1 When we are bored, we often listen to songs that suit our moods. Some also use music as a way of expressing their feelings. And for those who are given with beautiful voices, they chant songs to share their talents. Those were just a few significances of music to each of our lives. Of course, most of our songs will not exist without our talented singers. But now, aside from the piracy, our singers have another rival- Vocaloids. 2 Right now, Vocaloids are already a great hit, especially in Japan. But what is exactly a Vocaloid? It is actually voice synthesizer software where you can make a song by typing in the melodies and lyrics. Few years ago, when they first appeared, they were not that popular to people but as time goes on, many has enjoy listening to their songs. First they cover songs, particularly Japanese, but they are also some English vocaloids. Their looks, which vary based from their given personalities, were drawn in an Anime-style form. One of the examples of vocaloids is Hatsune Miku. Today, she is considered as the most well-known and popular vocaloid. 3 So these vocaloids are products of the advancement of technologies in the singing industry. But what if someday they’ll be more popular and loved than the real breathing singers? Well, they can easily sing high notes and chant a song a true human can hardly reach. Even I had been amazed by them and now, I enjoy listening to their songs. Although, they still need a man to control them and make music. And also, without electricity and computers, they’ll not exist. 4 The most well-liked vocaloids belong to the Japanese series. Many people had also used them to cover different songs. Some even use songs by Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and other famous artists. But the problem is their English is not that good. They were just made to sing Japanese songs. So these vocaloids are really a big hit to the Otakus or anime-lovers out there. 5 But, do you think it’s possible to see the Vocaloids performing in a concert like the real people are doing? Actually, they have done many concerts, particularly in Japan. But how did that happen? Their makers used a hologram effect, which I think is really astounding. It’s like there is a huge computer screen in the stage and that’s where the singers are performing together with the real human musicians. Except the huge screen is not that noticeable and the animation is very amazing and very detailed. But, compared to the shows by real singers, Vocaloids’ concerts need more work and money to the crew due to the props and animation of the performers. And the live musicians have to practice well in order to be synchronizing to their computer-program singers. 6 Even if the Vocaloids are not breathing and they’re not really living in the real world, like the true singers, their music is still used to provide us some entertainment. And for some, who imagine that someday they’ll win over our talented human musicians, just think that they can work together and create songs that will enlighten and amaze us. After all, it is still up to us on what kind of music are we going to love and listen to, whether by a beautiful voice from a true human or by a singer in a box. ^^;; OTL |
