I got it when I went to EA Vancouver. Only have played a handful of games with it, but it is a excellent game. I would love to play a couple games when we both have time Matt.

Cool man when ever you see me on hit me up. I was actually ranked in the top 250 for a while, then MMA came out, I stopped playing and was rusty in the games I played recently. Still in the top 1000 I think. I use the flyers, of course. I think you might give me a game though. Ranked is so predictable. Either a guy figure skating to set up a deke or forcing the slot 1 timer over and over and over. Noone dump and chases, except me and a few people on my friends list who I have had epic games with. So you not playing like 85% of the ranked lobby will automatically have me thinking.

I play NHL but was never a huge hockey fan. The majority of my goals are either from the slot one timer when it's there or deking the goalie. I seldomly DnC because it hardly yields success. I mostly do it if the guy has pulled his defensemen to the side where the puck is. But for the most part I see it as a waste of possession when I can easily dance along the blue line until a hole opens up. I've gotten really good at preventing the one timer in the slot on defense.

DnC works well against blue line trappers who press for a turnover as you enter the zone.

yeah, learn how to shoot, anyone can deke, but you wont always get breakaways, you need to know how to pick the corners after cycling the puck to get a good shot. Kinda like basketball, but you really need to be accurate to score off the open look in hockey. The other thing is while you want an open look at the net, at the sametime you dont want the goalie to have an open look at the puck. you want to shoot at the corners when defenseman and your teammates are in your goalies vision path of you getting ready to shoot. These will yeild you more ways to score than just simply stickhandling around the goalie, and can be harder to defend against.

I played a game against the computer last night. Ended up being a high scoring game, Red wings CPU scored 5 goals. While me as the Blues scored 3 times.

Really like NHL 11, I just need to play it more. There are just sooooo many good games out right now.

you can also wind the wrister back for more power. say you set up your wrist shot by pressing the right stick to the right for a right handed shot, well you can rock the stick back before rolling it up too shoot to get a little extra zip on the shot which can be the difference between the puck hitting the twine, or the goalie getting across in time, just some helpful tips.

Very important form of defense that many novices tend to neglect: Keep your defensemen in front of goal in the slot area. Don't play for big hits and don't chase the puck. Your number one priority on defense is preventing a goal, not winning back possession.

That is very key too, but you have to be careful that you dont screen your goalie, or better shooters will pick you apart for just sitting in the slot.

Yea I rather a D that is sitting in the slot than a pressure defense. Reason being, if you don't have good passers then you are going to give up a lot of pucks and end up short handed with them driving.

If they are running a "zone" style Defense. Then I find it easier to look for those screened wristers.

But again a lot of this is also determined by your personnel.
