterious military past who killed someone who didn't pay him: After that, he decides to help out the terrible police in town by stopping riots and such. Nice guy. Then his girlfriend (whose husband he killed in the first episode) gets shot and he's blamed for it, so he doesn't deny the charges until he's made an agreement to confess in front of the town.

-- Token Nerd Boy: Uses trigonometry to calculate the size of the dome, talks about Star Wars a couple times, corrects people who think the caterpillar is in a cocoon because NO IT'S A CHRYSALIS, feels like a comic book character from at least fifty years ago because he's always describing what's going on.

-- Nerd Boy's girlfriend: Her parents are a lesbian interracial couple, so they introduced them so that a couple people could make rude comments and then they mostly disappeared from the show except for a few scenes in a few episodes and one of them died and then the aliens used her form to talk to the kids. Anyway, she's only in town because her parents were sending her to some kind of summer camp, and she was really pouty about it at first, then she just kinda got annoyed with everything. She was usually saner than the rest of the characters though, so that's good.

-- Insane guy: Son of evil Dean Norris mayor politician guy. After the dome came down, he decided that his girlfriend was crazy, so to cure her, he locked her up in his fallout shelter for a few episodes so she would feel better. Later, he becomes the second police officer of the town and uses his new position to kill some guys he doesn't like after they stole stuff. After finding out his father was responsible for murdering lots of people, he decides he's really not as bad as everyone says, and agrees to help him in the lynching (which was cut off at the end of the season finale, but it seems obvious that they won't go through with it because something magical will stop them).

-- Insane guy's girlfriend: After escaping, she tells the owner of the diner what happened to her, but then some guys kill the owner so she takes over. After that, she's never seen in the diner again. She and the other kids find out that they can talk to the dome through a mini dome, seizures, and visions of people they know. The police and evil Dean Norris don't like that, so they're on the run from the law and stuff for a while.

-- Reporter lady: She probably did more investigative work than any of the police. Later got shot. A few minutes after waking up from her coma, she's out and about trying to save the day and such. She didn't really seem as stupid as the other characters, but I guess all she really did was talk to people.

EDIT: Oh uh and I finished season 2 of The Wire, which was a lot better than this, so that's cool. I didn't like that the Barksdale stuff felt like it was in the background for this season. I know that this season's case didn't involve the Barksdale organization/crew/whatever, but I want to see more of that. Anyway umm I was going to just continue with this (or watch season 5 of Angel, then continue this) but Milk started watching Twin Peaks so I might have to do that now too. I was going to soon anyway but I like being able to talk to people about stuff when neither of us know how it will end. Haven't started yet though, busy week and weekend.
