Lumine

Lumine did a double take when Mora came running into the room. Her friend plopped on her headphones, and it took Lumine a second to notice she was crying. She dropped On the Writing of the Insane (hidden behind her transfiguration textbook) and off her bunk.

It never took much to make Mora cry, the girl was incredibly insecure, but she had a heart of gold and an ingrained desire to help others. Lumine rarely wanted to fight anyone (why fight when you can land a good punch, then remind them how out of shape they are by literally climbing a building), but when someone made Mora cry, Lumine wanted blood.

She reached forward and pried Mora's headphones off her head. "Who do I need to kick?"

Mora sniffed a couple of times, "It... its no big deal. Just coming to the realization that he could never want me and it was stupid of me to even think it." she sobbed again. "I'm so dumb. I accidentally confessed to the guy I have a crush on and... I think he was repulsed by the idea."

Ah. Lumine knew this day would come. To be honest she'd hoped Lance would be the first one to confess his undying love but she knew, logically, it wouldn't have happened. Mora was incredibly transparent with her feelings, and Lance seemed to keep his bottled up like fine wine. Even if Mora hadn't confessed, it wasn't hard to see she held feelings for him.

Lance on the other hand...It was a toss-up. He was so freaking prickly and sarcastic all the time, keeping his issues so close and guarded that Lumine had trouble reading him. But even if he didn't hold feelings for Mora, Lumine would make him have feelings, Merlin damn it!

Lumine pulled up her beanbag chair and literally sunk into it. "What did you say to him? Wait I take that back. What did he say, or do, to make you think he was repulsed?"

Mora told the story about what happened, "And after I blurted that out he just stared at me for a moment and then told me to leave. He didn't even bother responding to what I said. There's no way he wasn't repulsed." She buried her face in her hands. "I'll never be able to show my face to him again!"

"Oh no you don't." Lumine leaned forward in her seat. Or tried to. She still felt like she was falling into the abyss but, y'know. "What did we talk about? Don't go assuming the worst at every noncommittal answer. You know Lance, he's probably been brooding and doesn't know what to think."

She fished out the gum from her pocket, handed a stick to Mora and popped a second into her mouth. "And if that's the case, then you gotta own up to it. You need to walk up, shoulders straight, and tell him; 'Lance, I have confessed my undying love for you. What say you?' And then he'll go," Lumine stood, puffing out her chest. Taking a dramatic breath, she said in a voice ten octaves deeper than her own voice but three octaves higher than Lance, "'Mora! I have yearned after you since before the dawn of time!" She knelt, taking one of Mora's hands in hers. "Our love will be purer than the stars themselves. Come, let us elope and turn our backs on this cursed humanity! They have nothing to offer but war and blood. But we, we will shine brighter than the sun and outlast even moon. My darling, Mora, will you marry me?' And then you'll say yes and there will be tears and you guys will make out and it will be adorable."

Mora watched her friend dramatically play out this scene and it got a chuckle out of her. "I-I don't think that's how it'll go but even if it's just him not sure how to deal with his feelings. I still don't think I could face him. I've completely ruined myself. I had hoped he thought of me as a friend and I've made it weird!" She threw her hands up in the air. "Why am I so dumb?" She collapsed on her bed.

Lumine grabbed one of Mora's pillows, fluffed it up and bounced onto the bed beside her. "It's only going to be weird if you keep thinking it's weird." She propped her head on her hand, elbow on the bed. "Now Lance knows how you feel about him. All that's left is for him to make a decision. And once he chooses, one way or another you can't change it. All you can do is decide if you're going to lie here and cry about it, or if you're going to show him who Mora Alder really is."

"But he told me to leave! Like... it sounds like he doesn't even like me at all." she sniffed again. "Even if I did try to talk to him again, I don't know if I could. Just the thought makes me terrified."

"What, exactly, terrifies you?"

"I'm scared to talk to him. He's already rejected me big time." She gets up to get a a few makeup wipes since all of her makeup is running down her face. "It'd be even worse if he rejected me again!" she wipes her face clean.
