That's really lame. Shinies are supposed to be rare and hard to get, it's really lame to just hack that shit.

Value, shmalue. Who cares? Obviously that one asshole on wi-fi with six shinies possibly used some sort of exploit/program (it's not a hack, Paal), which sucks but doesn't really affect you, used the Masuda method, which probably still takes fucking forever, or chained and thus probably doesn't have 5-6 perfect IVs.

I have all of one shiny. It's probably going to be my first and last shiny this gen unless I decide to chain for funsies. Will I care if they become more prevalent? Not at all; I don't even think about how people got theirs or what they do with them. I know I caught mine legit, that's all I need to care about.

My philosophy on hacked shinies (or shinies that come about as a result of this program, I guess) is the same as on hacked Pokemon in general because there is little to no gameplay difference between them. That being, I don't care as long as it's legal.

I'm sure at least Marill and Olinea already know this stuff (wouldn't be surprised to see Andami does too, since he plans to raise a competitive team), but just leaving this here for reference.

I feel dumb that I didn't even think about hordes. I've been debating myself the past day over whether or not Super Training or the old-fashioned way was faster.

Problem is that the power items cost more BP than I care to spend, considering the multitude of TMs and items like Red Card, Choice items, Focus Sash (for F.E.A.R), bunch of other stuff. Super Training is fun for me and since the game bleeds money after a certain point I can go for vitamins I think. If I'm overflowing with BP, yeah... until then it's a commodity I'd prefer to spend elsewhere.

EDIT: Unrelated note, but WOO 6IV LITWICK! First 6IV, and finally something to replace Scolipede for Flash Fire blocks.

That's awesome! I've only got one 6IV Poke which is my Gardevoir... with Synchronize. Oh well.

Horde Battles are ridiculously quick. For stuff like Defence, you go into Route 19 and have a chance of either finding Geodude or Durant; 1EV and 2EV respectively. Three battles of Durant and you're done, five and one super training for Geodude. It's pretty awesome stuff.

I got the Power items also for early breeding steps. More consistent than Destiny Knot.

EDIT: I'm Satan.

EDIT2: Might add Scizor over Garchomp to hit the Magic Guarders, idk.

I plan to get the power items, then the TMs, then evolution items, then everything else. But yeah, I can understand not wanting to go through the hassle of getting shit at the Battle Maison; I don't look forward to it myself. Didn't think of vitamins, but I forget those exist half the time. Those might certainly speed the process up.

Having finally bred a 5IV Togepi I'm now still on the fence about the setup I need to run on it. It packs Serene Grace and Hidden Power Dragon (urgh).

Togekiss is a superb Paraflincher, since it can cripple something with Thunder Wave and Air Slash has a 60% flinch chance thanks to Serene Grace, then even if it doesn't flinch you take the 25% chance to be stopped by paralysis. Destruction.

But the set I'm planning really could use 5 moves. I need to choose from

Air Slash
Thunder Wave
Roost
Dazzling Gleam
Nasty Plot

Going off of Paraflinch Air Slash and Thunder Wave are locked in, which would leave

Roost
Dazzling Gleam
Nasty Plot

Roost is good staying power and removes a flying type - pure Fairy is a superb defensive type. My issue is that using Roost basically frees up the opponent to not have to deal with flinching on that turn and I don't think Togekiss can win a war defensively.

Dazzling Gleam is a solid Fairy-type move - 80 base power + STAB, and it's good to have more coverage since Flying can be limited at times. It doesn't cause flinching so it'd be used against stuff that Fairy tears through, or as a finisher since it's 100% accurate and therefore riskless.

Nasty Plot, Special Atk. version of Swords Dance, is something I think I'd need to get better with, but the rewards would be pretty damn noticeable - if I can get the switch on a Dragon or something, Plot up, Togekiss is looking good and can chow down. The issue here is that if I force a switch it may be better to just throw Thunder Wave on whatever they're switching into (assuming it's not Electric, Ground, or has Limber) and get to paraflinching right off the bat. It's high-risk, high reward, certainly, and the reward is tantalizing.

Advice on picking two of the three?

I actually don't like the ParaFlinch set cuz Togekiss is so slow and the abundance of Garchomp/Rotom-Wash currently in the game. T-Wave is only one slot, though, so it's not all that bad.

It is as its core a stall set so I would say go Roost/Dazzling Gleam. Nasty Plot isn't so good because you're not going to get a chance to set up on anything as you lack Toxic immunity against tanks and stuff like Garchomp is immune to Thunder Wave. Dazzling Gleam gives you the much needed coverage to (I think?) OHKO Garhomp and the only other Dragon you need to worry about is Dragonite who tends to only pack Fire Punch has his strongest move that can hit you anyway.

The only other real threat is Gliscor and you need Nasty Plot to take care of that, but you can break Subs at least. Excadrill's got a really strong defensive typing against you but I feel it's actually really bad this gen so giving it a free Swords Dance on the switch outside of sand isn't really too huge a problem.

So we've managed to find out how the crit mechanics work in this game.

Essentially, there are four "stages" of crit likelihood.

1. 6.25%
2. 12.5%
3. 50%
4. 100%

Something like Slash would raise it by 1, making the crit chance 12.5%. Equipping a Scope Lens makes this 50%.

Focus Energy raises this by TWO STAGES.

Yeah. Focus Energy and a Scope Lens is 100% crit chance.

Thankfully Crits got nerfed to 150% damage but EVEN STILL. It's insane.

Fed up of the notifications for "Battle Spot is where trainers confident in their ability hang out!" and feeling a bit tired of chaining (40 ALTARIAS KILLED AND THE CHAIN BREAKS) I headed there with my team of IV/EV'ed people:

Rotom-W
Klefki
Chandelure
Togekiss
Forretress
Lucario

Overall record was 2-3, which is fine considering I'm still not very good and I didn't know it was 3v3 so people like Forretress and Rotom-W weren't going to be included as a result. SwagKey disappointed in the early stages. I learned I need to re-EV my Togekiss because it is dreadfully slow and really was dead weight except once against an Aegislash where I kept Nasty Plotting on his King's Shields and his Sacred Swords (lol) barely made a dent.

4 battles in, it was late, and I'd just lost on a 50-50 shot vs. Wobbuffett where I had to choose between Swords Dance (which would kill me if he Encored) or Bullet Punch (which would kill me if he Countered). Decided not to end it on a loss, and queued up. I get matched with Lars of Germany. Team preview tells me he'll be picking three of:

Xerneas
Yveltal
Mewtwo
Zygarde
Charizard
Gengar

Right away I'm like "well this is the only guy who's used anything Legendary/Uber" (aside from a Mega Blaziken which Chandelure dumpstered) and I decide I need to teach him a lesson. I take:

Klefki
Chandelure
Lucario

Battle starts. I lead Klefki. "Go! Mewtu!" the screen says. It's unsurprising, given that it's, you know, Mewtwo. Queue Swagger.

Turn 1: Immediately Mewtwo Mega Evolves into MEGA MEWTWO Y. Well, now the stakes are even higher. Shame it isn't X, because the attack stat will help. Prankster gives Swagger priority and I cross my fingers. MEGA MEWTWO Y self-hits (YES). Things are looking good.

Turn 2: I Substitute and he fights through confusion to Psychic it down. Alright. It'll snap out soon, let's close the book on it. Queue Foul Play.

Turn 3: He's still confused, self-hits to bring him to half. Foul Play blasts through his remaining health with the type advantage and a crit. Klefki's just soloed his MEGA POKEMON. Looking good. He throws out Yveltal. Foul Play won't be as reliable, unfortunately.

Turn 4: Swagger up. Unfortunately it doesn't work and he... Oblivion Wings? I figure it's a Dark move, and it deals roughly 30% of my health. Wasted your move, brah. Your luck isn't lasting long.

Turn 5: Thunder Wave. Not a huge difference because he self-hits. Booyah. This thing's crippled. Time to see what Foul Play can do.

Turn 6: It's not very good but it beats waiting for him to kill himself. He snaps out of confusion (ohhhhh shit), but paralysis works its magic and he's frozen.

Turn 7: Re-apply Swagger. No self-hit, but paralysis is working overtime. We're set up again, time to strike.

Turn 8: Probably could've predicted the frustration coming because he switches to Zygarde to tank Foul Play. Alright damage but it'd be better with a Swagger on it.

Turn 9: Swagger. Zygarde doesn't self-hit but Crunches (lol). Klefki's on about 60/160 health. Enough for a Substitute, since Zygarde can't be T-Waved.

Turn 10: Substitute. Self-hit. Good turn. We're as set up as we're gonna be. Queue Foul Play.

Turn 11: Without Prankster working he Earthquakes successfully to break sub. Foul Play takes him to mid-red. I don't have health for another Substitute and while he could break confusion next turn, I don't want to risk raising his Attack to stupidly high levels and throw it all away. If he self-hits, Foul Play will waste him.

Turn 12: Zygarde breaks out of confusion for an Earthquake. Shit. Klefki's down. But his job is done, as now I've got Lucario and Chandelure against a 10% HP Zygarde and a half-health Paralyzed Yveltal. Time to seal the deal.

Turn 13: Meet my MEGA LUCARIO. And his Bullet Punch. You may have a +2 on attack and an Earthquake, but priority means it's moot. Zygarde falls.

Turn 14: Yveltal returns, health still at half, still crippled by Thunder Wave. I take a moment to relish in his wings moving ever so slowly. Close Combat for the win means I can finally go to bed.

It's the only time SwagKey worked effectively last night and I'm glad it was against legendaries. I'm not going back to the Battle Spot for a while, or at least not at night when I get matched with Japanese players on nearly every fight. It's a scary place.
