Role Play Actions When you are role playing a character in the SSV-Romulus VI, you will need to differentiate between your dialogue and action lines. To do this, your action lines must be enclosed by either asterisks (*) or hyphens (-), or, if your keyboard is as broken as mine is colons (:). It is recommended your action lines be stated in either first or third person narrative. Here are a few examples: Third Person: Username *He closes the door.* First Person: Username *I close the door.* All the above examples are valid, as for non-combat actions such as nodding, drinking etc. there is no minimum word requirement. However, all combat actions (including dodges), require a minimum of 5 words per line. Any combat action line that fails to meet this requirement will be considered void (invalid). Here is an example of a valid attack and impact combination: Username: *Swings a fist at Username's head.* Username: *Hits Username in the Jaw.* To perform a valid dodge on an opposing players’ attack, you must type your dodge action line before the opposing player makes impact. Here is an example of a valid dodge action line: Username1: *Swings a fist at Username2's head.* Username2: - I duck under Usernaem1's punch. – Username1: *Hits Username2 in the jaw.* In this scenario, in one combat action line, one player used more than 5 words. Although there is a five word minimum requirement for all combat action lines, there is no word limit. Feel free to challenge yourself to use as many words as possible in your action lines! Finally you are only allowed to perform one action per line. For example, the following combat action line would be deemed invalid by a Moderator: Username1: *Swings a punch at Username2 and hits him in the head.* Ranged Weaponry, the Do's and Don'ts As this is 2677, it goes without saying that there are a wide range of weaponry at the player's disposel. More infomation on these weapons can be found in the forum, but the overlying rules are exactly the same. The correct way to utalize a ranged weapon is as follows: The correct method for using ranged weponry on an opposing player is to perform 3 combat action lines. The final 2 lines must be uninterrupted. (1) Weapon draw, or if the weapon is already drawn, a statement of action, I.E :He would ready his rifle here: (2) Aiming at the opposing player (3) Pulling the trigger at the opposing player In lines 2 and 3, you must state the opposing players’ character name and body part that you are attempting to aim at. Without this, your attack will be deemed invalid by a Moderator. Here is an example of a valid shot at an opposing player: Username: -Username1 prepares his weapon- Username: -Username1 aims at Username2's head.- Username: -Username1 pulls the trigger at Username2's head.- To correctly dodge a ranged attack by an opposing player, you must type a valid dodge action line between the aiming and firing line. This action line must state taking cover and must be two uninterrupted lines of role play. HOWEVER: Keep it realistic! Not many people can 'dodge' a bullet to the face unless they have cover! Distances Any melee attack (punching, kicking, stabbing etc), have a 1 square range. This means that you need to be next to the person in order to perform a correct attack. You do not need to state moving to an opposing player, you simply need to move your avatar to the space next to them. Finally, you must face the opposing player to perform a valid melee attack (unless you state otherwise in your action line). Although ranged attacks have no official range, if you are making an attempt to fire at someone, you are advised to be in an appropriate position in relation to the opposing player. Like with melee attacks, you must be facing the player as most projectiles cannot curl (unless you state otherwise in your aim action line, for example, aiming to the side, or have a magic boomerang or something). Leaving Rooms During combat, leaving a room requires either an open (unblocked and unlocked) door or teleporter. Your character must be facing the door/teleporter and you must perform 2 lines of uninterrupted role play. If an opposing player interferes with your escape action lines, with either themselves or furniture, then your lines will be discounted and you will still be in the room. For example: Username1: *Runs quickly towards the door.* Username2: *Dives and grabs onto Username1's legs.* Username1: *Runs through the open door.* Typos When role playing, you will sometimes make a typo in your action lines. A typo is simply a spelling mistake. If you make too many typos in your action lines, they will become extremely difficult to read and therefore moderate. It is for this reason that when in combat, if three or more typos are made in your action line(s), the action(s) will be deemed void by a Moderator. Please see the examples below: *Pnuches Bob in the face.* - VALID *Pnuches Bob ni the face.* - VALID *Pnuches Bob ni teh face.* - VOID *Pnuches Bob ni teh fcae.* - VOID Cheating When in combat, cheating is strictly forbidden. Cheating when in combat can be anything from pre-typing your action lines to copying and pasting them. If you are found cheating in any sense, your current account will be banned.
