The Byzantine Empire of Selene was the result of the victory of the Byzantine Empire in 1071 AD at Manzikert. The victory started a series of Byzantine victories over the Seljuks, including Jerusalem in 1075, Mecca in 1123, Baghdad in 1211, Hamadan in 1312, and finally Bactria in 1347. As a result, Muslim influence in the world ended, and the Byzantine Empire expanded to even beyond the size of Alexander's Empire. A series of Basilei continued to grow the Empire in its culture and size until it occupied the whole world. However, in 2006, when a series of rebellions broke out in several large cities around the Empire. To prevent the rebellion from gaining further power and toppling the 1700 year-old empire, Basileus Justinian IX reinstated the empire as the Byzantine Empire of Selene, with a more democratic government. To celebrate the change, he reinstated himself as Justinian I. Another result of the government was increased independence of the various territories in the empire, allowing them to decide their own path. Edited by Viestrana, 16 Feb 2016 - 20:36.
