Geebus, the Gust Bellows is so fucking OP/cheap. It's literally grab item > blow opponent off ledge > blow opponent while they recover > dead. Also when full game comes, I want a match, nothing but Gust Bellows being thrown around going crazy. |

I'd heard that item is the most OP shit ever but Beetle seems insane. It's an instant KO or something. |

I think you can escape the beetle, but I haven't seen it a whole lot so I'm not entirely sure. |

Is beetle the one gun you need the pieces to? If so it's not completely an instant ko and it's hard to get a shot in sometimes and it'll be much harder on complex stages. I haven't used the gust bellows yet, but the ai has used it on me and it is pretty unstoppable considering the level three ai almost killed me with it. |

I've yet to come across that either then. Makes sense that I didn't know what it is since I haven't played skyward sword yet sadly. Probably will pick it up one I get financial aid back |

I'm fine with Clones if they offer a different type of playstyle but I've seen reports that the clones this time round are literally identical besides one or two damage changes, like Lucina is exactly the same as Marth but has no tipper and more damage in general - unlike Roy who was quite clearly slower but more powerful. I really hope this isn't true because if it is the case then I don't see the argument for having them at all. |

http://threepanelsoul.com/2014/09/15/smash-bros/ Relevant. Apparently, the demo releasing on Friday has limited amounts of plays... not sure what's all about but it'll suck if it's true. |

Just like every other 3DS demo. It's stupid, but I usually play a demo once or twice and then never again, so meh. |

Isn't the amount of plays something like 30? I'm sure 30 sessions will last you until November. |

Everyone's gonna buy it anyway. I hear you can play it as much as you want after you buy it. |

Just got the demo today and it's great. It takes a number of games to get used to playing on a 3DS - need to turn tap jump off with no c-stick - but I'm really, really enjoying it. It feels great and like I was in total control basically at all times. I was very concerned about recovery and survival from watching streams in that characters survive to 130% and above but I didn't find that to be an issue when playing. It makes off-stage play much more important and, I dunno, I didn't even notice the fact that people were so hard to kill. That said, accidental suicides are now WAY more punishing because it takes so long to kill people. Thoughts on the characters. Mario - Mario's been a huge favourite since Melee and I think he feels really good here. He's definitely the most combo-y of the five and his tilts all work well. I still prefer Project M's version and I dislike how much lag using Fireball gives you but I feel Mario's definitely strong. Link - Oh Jesus, Link seemed really OP. His combos wrote themselves and his aerial game was ridiculous. He's got a spike on his Dair and DTilt and his projectiles give him so much stage control. Best iteration of Link for sure. Pikachu - I've never been a huge fan of Pikachu but he seemed better this time around, again. His Brawl Bair seems actually relevant now but I still didn't like his ground game and, unfortunately, his aerials all have noticeable landing lag. Link and Mario felt fluid and mobile but Pikachu felt unresponsive on-stage but fantastically fun off-stage. Mega Man - OH BOY IT'S-A not that fun? Idk, Mega Man just felt weird, probably due to him having several non-traditional moves in places (Nair is a laser, FTilt is a laser, Dair is a projectile) so I felt like I was lacking coverage. I really wanted to enjoy him and I'm kinda disappointed by him. Villager - Villager's stupid and I've thought so since the second he was announced and continued thinking it for every video I saw of him and oh my God Villager is so fun. He just so quirky and dumb and his aerials all feel really good and you plant a fucking tree and wow, Villager is so much fun to play. |

I played a match with each of the characters earlier today and my god it is uncomfortable to play on the 3DS. I haven't played Smash in ages and this just contributed to my confusion, but it was cool nonetheless. I am now 110% sure I will not buy the 3DS version :P Will definitely have to try playing a little bit more, though. |

Obv got dat demo today, too. I'm not uncomfortable playing on the 3DS. The circle pad isn't as good as an analog stick obviously, but it works well enough. I was kinda worried it would be awkward or unresponsive or something along those lines, based on these posts. If I have any control gripe, it's that holding the 3DS so I can hit R easily for shield/dodges is a little awkward, but this is probably something I'll grow accustomed to as I play. My biggest gripe is the screen size. I suppose on a 3DS XL, I would have more real estate, but on a regular 3DS, it can feel a bit too small sometimes, though this is mostly when there's a lot of action going on in a relatively cramped space. I've lost track of my character a time or two, though it's nothing major. As I play, I'll probably get more used to it. I kinda want the Persona Q 3DS, but I don't want it just so I have a better experience with one game. That and I might as well hold out for the New 3DS if I were to upgrade. So far I'm not really feeling comfortable with anyone but Pikachu, but I guess this is kind of expected when Pikachu is who I've used in pretty much all of my Smash time. I grew comfortable with him in 64 and never really put in the effort to learn anyone else. I have two weeks until the game drops and 28 demo uses, so might as well turn all but one NPC fighter off, put them on level 1, and do some pseudo-practice mode. Maybe it'll help me adjust to these characters. I wish there were more time/stock settings than just two minute matches. I can't see how that would have been too hard to implement for a demo, even if the settings were fairly basic, like 1-5 stock and/or 1-5 minutes. *shrug* The item frequency feels like a bit much, but you don't see the truly OP stuff like hammers, master balls, and smash balls every match. Maybe you would if matches were >2 minutes, idk. Outside of that, it feels like typical Smash. To me, this is a good thing. I wouldn't notice mechanical differences like Marill, and to be frank I wouldn't care. It looks good, sounds good, handles well, and has a good roster, which is what I ask for from Smash. If that 11/21 date is real for the US/EU, I'm tempted to just hold out until then. I feel like the Wii U version will be superior, though I suppose the 3DS will probably have a more vibrant online community due to a larger install base. It's also two more months of practice with characters I'll want to learn, and I can do that soundtrack offer. Even so, I'm still undecided at the moment. |

The more I've played it, the less I've hated the controls, but they still feel very meh compared to gamecube controller and what I can imagine the gamepad and pro controller will feel like. I'd put it better than the Wiimote, but I hate the Wiimote. I just can't play it properly without feeling like I'm doing to much, especially after seeing how many people have broke their circle pad. Villager gets better once you toy around with him, he's just so different compared to the other fighters. I feel like I'll have a better time with him on the Wii U, same with Pikachu, or at least on the 3ds if I can change the controls. |
