so...did you just continue the game we started without me? if you had asked me to play, I would have.
No, you're the one who saved it. Can't continue it without you. I just took screencaps with Fraps while we were playing.

I think that, sometimes, wars are a way for another civ to gauge your strength. If you can withstand their assault, it's like they want to be bffs and often stay that way.

Also wut civ is that. Those units look like Scouts with ranged attack to me, which would be pretty sweet, especially if they can be upgraded to Composite Bowmen.

Oh, it's the Inuit civilization mod, got released a few days ago. It's interesting because it has a snow start bias which is total shit in the early game due to lack of hammers and food, but they have a strong UU and the UA is a big mixture of good stuff. Haven't progressed to mid / lategame where I can see the culture go wild (Think I'm going to attempt a culture victory) but early game was rough, at one point I had a ruins give me +1 pop which was going to starve immediately so I switched production to a Settler to avoid starvation and bought me time to get Landed Elite. My start doesn't have as much snow as I'd have thought but so far as long as Genghis doesn't breathe down my neck I think I'll be pretty smooth sailing.

That does seem like a pretty interesting civ. I'll have to pick them up and try them myself. Normally there's no reason to settle in snow and very little reason to settle near tundra, so this will be a nice change of pace.

If you can get Dance of the Aurora, which should be easily done in nearly all games, that would make your snow/tundra tiles very powerful.

And yeah, this is obviously a cultural civ. I'd prolly play my usual Tradition because you need all the food you can get, but Liberty might be viable because nobody else is really going to want the snow/tundra.

Yeah, I picked DotA for the pantheon. I do have a large bit of tundra nearby but not a lot of snow, maybe they'd be better on a larger map. My settler went over to land with jungle and stuff which I feel isn't giving me the Inuit experience but it'd feel like cheating to play the map setting of pure snow and laugh at everyone else.

Civ 5 and the DLCs are on sale for 75% off until 8/24. Complete edition is for 67% off.

For those interested but not sure what to pick up, Civ 5 is the base game (obviously) and the next expansion released was Gods and Kings, followed by Brave New World. BNW contains all of the updates that were in GNK, so if you're only going to get one pick up BNW. There are some scattered DLCs, civs like the Inca, Polynesia, Babylon, Korea, and Denmark which aren't included in any of the expansions, and then map packs and whatnot as well.

Probably want to pick up GNK and Denmark as a birthday treat. After that I don't think any more DLC is totally necessary, the only ones that really have an impact on the game being wonders.

Couple of screenies from my Inuit game. They are a pretty fun civ, but the start is even slower than a jungle start... Or maybe I just played it wrong idk.

1148 CPT. Most culture games, I'm lucky to break 500 CPT at any point in the game, but World's Fair normally passes a lot earlier. I lost the first Arts Funding vote because Washington is a fucking asshole, which set the proposal of World's Fair back 25 turns. On the bright side, that meant I could build even more culture up.

Also notice the Inuit living in not-Inuit places. You can't see my capital because the culture stuff is in the way, but it's only size 23, which is pathetic. There was no tundra, no fresh water, and only one land route to it, which meant no farms and food issues until I got Biology. Because everything in this game was slow, that was like T230 or something.

Still, a T336 culture win with a snow bias civ is not bad at all.

Now that everyone has at least the base game and the expansions, I'd like to play a multiplayer game sometime soon-ish. I'm thinking maybe next week, but I guess that depends on you guys.

I shall purchase BNW very soonish, and just wanted to say, I will not be playing video games during the week anymore. Only weekends. I may game some Mario kart here and there because races in MK8 take like 4 minutes each, but Dota and Civ are out of the question. playing those games eats up so much time that would be better spent doing school work or exercising/playing basketball. also because I am a lazy asshole with absolutely no self control

But yeah, if I get BNW before sunday night, I'd be down to start a game and then finish it next weekend

I got shit to do this Saturday, so idk if I'd be up to starting a game then. It'd probably depend on what happens/how drunk I am. I don't even know the plan yet. Sunday is a possibility.

I can't blame you for only wanting to play games like these on weekends. They do eat a massive amount of time.

Finally finished my first run on King. After a very generous soul bought GNK for me I decided to try out the Mayans, who I'd wanted to play for a while (I'm a sucker for the ancient civs that no longer exist, and I hear the UA is pretty damn good). Took screencaps with Fraps and decided to make an album after it was all over.

I'd like to point out defensive pacts are fucking useless. They might be useful if you're making one with an immediate neighbor of a civ you fear might go to war with you (in this case, Attila), but beyond that they're pretty useless because AIs that are too far away won't help much/if at all. There's also the possibility of awkwardly DoWing a friend, putting your diplo in the shitter, probably for the rest of the game.

And even though you beeline Theology, that doesn't mean "ignore every tech not on the way there", ESPECIALLY with asshole Attila as a neighbor.

EDIT: I'm a derp and forgot you built some Atlatlists. I'm surprised that 3-4 didn't put him off war. That works for most civs on King, but Attila just spams and spams units and thus you might need even more.

Also >Piety
