EDIT: Sad edit; apparently hackers have managed to create a thing to make Pokemon with any stats like fourth gen again. Haven't looked into details, but if it's true, breeding and shinys lose all value. Again. =[

This is all I've found on the hacking topic. Even if people can (eventually?) make their own Pokemon with some program, I don't give a fuck as long as they're legal Pokemon. Someone else's discoveries/ways of playing don't affect my enjoyment of the game.

Finally beat the Elite Four (if any of you are curious about my third Friend Safari poke now's the time to find out - I don't know myself) and went straight to pick up my PokeRadar. A few hours, several restarts, and too many dashed hopes to count later, I chained 40 Carnivine kills and ran around for 15 minutes resetting the PokeRadar and spraying 32 Max Repels (32*700 = $22,400, not a bad price) to pick up my first chained shiny - Carnivine. It's on Route 14 with people like Goomy, Quagsire, and Weepinbell - all of which I adore - and a few other good ones like Haunter/Skorupi - and a few ehhhhhhhs Shelmet/Karrablast so I may go back there. I just like the thrill of chasing the shiny, don't really care what it ends up being.

EDIT: To elaborate on how to do this; connect to the internet and then use the PSS screen to go to Game Sync. Go to www.pokemon-gl.com and register there. It'll give you instructions from there. Click "Game Sync" on your 3DS every time you want it to sync and you can see any photos you save. You can also buy Heart Scales from it.

So I've been grinding the Battle Maison recently to get some items/TMs and stuff. Earlier, I was on Round 39 of the Super Singles and came across a rather, um, legendary battle.

My Maison team is Gardevoir/Talonflame/M-Aggron. I open with Gardevoir and I'm usually capable of cleaning house with just it; otherwise, Talonflame is fully capable of one shotting every sweeper in the game and M-Aggron can win 1v1s with tanks.

In this battle, my enemy opened with Glaceon into my Gardevoir. Bullshit started early when he opened with Blizzard and I flinched. Yes, I flinched. No matter, next turn I'll be able to Toxic it and just Calm Mind up, it did hardly any damage.

And then Blizzard froze me.

Well this was frustrating. I didn't really want to swap in Aggron as it'd be wasted damage considering Gardevoir wasn't going to be any use until it thawed out, so I just spammed Toxics until I thawed. Fortunately, I thawed out two turns later and use Toxic. Unfortunately, Toxic missed.

I manage to get off one Moonblast and do about 60% (I was spamming Toxics so I could safely just Calm Mind/Protect over and over) before finally dying. I swapped in Aggron and obliterated it with Iron Head straight up after setting up Stealth Rock; its Blizzard did about 20%. Yes, it hit with every single one. He swaps in Electivire and suddenly Focus Blasts me, nuking Aggron. Well shit, all I have left is a Choice Band Talonflame with no way to know his last Pokemon.

I Flare Blitz and kill Electivire no problem and his final Pokemon is... Bronzong. Phew! I might not one shot it, but it doesn't pack any moves that could possibly kill my 75% health Talonfl...

Bronzong's Quick Claw let it move first!

BRONZONG USED EXPLOSION!

Demanding context.

Also, Ghost is the most overpowered type in the entire game now. It's resisted by two types which are both quite uncommon. It's one of the only real types you can "spam" with and not be taken out for it. I forsee Tyranitar/Umbreon rising in usage from Ghost being prominent alone.

We do a Wonder Battle and he opens Golem vs. my level 1 Ralts (and all they ever know is Growl). He starts with Stealth Rock and so I'm like "k time to switch because these Wonder Battles call for a fuckton of switching and SR will bone me". So my team looks like:

Ralts
Kabuto
Volbeat
Snorunt
Gulpin
Durant

Durant is, like, literally the only good one on the team - Snorunt knows Ice Fang but other than that it's a bunch of crap. So I switch into Durant - it's one of the wild ones someone probably caught and immediately traded, so it's got Crunch/Dig/Entrainment/Iron Head. Then I Iron Head Golem and it takes a good bit of damage (Hustle Durant) so he switches. Durant is probably on ~40 HP at this point and if he dies I'm dead.

Then Durant kills the first guy. Taken to 26 HP he downs the second. Pwner starts saying he's a dead man but being my only guy with actual moves I'm trying to clear out as much as I can with Durant before having to deal with his other guys. This is where I say "There's no way I can do this all with Durant, if I win with Durant 1v6ing your team I'll give you a level 100 Durant."

And a short while later I went to the E4 to start training a Durant to level 100.

Smogon have released the statistics for October's usage rates online.

Not a huge pile is shown here besides "new toy" syndrome, but Tyranitar and Ferrothorn are still able to dominate games pretty handily. Aegislash and Talonflame are becoming huge issues for teams that don't have an answer to them as well. My prediction of "bulky offense" might have been wrong but we can't really be sure yet.

EDIT: After rigorous testing and many calculations, I have discovered that Scolipede is a mother fucking child rapist
