Lol, scratch that. Earliest it was in stock was the 17th. Going downtown on Monday to see if they have it at the record store or GameStop...or that other video game store.
Hoping the price is good.

Damnit Nintendo, why does your shit have to be so popular?

So Sm4sh is fun. But man, I am quite bad. When you lose 5-stock 1v1 against lvl 9 bots... =/

I feel like I'm too slow, but I've only played it for two days so far.

So far my favourites are Lucina and Charizard. I also think Robin is pretty interesting, but I haven't really played too much with him, and I feel he needs more practice. King Dedede is also sweet (I love his new side-b), and the lvl 9 bot absolutely recks me. He's so fast, but when I play as him I just flail and die.

Looking forward to game more of Sm4sh, and I'm simply really happy with it so far. :D
And if anyone wants to game that'd probably be great (fuck off Jonty, I don't want to get roflstomped ;_;).

I think that generally learning against Level 9 bots isn't good cuz they do things that humans don't... do. They play entirely reactionary rather than making reads so they perfect shield everything or whatever else.

Haven't really spoken in this thread for a while so I'll give some more thoughts on the game as a whole.

Fuuuuck shielding in this game. I don't honestly feel rolls are too strong or whatever but throwing out random shields/dash to shield is just so strong because shields regenerate instantly and there's hardly any shield stun so nothing is safe on shield. It's no surprise that Diddy Kong, Luigi and Zero Suit are top tier as they're like the only characters in the game with good grab options.

I've found pretty much every single game mode to be dull as hell outside of the main ones and 8 Player Smash (with friends). Smash Tour is awful, new Classic is chaos, All Star is stupidly easy even on the hard difficulties (unless you get caught in between three people in which case gg wp), Master Orders is bullshit and Target Blast straight up sucks. Crazy Orders is the only fun game mode and it is genuinely really good but I hate how the stages seem random. All this makes collecting custom moves/equipment even more nightmarish than it has to be and you can ALSO get repeats of the same custom moves! Argh. I don't get why a multiplayer game has to be played single player to unlock stuff.

Sm4sh is definitely the best casual Smash ever, though. There's a million and one options for ways to play and it's easier than ever to survive and stuff. New ledge mechanics, crazy strong recoveries, shielding being super strong makes people live to crazy percentages more often and it's generally harder to suicide as well. The game controls very naturally and has a nice buffer so all the inputs tie together well. I feel like my friends have had an easier time picking up this game than any other game in the series and while some of the depth is sacrificed as a cost, it's probably worth it in the end. I still would have heavily appreciated some nerfs to defensive options in general but mish.

In terms of stages, I've found the new ones to be generally really good. I feel there's a few stages that just have too much going on (Pyrosphere, Orbital Gate Assault) and I feel like I'm fighting the stage rather than my opponents but a lot of the stages strike a fine balance between chaos and normality. Stages like Kalos, Gaur Plain and Yoshi's Woolly World stand out here as being really fun stages for casual play. The selection of stages brought back is generally fantastic - Norfair, Lylat Cruise and Castle Siege are all top tier stages - but it is kinda sad that 75m is back and stuff like Spear Pillar isn't.

I guess Sm4sh just doesn't feel very new, though. I'm not sure if it's because I've grown up or if it's because it lifted so many assets from Brawl but everything feels very familiar. I've seen all these animations before, I've seen a lot of the stages before, I've heard a lot of these songs before (some of the new remixes are of songs that are in the game multiple times!) and the new game modes leave a lot to be desired when we had Subspace before. The only thing for me that keeps it above Melee/Project M is the fact it has working online and that it's by far the best game to play whenever friends come round. Seriously, 8 player Smash on New Years was the most fun I think I've ever had.

Something I didn't like was that there is no more of the traditional classic and adventure modes, which I think are pretty fun to play through and try to get highscores in.

I haven't actually played online yet, but I will probably give it a go later on. But I still feel like I want to practice some more.

And yeah...fuck Orbital Gate Assault. >_>

Orbital Gate Assault is cool but I cannot tell you have many times I have died just by jumping at the wrong time because the ships keep flying away or something. ugh

Yeah, Volt said to me at one point that she felt like Classic is the kinda thing you would see if you walked into an Arcade and there was a Smash cabinet there. The new Classic just forces huge battles on you repeatedly to earn the best rewards and the item balance is so out of whack that a lot of games can feel like completely randomness.
