I know, but I had to post it any way. And I have never really understood why people are against torrenting shows, especially if you missed it on TV or something like that. |

Nah I just don't torrent anything anymore. If I miss an episode or two of a show and can't see it on the channel's site, I'll go to like, Project Free TV or something, but otherwise I usually just wait for Netflix. |

If you want to spend the least amount of money, catch up once they add it to Netflix, watch the most recent episodes on hulu, and buy whatever few you miss, which hopefully won't be much. Or if you don't mind spending a little money, you can buy the season for $25 on amazon which is only a little more than a $1 an episode. |

I refuse to torrent anything. It is the same thing as stealing. I will buy what I really want OR I will watch it on a service I pay for. If I miss it, so be it. |

If you get that channel, it's paid for *somehow*, so I don't see it so much as That said, I'll torrent a season if I'm really that desperate and delete it once I'm finished with the season. I'm not made of HDD space and I don't re-watch many things, so there's no point in keeping it forever. Edited by Romanticide, Sep 20 2014, 02:15 AM.

Well, I agree to some degree that if it is on a channel you pay for you technically do already pay for it, but even then viewer numbers are what actually pays for the show. The money mainly goes to the service provider. But AoS is on network tv. Even then, if I missed an episode of something I don't feel bad if I watch it online illegally, simply because I know that A. I already missed out on being one of the viewers and B. I'm going to be watching the newest episode, which will give them extra views which pays for the show. Imo it's better to watch the show illegally then watch it when it airs, than to not watch it when it airs at all. For an extreme example, imagine if a million people missed the first season of a show that they want to see, but they don't have the money to buy the episodes and it's not available to stream. Would it be better if they just didn't watch it at all, or if they watched it illegally and then started to watch episodes as it aired? The first one is legal, but the second one is better for the show in the long run. An extra million viewers can make or break a show. Of course examples aren't normally that extreme, but still. Games, movies, and music are different considering they're based mainly off purchases instead of plays/views/listens. Edited by CALJR_8760, Sep 20 2014, 03:53 AM.

While true, I think companies are starting to count online views as part of their total count. A lot of channels put up like, the 5 most recent episodes of a show on their site, probably for the reason you said, so you can catch up and watch it live next week. But some companies are beginning to realize that very few people watch on live TV anymore so they are starting to count other numbers. |

This. Plus, we don't get all this awesome shit that you get on TV over here (well, we get a lot of it, but we don't have the right channels here, and I sure as hell wont wait 1-2 weeks to watch a show). Besides, I hardly ever watch TV, so it's just more convenient for me to torrent shows I want to watch, most of the shows (like HIMYM/whatever) air on TV all the time over here, so we do pay for it...it's just easier to have all of it available for me to watch whenever I want to. *edit* Then again, I do believe Scandinavians are a bit more care-free when it comes to torrenting. *shrug* Edited by Granskjegg, Sep 20 2014, 07:13 PM.

I'm pretty sure most if not all pay attention to online views now. In fact AoS happens to get most it's views from dvr and online apparently which they seemed to have counted. I doubt foreign countries it really matters as much if your watch a show when it comes on, and by that I mean foreign shows. They mainly just care about the domestic views except really big shows. So I can understand to an extent being in a foreign country and torrenting, but American shows rely on America's views/purchases to keep them going |
