*"Do you bleed?"

I understand Batman wanting to take down Superman. That's totally in character (especially since this Batman is experienced), since Batman ALWAYS has contingencies for when things go bad. And Superman just took out a city fighting Zod. Of course people are scared and think he's dangerous. Batman's paranoid and at this point, Superman is a threat. Obviously things'll work out in the end and hopefully we can get a happy Superman or something. But I don't think it's fair to say that Batman would automatically trust this alien god who he's never met right off the bat. That said, despite the fact that I will see this movie automatically, this trailer did not make me as excited for it as say, the Star Wars one did. It's better than the Avengers trailers (at this point, Marvel knows they'll print money, so their ads kinda suck), but I still don't feel as sold on it. I dunno, I guess I'm still wary, but I have more hope for this movie than most people seem to.

Also, dat Batfleck voice. Mmmmmmmmm.

I have no idea what to think about the new Joker image.

On the one hand, it looks pretty Joker-y and could work really well.

On the other hand, face tats.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/04/28/the-avengers-black-widow-problem-how-marvel-slut-shamed-their-most-badass-superheroine.html

So my problem with the lack of female leads in the MCU and this "slut and whore fiasco" is a big one.

First, Evans and Renners' comments. What they said was pretty fucked up. Although honestly, given the question they were responding too, you can tell that it was a over the top remark, not just a joke, but an entire exaggeration to the question. The question was about how the fandom has shipped her with all the marvel females, so they were saying "oh yeah she gets around with everybody, she's a big slut." The truth of this matter, is it isn't just a joke or sarcastic, it is over the top hit you over the head sarcastic to a ridiculous statement. It's not like they were calling the actress, or the movie character, or the comic character a slut. No, they were jokingly calling the character that the fandom has made her a slut. To make it worse, I'm pretty sure Stark gets called a slut all the time, except we're talking about the actual character here, yet nobody bats an eye. I just think it was taken beyond out of context and gotten way out of control. However, the comment about the prosthetic leg, should legitimately have people upset, yet, I'd say at least only half many people are upset about that, which that statement is actually harmful in that it insinuates a person with a prosthetic leg is undesirable, whereas the other a fictional version of a fictional character was sarcastically called a slut for sleeping with hundreds of people.

However, despite that semi long rant, I mainly wanted to bring up the lack of a solo Black Widow movie. I hate seeing complaints about there not being a solo Black Widow movie and then the reasoning is blamed on sexism. Sex definitely plays a part into why a female led superhero movie has not been made yet. Producers don't think it'll work because of previous efforts that failed, badly. However, those movies failed because they were terrible movies more than anything. So, yes, it would be nice to see more female led superhero movies, but at the same time, Marvel has a bigger problem. They can only release so many movies at a time, and on top of that, they really don't have many popular enough female characters to work with. So, if they're limited in female characters, then why not make a Black Widow movie? Well, it's because Black Widow isn't really a solo character, and on top of that they would have to sacrifice another movie in its favor. I'm not saying there aren't solo movies to be told with Black Widow, but honestly, she has always worked better working with other people. A Black Widow solo movie, for one, would have to take place before The Avengers, because she's been with the Avengers or with Cap between Avengers movies, and I don't see that changing much. Then there's the fact that honestly the budget would probably not be that big, which may sound like a good thing, but I think Marvel would much rather take a risk then just sit back on a sure thing. Why make a low budget action movie that is guaranteed to make money on an established character, when they can bring in a new, largely unknown character with a Sci-Fi plot that will be worthy of a blockbuster movie and also will be able to bring in more females to the roster of Avengers. Not instead, the non-sexist thing would be to make a Black Widow movie, so she and Scarlet Witch can continue being the only females in future Avengers movies. Finally it comes the point that her character doesn't really need a movie of her own, when she's been fleshed out almost as much as two Avengers, and has been fleshed out far more than two others. Literally only Iron Man has a true edge on her, but he has a edge on everyone in the universe that hasn't had a TV show. Yeah, we haven't had a Black Widow movie, but at least she's played a main part in three movies before AoU, including having more screen time in the first Avengers than everyone except Captain America and Iron Man, and being the female lead in Winter Soldier. Meanwhile Hawkeye has less than 14 minutes of screen time.

But the biggest problem is one that is Marvel's biggest problem, it doesn't have it best female characters. It is kinda hard for Marvel to have tons of great female characters when Rogue, Storm, Kitty Pride, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sue Storm are out of reach. After that, who are they really left with? Nobody any average moviegoer would know, and not many people with tons of back story. Now, Marvel does have a few up their sleeves, but the problem is that most of them would work better as a Netflix series like Jessica Jones and Dagger, are apart of a team and not Avengers like half the Runaways or members of the Inhuman royal family, or honestly can't come into play yet like Kamala Khan or a female Thor (which might not even work properly in the MCU all things considered). There are a few I left out, but that's because at the moment, we only have one movie currently to introduce them, and that's the cosmic female characters like Mantis, Phylla Vell, or Moondragon. So, I think more than anything it's the problem of how things are set up and rights issues more than anything, I mean we're lucky we're even getting Scarlet Witch.

But taking the fact that Marvel hasn't made a Black Widow movie and making it like they don't care about their female characters is taking it a bit far. Yes, there isn't a Black Widow movie, but there is a Captain Marvel movie coming, and there is a Jessica Jones show coming this year, and half of Agents of Shield is female cast, who make up the story more than the men do, especially Skye, who the shows' story is largely her more than anything. Then there is Karen Page, who doesn't have powers, but is still pretty badass so far. Jessica Jones is supposedly bringing in Hellcat. Ant-man, which was supposed to have been made ages ago, will finally have Wasp added to the mix. And Daredevil will surely add in Elektra at some point. So, the MCU will be far from lacking in female characters by the time Infinity Wars rolls around, and that's with Marvel lacking their five biggest female characters of a pre-Avengers world. If there is to be issue, then it should be about race if anything, where we currently only have two black sidekicks, a black guest star, three asians, and just now we having gotten a recurring Hispanic guest star, and only two new black characters on the way. Which again has to do with source material, but I'd say race is a bigger problem.

That said recent problems with Black Widow and Gamora merch? completely understandable. Black Widow would be one thing considering the lack of Hawkeye memorabilia, but the lack of Gamora merchandise is astonishing since she is always the sole Guardian that is left out. Pretty sad considering the second best arc of the movie was hers, only being beaten out by Star Lord's missing his mother arc.

Typing on my phone, so this'll probably be brief, but Avengers! Yay! Initial thoughts: Loved the twins, could really feel the love there; glad the characters without solo movies got more attention; Hawkeye had some great moments, so he finally feels like a character. Ultron was a fun villain. Idk much about the Vision but I hope he sticks around for a while, even though he has something that Thanos wants. My main complaints are: The action was relatively underwhelming, Tony acted like IM3 never happened, no development on the status of SHIELD (I think Whedon said it's like the movies and TV are practically different universes, as far as SHIELD is concerned), and Wanda changed her hair at the end. I preferred her original hair. Oh and the mid-credits scene was useless (unless I missed a hidden message), and not in a good way (Avengers 1 or GotG).

Between my fiance and I we got 17 free comics, 7 trade backs, 5 pins 2, light switch covers, 2 prints, and 4 t-shirts.

Alias Bill. 2 and 4
Black panther vol. 1 by Quesada
The last of us
Elektra vol 1 by ?
Marvel Divas
Mighty avengers vol. 3 or 4?

Carnage light switch cover and powerpuff girl cover

Cumberbatch Khan and Dumbledore art print.

Random comic buttons.

Deadpool Portal shirt
Thor shirt
Harry Potter 4th Doctor shirt
Day of the Doctor shirt

Alias, Black Panther, and the last of its are mine and we'll share the shorts. The buttons, light switch covers, and art print covers were all made by local artists. All together it was $93, $5 a tshirt, tradeback, light switch cover, $10 a print, and $3 for 5 buttons. Not bad imo, and I got an extra 7 comics out out it and five chikfila sandwiches. So it was a pretty good score

Damn. My store didn't have any deals I could see (really wtf) so I just picked up the three comics I was allowed (DC, Marvel, HipHop Family Tree), and then got the comics from this week I hadn't been able to pick up yet (Batman 40, Justice League 40, Convergence 4, Multiversity 2, Silk 3, Princess Leia 3). They were out of regular print Batman's so I had to pick up the variant edition which, while cool, was 10 bucks.

So season 2 of SHIELD was a helluva lot better than season 1. Would definitely recommend it to, well, anyone who reads this thread, I guess. I've had an exhausting day and don't feel like rambling on about the finale right now, but there was one thing (well, more of a pattern) that caught my attention:

I for one loved the movie. From what I understand, the pacing is a bit wonky because they cut about an hour and a half out of the final film, which might (should) get restored on the bluray release.

I thought it was great. It has its faults, but I can't think of a superhero movie I don't have faults with other the winter soldier (although others might find faults with it). I think people seem to think the first avengers is like the greatest superhero movie of all time or something, but really it was just the experience of what it accomplished that made it so great more than anything.

The extended edition should be awesome. Disney /marvel would be smart to do a limited two week theater run of it shortly before or after its release
