I just finished a few shows I had been watching so here goes:

Rectify: A Sundance show, this just started its second season, and it is easily one of the best shows around that no one knows about. It's about a man who is released from death row after 19 years for raping/killing a girl after new evidence arises that maybe he didn't do it. It's one of the slowest shows on (probably the slowest since Treme is done) but that doesn't hurt it. It is beautifully shot, and Aden Young kills it. The first season is only 6 episodes and on Netflix, so go watch it.

Fargo: If you liked the movie, you'll love this. Hell, I know people who hated the movie and still loved this. I can't really say more than has been said by every television critic, simply put it's pretty fucking great. Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, everyone is great in it. It better win all the Emmys.

Silicon Valley: Snow already reviewed this, so yeah, it's like what he said. It starts out entertaining, but it gets progressively funnier in each episode. Nice and short, and I liked it.

Justice League Unlimited: I've already talked about this show. It's great, as all DCAU shows are. I can only hope that the upcoming movies are anywhere near as good as this. Season 3 (season 2 on Netflix) is a bit slow, if only because it's not quite as good as the perfect season 2. But yeah, I'm willing to say this is better even than Batman: the Animated Series.

since I finished Dexter, I thought I'd post my thoughts on the finale for better understanding, and what I liked and didn't like:

SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

spoilers

Series thoughts as a whole. Ranking system on the seasons? 2 > 4 > 1 > 7 > 5 > 6 > 3 > 8

season 8 was not even bad. It got boring at times, and the finale was the worst tv experience ever. that is why I put Season 8 at the bottom of this list. Overall the show was truthfully one of my favorites ever and I am glad I watched it. I do recommend watching the show in its entirety because even though the last few seasons aside from 7 weren't that great, the first couple are holy shit amazing, and its worth catching Dexter's full story.

8/10

Orange is the New Black (season 2) -- Again, super good. I liked season two more than season one. From what I've read on the internet, fans who like when the show focuses on Piper generally liked season one more, and those who are also interested in the other characters liked season two more. That makes sense, 'cause a lot of season two focuses on not-Piper. However, some people said they liked season two less because it wasn't as funny, which I don't understand. I thought both seasons were hilarious. It's definitely a "dramedy", so yeah, it has dramatic moments with not-happy emotions. But I thought season 2 might have been even funnier than season one. So I don't know what those other people were thinking, but both seasons are great and unlike any other show I've seen.

Coming soon: I've fallen two episodes behind on both Halt and Catch Fire and The Leftovers. So I'll catch up with those shows, but... it's probably time that I try an anime. I'm planning on starting Death Note sometime in the next few days, but I have to finish a couple things I'm reading first (got the last two Y: The Last Man books, and I have to finish that Hitchcock book) and then I'll start Death Note. After that, I'll probably watch season one of Fargo (I think it's on FX's website on-demand thingy) and then... I haven't narrowed down what's after that yet.

I don't know what just happened, but I spontaneously watched the first two seasons of True Blood! There's not nearly as much sex as I expected, especially in season two (okay, season two had a high quantity of sex, but it was usually background type stuff, as opposed to lengthy/intimate scenes). The beginning of season one got a bit cray with the sex and let's not talk about overdosing on V. Speaking of Jason, I really did not like him at all in season one, but I thought he was a lot more likable in season two. And he's starting to ask intelligent questions -- has Sam had dog sex? But speaking of Sam: I know we can just assume he's "imprinted" a bull at some point, but we've seen all the other animals before he's morphed into them, so the bull felt like cheating. I guess it's possible that the first thing he did after running away from Maryann was find a bull, though. Wutevz. Also, Sookie needs to use her telepathy more. I got the impression she only blocked out close friends/family, but then the church throws her in a cage and she's asking "HOW DO YOU KNOW JASON?!" instead of reading Steve's mind and finding out how he knows Jason. There were other times when I thought she should be using telepathy too, but that one especially stood out because she was only with two or three people and it probably would have been easy for her to listen to one of them. Anyway. I genuinely enjoy this show right now and plan on watching it to the end.

Would recommend if you like bloody messes, sex, Michelle Forbes summoning the town to orgies, humor, boobs, man butts, love quadrangles, and/or catchy country theme songs.

EDIT: I know most of that probably makes no sense if you haven't seen it, but I'm just assuming most of you already know whether or not you're going to watch it, so I didn't bother explaining anything and just spilled out a few thoughts.

I've started watching the comedy show "Welcome to Sweden", it's about an American from New York called Bruce who moves to Sweden to live with his girlfriend, Emma.

I'm four episodes in (there are only 10 episodes so far), and I think it is absolutely hilarious. It portrays some very Skandinavian and Swedish things like how we act, and what our environment is like, but it kind of puts it a bit on the edge, and then adds a New Yorker's understanding of this stuff, which is very funny. Stuff like how you act towards you neighbours, driving and lots of random stuff.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a torrent of the entire season on the piratebay with English subs (well, if you want to understand what the swedes are saying that is).

Actually, here's a torrent with both Swedish and English subs lol

Finished seasons three and four of True Blood. Russell Edgington was a great villain in season 3. I mean, he didn't have any kind of great master plan or anything that a lot of cool villains have, but I really just liked him being on the show. And of course,

do you really care about True Blood spoiler gifs?

As for season 4, I really, really hated Marnie (the way you're supposed to hate villains), but I thought she was a pretty stupid villain. She just talked a lot about hating vampires, used like one spell against them per episode, and then tried to act like she was the victim. Sure, she was blinded by hatred or whatever for some unknown reason, but meh. Still annoying.

Now that I have Amazon Prime, I can finally get around to watching (in full) the definition of my childhood: Batman The Animated Series. I'm halfway through it (and then I have the 20something episodes of the New Batman Adventures) and it's both as great and not as I remember. The show does have some absolutely abysmal episodes (I've Got Batman in the Basement, Moon of the Wolf, literally every episode featuring Catwoman) that almost make going through this show unbearable. But then when this show gets it right, it gets it remarkably right. The good episodes (like Heart of Ice, Two Face, Mad as a Hatter, Perchance to Dream, Beware the Gray Ghost) are so good, they almost erase the bad ones (almost). So yeah, while I would say Justice League was more consistent in quality (most likely due to how it never kept the focus on any singular character), BtAS is still the superior show. My inner kid is literally screaming in joy.

I just finished the series finale of Dexter and i wanna know what the god damn fuck that finale was, why it happened, and a solution on how we can change it

This article summed it up pretty well. (Code ain't feel like working now so I guess just copy/paste the link.)

season 8 was not even bad.

Completely disagree. It was awful. Worst season of television that I've seen. If you stuck the first half of 24's last season together with the second half of Twin Peaks' last season (and sprinkle in the worst of Lost's last season), Dexter's last season would still be worse, by a lot. Those shows didn't ever make me question why I watched them, like it did every five minutes for the last ~12 hours of Dexter. Also, the lumber jack thing.

So much cringing. So much.

I couldn't take much more True Blood after season 3 (I think I saw an episode or two of season 4 before I stopped) but there were some good memories, especially from season 2. And that theme song is like the only good country song ever made. Is it even country? I don't think country songs are allowed to be good.

And now I've watched seasons five and six of True Blood. I didn't care much for season five because the plot didn't really feel like it was very clear/focused until the last couple of episodes or something like that. I guess before that it just seemed like they talked about stuff that has happened or will happen, but not much happened. There were some deaths of minor characters, but I don't think I ever knew some of their names, so they weren't that important.

I thought season six was better, but that one website that graphs IMDb ratings ("Graph TV") says season six was worse. I guess season six did focus a bit too much on people doing stupid things for Sookie, though. But the worst part of both seasons is definitely the werewolf stuff. The Emma stuff kind of made the werewolves somewhat more relevant to Bon Temps because Sam was involved, but I'm pretty sure everything else werewolf-related just existed so Joe Manganiello could growl and take off his shirt. The season six finale made it seem like the last season will return to focusing on vampires, though, so I guess that'll be good if it does that and it's not a lie.

Re watching supernatural with my fiance. Trying to get through it and get her caught up, plus I missed the last half of season 9. Sadly due to AoS coming on at the same time as Supernatural I'llhave watch it the dash after it comes on some I care more about AoS ratings since Supernatural is on season 10 so I feel quality isn't going to hold up too much longer. So long as they actually plan the ending and it doesn't suck then I don't care

The quality fell off a cliff a few years ago.

True but season eight and what I've seen of season nine were a lot better than six and seven, plus there's still the occasional really great episode. Season five was the peak and nothing will match it

Season 8 was definitely pretty good, and it seemed like they were about to get back to like, season 3 quality at best, but then season 9 was just so hit-or-miss for me. And next season just looks like a complete rehash of season 6 in terms of overall arc. Which is not good.

Like I said, I have only seen part of Season 9, so a I can't comment too much and so I've also avoided any talk of Season 10. I don't know hopefully they will just ignore Season 6 and 7 and pretty much have a new five season arc that began with season 8 and ends with a season 12.

I feel what makes it bad is that the first five seasons were very well made in terms of everything fitting into this big picture, but now it just seems like their winging it. The first five seasons were a perfect story that was wrapped up at the end of Season 5.
