Finally got around to watching season one of The Big Bang Theory. The character interactions are amusing and I can relate to the awkwardness at times, albeit from high school rather than my adult years.

Just finished David Tennant's stint of Doctor Who, started Matt Smith's. Also, starting Sherlock, though that shouldn't take long to finish. Very good show, but you really have to pay attention.

On top of the anime I watched/am watching, also (finally) started season 5 of The Wire.

...McNulty, what in the everliving fuck goes through your brain? It's bad enough that he was brought back in a prominent role (season 4 was BLISS), but now this harebrained scheme goes beyond his usual shenanigans and straight into the fucked-up. I guess I agree with his reason, but not sure the ends justify these means.

Not sure I like the media angle so far. I get that the media is complicit in the war on drugs and how we view it/crime and all that jazz, but so far the story is... uhhh... I guess people not getting the recognition they deserve for real shit and the layoffs at the Baltimore Sun. Also some pretty obvious David Simon viewpoints in there.

I don't think I've seen enough of the season to say if it's good or bad. Hoping it gets better, especially on the media front, though.

For some reason, SoapNet is showing the entirety of Veronica Mars on a loop, and it restarts tomorrow. I'm not sure why, because it isn't a soap opera, but I'll take it.

But I have been watching Angel because why not finish dat Buffyverse. Finished season 4 of 5 yesterday. Surprisingly, the plot arches are a lot better than in Buffy, but the characters and scenarios aren't as likeable. It also relates to me less, because it's about adulthood while Buffy is about adolescence.

Finished The Wire at long last. Idk, I started it at least six months ago?

In the immortal word of Clay Davis: SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT

Yup, season five is easily the weakest. Then again, considering the first four seasons are some of the finest television ever made, and season four is up there with the all-time greats... Well, I guess a weak season by those standards is still a good season when compared to much of what else gets aired nowadays.

I think the thing that's missing from season five is how the media (the theme of the season) ties into the central theme of The Wire, which is simply how the "war on drugs" affects other facets of our society. I get the media is involved in the war on drugs as well, but much of season five steered pretty clear of that, only approaching that theme through tangents that dealt with the homeless people of Baltimore. Much of the rest, as others have said, comes off as a personal screed against the Baltimore Sun. It is fairly obvious that there is a David Simon self-insert in there too bashing the newspaper industry, which does not help matters.

Also, I don't give a single fuck about *any* of the writers. None of them clicked with me in any way, but I could easily go back to the other four seasons and find characters I could come to like, or even hate for that matter. They're just... there, which is the most damning thing you can say about any work.

I guess season five is worth watching, if only to see how the Marlo saga is resolved and what happens to the characters you've come to like/hate over four seasons. For the media part of it all? Fuck that shit.

As for my next live action show, idk what to watch. Had Breaking Bad on my queue, but I'm not marathoning it to get in before season five. I don't care that much, unlike with Mad Men. Had Firefly on it too, and that's nice and short compared to The Wire and Mad Men, so might go that route/watch Serenity afterwards too.

I watched the very first season of Breaking Bad a couple weeks ago, and it was pretty good. Sometime I'll get around to watching the second. I'll marathon the show if I feel like it, but I don't feel like I need to catch up all the way before season five starts.

Finished season 2 of Battlestar Galactica, and also watched the "optional" webisodes that took place between seasons 2 and 3. Still love the show. However, it looks like this season will be quite different. Don't know if it's for better or worse yet, but it's certainly going to be interesting.

Finished Angel, and kind of gave up on The Killing. It had gotten super dull and drudgy; then my DVR somehow missed an episode, and I don't care enough to go on recon for it. I'll probably just finish it when Netflix gets season 2 online.

So that leaves me with two shows. Veronica Mars with my oldest sister, because Kristen Bell is a badass, and Supernatural with my youngest sister because she demanded that we watch something and there weren't that many series left that I wanted to watch on Netflix that should would be okay with.

I would bash Supernatural because its obviously based on Buffy/Angel, but it does a few things. One, it seems to know that, since several people from the Buffyverse guest star on Supernatural. Two, it has an entirely different stylistic approach, going for a darker, and more horror-driven rather than merely using horror elements. Three, I give them props for changing the mythology. Buffy completely made up all of its monsters, even though a few were loosely based on things. Supernatural, as far as I know, uses entirely existing myths. It's not that big of a difference, but it makes it feel different.

I've made it through the first season of Buffy. I love it. I didn't know Alyson Hannigan was in it, but when I saw her in the opening credits, I was like "OMAGAWD YES".

Back the fuck off, she's mine. I don't care that she's married and just had a baby.

Huh, came to post here and realized it's been a month since my last post, which was about the season 3 finale of BSG, and now I just finished the fourth (last) season. Anyways, you should all watch it now, even if you're not into sci-fi.

I have been watching The IT Crowd on netflix streaming.. it's hilarious! Although sadly the entire series is only 24 episodes. Great stuff, though!

OH! And I watched the first two episodes of Game of Thrones because my sister has HBO at her house. It might be a mistake to watch the show before I start the book, but there was nothing else on tv.
