You want your artwork to be seen in the best possible light when you decide to showcase them. In this case, some cleaning and tweaking in an image editing software like Photoshop could help. As long as your edits are solely done to resemble its colors, vividness etc of the original, no one can accuse the integrity of your artwork as something done in medium other than computers.
