Ant-Man Spoilers

I thought Darren Cross was a better villain than most Marvel villains, mostly because Corey Stoll acted the shit out of it and his motives were well explained enough.

Michael Pena slayed it.

Also I'd like to apologize for all the mistakes in my last post. I wrote it as my phone battery was dying, struggling with autocorrect and small keys. I'll fix it when i can get to an actual computer, but lately that's been a rare chance for me.

A friend let me borrow his copy of Civil War, and I was pretty disappointed. The first issue has some discussion about the pros and cons of mandatory superhero registration, but the last six issues are almost completely devoid of that. It's mostly fighting and two betrayals of characters (one on each side) that had no other purpose or dialogue throughout the entire event, so I didn't care about them. I think the movie will be better because it has fewer characters. The comic probably had most of the Earth-based American heroes that anyone cares about, and then some. It felt like a cameo party. The movie, however, "only" has the MCU characters, and not even all of them. On top of all that, the characters all seemed extremely impulsive. I don't know if I missed a lead-in to Civil War, but it seemed like the registration act really blindsided a lot of the heroes, while others seemed like they knew about it for a while (mainly Tony). And their first reaction to hearing about it is immediately fighting everyone who opposes it. I know, superheroes, but they could've talked about it more than they did. I'm confident in the movie because I've enjoyed every MCU movie, but I really hope there's some build-up to the conflict at the beginning of the movie. But suddenly I'm seeing it beginning in media res with Tony/Steve beating each other up and one of them having an advantage that will be taken away from them as soon as we actually get back up to that point in the movie two-thirds of the way in.

I think that was the general attitude about Civil War: it could've been a lot better. There was a prelude, and a bunch of sidebooks, some of which I heard are much better. Like, apparently the Spider-Man one is phenomenal.

So how about those F4 reviews? I went ahead and read spoilers and wow. Aside from the inconsistency of Mara and Teller's magically changing hair it seems like thenmovie honestly was a quick cash grab for the rights. Sexist, boring, and lacking of a plot. Plus it's an hour and a half movie which takes two thirds of it for them to get their powers, which is somehow the worst part.

It went from an already low projection of about 45 mil to a now upper 20 mil, plus the reviews are going to kill any chance of legs.

Fox is trying to make a deal with Marvel for tv rights of the Xmen. At this point it would be smart for them to just give Marvel the rights. Marvel might not be able to do anything with F4 for a while now that they've been completely tarnished for movie goers, but the other characters will be welcome

If y'all are interested, a bunch of queer artists are doing a Kickstarter for a superhero comic anthology called Oath Anthology of New Heroes. Always about supporting them queer artists, so I'm in. =p

Kevin Feige no longer reports to Ike Perlmutter and no longer has the creative committee to deal with. Which means no more Quaseda or Bendis. Which from what I've read the Ike is the reasons for their low pay, replacement of Terrence Howard, lack of Black Widow merchandise among other things. The committee is one of the main reasons Edgar Wrighr left because they worked too slowly.

All for the better imo. Now we can give the power to the person who actually had ideas and ambitions and maybe we'll see new projects

I'm hoping it happens. They've had a actor script since Phase 1 and Feige has tons of interest in it. I can imagine Ike was the problem. He didn't want a female movie, let alone a female teenage ensemble movie

Tho the script was written by Iron Man 3's writer. Not sure how I feel about that.

Also, it'll never happen, but it'd be super awesome if Xavin is played by a nonbinary actor.

Can you talk about the tantalizing fireside photo that you guys put out. Does this mean it will be a very hypersexualized Deadpool?

Miller: Pansexual! I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool.

Reynolds: There is some sexuality in this movie for sure. You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, “This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?” But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything. They were here yesterday, they were thrilled, they saw some cut footage and so far so good. We did a photo shoot for an entire day of just different, completely insane things that Deadpool is doing and there’s a lot more to come. They’ll be slowly released.
