Just playing Devil's Advocate here for the lulz... is it possible that by BoG/FnF logic Piccolo may have gotten insanely nerfed, possibly to as low as Freeza arc level?

Some things to consider

  • In Battle of Gods, Piccolo isn't even given his own battle scene and is basically casually K.O.'d with a poke of Beerus' chopsticks in the same scene as Cyborg 18/Tenshinhan, both of whom are extremely low-level fodder.
  • Piccolo is beat down by Shisami, somebody who is stated to be comparable to Dodoria and Zarbon in the beginning of the movie and never shown or stated to have trained (this may change once the extended version comes out.)
  • Freeza states that Team Dragon are holding back to not kill his soldiers and that Gohan alone could beat them all at once if he went all out. This doesn't prove nobody but Gohan can beat 1,000 Freeza soldiers at once but it does at least somewhat suggest that somehow base Gohan > 1,000 Freeza Soldiers > Piccolo/Earthlings.
  • Sorbet is shocked by SSj Gohan's power against Shisami but Freeza apparently says that you can't know how fearsome a SSj is until you see one in person. This may suggest both that Gohan's power against Shisami is comparable to the SSj power Freeza is familiar with and that nobody below SSj Gohan is even Freeza arc SSj tier. The former is at least somewhat plausible due to Gohan apparently now struggling with going SSj if you believe in Ki being something that can atrophy.

I'm not sure I'm willing to believe Toriyama forgot Piccolo's power and accidentally nerfed him this hard over the explanation that Shisami just had the privilege of training with Freeza or something but it's an interesting possibility at least IMO.

If we follow the logic of Trunks Base (Evil Dragons)> = Goku SSJ4 (Beyond the Limits), could make much sense.

It would be the funniest thing ever if, say, Toriyama took Goku's shock at the Kaioshins being above Freeza seriously while re-reading the manga and came up with some nonsense like 100% Freeza > base Goku > Piccolo > Cyborg 18 >= base Goten based on that and the other possible implications.

There's no way anybody will ever ask Toriyama a question like "how strong is FnF Piccolo?" in an interview but I would hope that the extended edition or DB Super at least sheds some light on weird issues like Piccolo's power, the current status of amplified Ki attack logic, and just how effective off-guard attacks are as of now.

Yes, it's true. Definitely do not like the characters lose power, I like much more when they increase their powers increasingly worse or keep their powers.

Shisami was based on rank, I thought?
